joeypots Posted March 20, 2020 Posted March 20, 2020 Say it's $1000. When it comes it seems to me the only responsible thing to do is buy cigars. Cuban cigars. So you have a grand to splurge on your favorites. What are you going to get? I'll start. I need a 50 Cab of RASS. A box of Monte Cristo #1 A box of H Unman #2 1
lovethehaze Posted March 20, 2020 Posted March 20, 2020 Most likely my guess most won’t get a check. Seems to have limits of amount of money earned to get one .... if somehow I do I will def move the Australian economy all i can. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Hammer Smokin' Posted March 20, 2020 Posted March 20, 2020 Like Canada, appears they will only be offering to those who are in lower income brackets. US appears to be $100K Gross annual. Knowing Canada, it'll be around $55K Gross annual.

Do you have a wife and children to care for? If so, think of them instead of yourself. 1 5 1

tigger Posted March 20, 2020 Posted March 20, 2020 I don't want to run afoul of the forum rules, so I'll just say that the plan as it's been suggested in the press seems far too broad and not very effective to me. If my wife and I qualify for this, we'll pass it along to someone or some group who actually needs it. As to what I would buy with a windfall, my 2019 bonus pays out in a couple of weeks, and I was planning on tracking down a box of Punch Mantua. In light of current events, I may choose to keep my powder dry for now. There's nothing else I really want, at least until 2020 boxes are more fully in circulation. 3

Until life as we know it returns to normal, everyone should be conservative with their money and take care of your household expenses and family needs. Buying luxury items during a deadly world pandemic is hardly intelligent. Even the guys on the Rolex watch forum which I belong, who once had 10K burning a hole in their wallet for a hard to get SS watch have decided to curtail their luxury item spending. I have around 50 boxes of cigars, no need to buy anything soon. 4

If one can take care of one's family with something left over after putting up a prudent reserve, I feel it's important to try to contribute to the local economy during times like these. 1
joeypots Posted March 20, 2020 Author Posted March 20, 2020 Guys, lighten up. This is not a life or death place, its a cigar forum. That said, if the mods want to take it down so be it. there are other humorous topics on this board about the virus, I figured the quote below would indicate my post was in that category. 1 hour ago, joeypots said: When it comes it seems to me the only responsible thing to do is buy cigars. BoliDan Posted March 20, 2020 Posted March 20, 2020 I'm sure that I will not qualify to get a check, but I will be paying for all those that do. So, don't let me down and buy some cigars with it! 4
Popular Post Subcomandante Posted March 20, 2020 Popular Post Posted March 20, 2020 This is just a joke not a commentary on politics. Gets a socialist check from the American government and spend it on cigars from communist Cuba. Check. 4 3
Popular Post Thirds Posted March 20, 2020 Popular Post Posted March 20, 2020 I have to assume if you are heavily in to cuban cigars or this forum you are not in dire need of any government assistance. Frankly I’d be more annoyed that you’re here altogether if the government needs to support you after a one week shock to the system. Similar to the time I saw the guy in line buying a stack (And I’m talking large stack) of DVDs with his own cash and using his government assistance food stamps for groceries. I FULLY support assistance to those truly in need but I may draw a hard line at defining need vs want. Cigars and DVDs certainly fall outside of the “need” category. I don’t think there’s any way to take this post other than light heartedly. Gotta laugh during these stressful times. If you have been spending excess money on cigars and this brief shock to the economy sends you in to a tail spin in a matter of a week, I’d ask why you were buying cigars in the first place as opposed to socking away emergency reserves. I won’t qualify for any assistance so for the sake of this topic, sign me up for the following: 1) 1 box of 2020 Unicos (unicorn) 2) 1 box of Fundadores 3) 1 box of BBF 6 1
Bram Smoker Posted March 21, 2020 Posted March 21, 2020 Speak for yourself gents. I already got mine coming to me. Talked to the guy on the phone today, went over and picked up an iTunes gift card, then read him the numbers over the phone. The $50 iTunes gift card is for the government fees to get my check. Can't wait! 1 3
DaBoot Posted March 21, 2020 Posted March 21, 2020 Any funds in good conscience would be donated to those people directly in need in my community. Don’t need government handouts, or whatever this is. and for my generosity, a box of PSP CORO should suffice!!!!! Speaking of cigars,, I should go light one before it starts to rain/snow 1
Wookie Posted March 21, 2020 Posted March 21, 2020 We are in the process of laying off our housekeeper. Don't need her for the kids anymore and we are self-isolating. We can actually do a good job of cleaning on our own, we've learned without much difficulty...easy when everyone is home all day. It's really tough because we are putting someone out of work. But I have a few other employees in my small business that are indispensable. This all sucks for everybody. Hope everyone makes it through this to the other side where, hopefully, brighter times await us. 1
TheCigarslayer Posted March 21, 2020 Posted March 21, 2020 I’m grateful that I make far more (for now) then qualifies. I was actually planning on forwarding it if I did get it. Thankfully they capped it. Many folks out there will need this shot to keep their heads up. Hospitality and entertainment took a heavy blow. 1
Thirds Posted March 21, 2020 Posted March 21, 2020 I feel terrible for the folks that just started businesses and put everything they had in to chasing the dream only to be kicked in the nuts immediately. I know a restaurant/bar owner that just opened a beautiful new place and is under pressure now that I can’t fathom. Hope relief comes soon for many. Tragic. 3
Capt. Corona Posted March 21, 2020 Posted March 21, 2020 I'd be surprised if "everyone" gets a check. But I have been surprised in the past...............maybe once! ?

My wife would be furious if she found out but we truly do not need an extra 1000. 3

BrightonCorgi Posted March 23, 2020 Posted March 23, 2020 Box of Sir Winston's and box of Cohiba Lanceros. I'll pony up any difference needed.
OZCUBAN Posted March 23, 2020 Posted March 23, 2020 I couldn’t agree more ,there’s lighthearted and lighthearted ,this is neither the time or the place, a thousand. Dollars here in Oz wouldnt even buy you a box. Our country along with many others has gone into lock down all the pubs and clubs cafes eat al are closed for a minimum of 6 months some will never recover tens of thousands will be out of work and more than likely loose their homes ,any one who wants to make smart Alec remarks save it for somewhere else and develop some compassion for you fellow humans who are suffering end of rant take care all and be safe ❤️
PaulPower Posted March 23, 2020 Posted March 23, 2020 I’m donating it to my local food bank, then I’ll by a box of Sir Winston and Cohiba Lanceros... with my own money. Easy come, easy go.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
GavLew79 Posted March 23, 2020 Posted March 23, 2020 I thought this was a health check for COVID-19. I guess 'cheque' is 'check' in American English! Lol.
