Popular Post El Presidente Posted March 12, 2020 Popular Post Posted March 12, 2020 Let's all throw a little left hand jab at the current global doom and gloom I have this deep urge to kick back this weekend, cook up something decadent, light up one of my favourite cigars and open something to drink that I probably shouldn't be. I am in the mood to give thanks to the almighty for loved ones/ family/friends. Do the same and take a picture (food / cigar/ drink) and go into the draw for a box of Punch 898 to be drawn Tuesday our time. You will need to post the pics of what you are doing in this thread + a little description. Also please post the photos in the FOH A week in Pictures thread for an extra ticket in the draw. Hell, let's live a little, I will put up three boxes to be drawn 17 4
Popular Post MrGlass Posted March 13, 2020 Popular Post Posted March 13, 2020 07 Cohiba Robusto with Johnnie Walker XR 21. Last year, I wrote a list of personal goals I had, and cigars assigned to those goals. Last weekend, I finally managed to hit the first two of those goals. This cigar is celebrating taking my double tuck out of safety lines on the flying trapeze. For a hobbyist flyer, this is a pretty major milestone, before you begin to factor that I did this two days before my 35th birthday. It's time to celebrate. 11

Popular Post Deeg Posted March 14, 2020 Popular Post Posted March 14, 2020 For me, just as Rob said I needed to escape somehow. I've been on the verge of a panic attack for days with the avalanche of terrifying developments, worrying about myself and family in America and friends (some in Italy). It's been a rough week. The cigar is the Punch 8-9-8 from the Xmas Sampler. The hooch is Hibiki Blender's Choice, a 12-30 year-old blend of Japanese whisky partially aged in wine barrels and truly a wonderful spirit. And the entertainment is The Magic Flute. I came home from work Thursday (yes, I still have to go in) and I needed Mozart. Somehow I knew that's what I needed, and I've been listening to Papageno's Aria for the past three days every time I start to really go round the bend. 8
Popular Post David88 Posted March 14, 2020 Popular Post Posted March 14, 2020 What a difference a day makes. Sun’s out today and most of the clear up from the flooding is done and power and water are slowly being restored. So a 2016 Punch 48, a slice of lemon drizzle cake and I opened a bottle of red. I made the cake last night when we lost power (the first time I’ve been thankful for a gas oven), it came out okay! 9
Popular Post lovethehaze Posted March 14, 2020 Popular Post Posted March 14, 2020 Off the rails yesterday on the biggest loser contest but this is kind of the idea I think. Steaks, salmon, haze, a little rum and a sir Winnie for the win ! I am blessed with exactly what i have as I am sure most of us are that are here. Stay heathy and enjoy the weekend ! 11
Popular Post SirVantes Posted March 14, 2020 Popular Post Posted March 14, 2020 Drink 1 was one from my small stash of wines that are as old as I am - Fontanafredda Barolo La Rosa 1971. I’ve been keeping these back for the Big Five Oh, but El Prez has reminded me that that there’s no guarantee that either I or the wine will get there, or be any good by the time we do. So out comes the cork. For the record - still alive, baby. Food was just simple grilled beef skewers, cunningly spiked with white truffle oil. But nothing worth photographing. Drink 2 was Talisker 25, pound for pound one of the best official bottlings of single malt scotch you can buy, in today’s inflated market. Cigar was my next-to-last Cohiba Sublime. I pronounce myself sufficiently distracted from current affairs. 9
Popular Post GrouchoMarx Posted March 14, 2020 Popular Post Posted March 14, 2020 Having a sir winnie while reading the news ? 5 1
Wailbait Posted March 14, 2020 Posted March 14, 2020 Went to dinner last night at a neat restaurant in Los Angeles called Totoraku. Wines were 78 La Mission Haut Brion and the 82 as well. 78 was unreal. 82 will be good in a few more years. No photos in there and I respect that. So - to honor true decadence - I figured I’d enjoy a quiet morning and play some songs. I hope everyone around the world listens to a little more music this weekend. 4
Popular Post Taco Posted March 14, 2020 Popular Post Posted March 14, 2020 A little unconventional for the thread but a great pick me up and spirit lifter. Hung out with the guys last night for a diaper party they threw me (having a baby in a month or so). We played poker for a pair of Texas Rangers tickets which will be used at a later date because of postponement. Also, it’ll probably be the last time we hang out for a few weeks due to the corona scare. Trinidad Reyes were past around. The love was tremendous. Here’s the haul...not bad eh? 7
Popular Post Wilzc Posted March 14, 2020 Popular Post Posted March 14, 2020 Avoiding crowded places for today, just finding quiet spots and keeping hygiene and awareness levels on top of things! First stop Pancakes at a local cafe while the double tomahawk gets a long... warm water bath. And then it gets smoked for 3 hours and then we feast!!Ending the Friday with an amazing Hoyo Anejados. Pretty good IMHO. Patio was a little dark so pics of cigars are blurry Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 7
Popular Post TheCigarslayer Posted March 14, 2020 Popular Post Posted March 14, 2020 Forgot to snag a picture of the food but decided to crack open a box of these Upmanns I’ve been saving for who knows and also dipped into this bottle of Kavalan. I got the whiskey because my girlfriend is Taiwanese and..I like whiskey. Reason enough! 7
Popular Post yadegari6 Posted March 14, 2020 Popular Post Posted March 14, 2020 Was supposed to be heading out to Portugal and Spain for 2 weeks this Tuesday. Definitely bummed out right now. Going to light up one of my favorite cigars I bought last time I was in Spain and enjoy some weller antique this evening 5
Rhinoww Posted March 14, 2020 Posted March 14, 2020 No photos but it happened last night. Had my last cigar w a buddy face to face For a while. A PD4 from 2009. Some might think that was too old. Not me. Was outstanding. He is converted to aging cigars now. Which I had picked up more. Left him w four aged cigars. I have the same cigars (purchased for us to smoke in vegas this week ....). We will have our weekly smoke virtually for the next few weeks and smoke some other nice aged cigars (I’m lobbying for the old lusi I left to go next) dinner tonight will shortly go on the internal grill. It’s raining so no cigar today. something to look forward to tomorrow. Picked up a few packs of steaks at Costco on Tuesday I told my kids just because we are home doesn’t mean we can’t eat well. We had reservations tonight at a new Dutch Steakhuis. Instead we will eat steak at home. 4
Popular Post cookj1 Posted March 14, 2020 Popular Post Posted March 14, 2020 Lawn cut. ✅ Dog walked. ✅ Chores done. ✅ Sun shining. ✅ Me time! ✅ ...smoking this beautiful Quai D’Orsay Senadores. Box code unknown. This is just a single I picked up. I had not smoked one of these before so I waited for the first few puffs to decide on the drink pairing. I was getting a lot of iodine so I decided to balance it with something on the sweeter side. This Martini Rosso (also an ode to our botl and sotl in Italy) is hitting the perfect notes and I’m settled in for a nice hour on the patio. I’m staying away from the news because it’s all doom and gloom. This is living at its finest. My four legged best friend is by my side too. Life’s problems tend to melt away during these moments but I don’t need to tell any cigar smoker that. ? 6

prodigy Posted March 15, 2020 Posted March 15, 2020 Dang, I had some grass fed filets and a PSP coro earlier and did not take any pics... I'll be fishing tomorrow so maybe I can still enter. I really want some 898...Sent from my SM-G975U using Tapatalk 1
Popular Post armada_crew Posted March 15, 2020 Popular Post Posted March 15, 2020 An "appetizer" of a nice glass of Ardbeg while we prep the steaks. Going to try a bottle of 2015 Clos Apalta 2015 from Chile, heard good things about this wine. Will finish with my first trini fundadores. Hope everyone is safe and doing well this weekend. Cheers. 8
Popular Post PigFish Posted March 15, 2020 Popular Post Posted March 15, 2020 I don’t know that if I am going to qualify for much here. I smoked a cigar... a JL#1 from 08. I drank some lime infused sparkling water... I too needed a bit a pick me up. Humanity never seems to change much, and it is a damn shame. How in this day and age, a mad run at markets for a disease that has done so little actual damage when viewed historically has got me a bit shaking my head. You folks can debate it as you wish. I side a bit with those more skeptical of the media push than the germ itself. I just wanted a cigar... Perhaps so I can continue my ever-present cough and spread a little more fear! Yes, I am cruel... After a near fatal heart attack in ‘08, mortality does not grip me as some others I suppose. F that ***... Like humanity, I don’t change easily. A-hole to the end... that’s me! The cigar was nice. Not over-the-top nice, just nice. I have no great meal to show you. I have slept most of the day. My wife is down about this stuff. Our retirement got hit... I have to fly weekly for work. I have a heart condition. I am old... and at risk. Most of you know about the adage of life! I figure I am gonna’ get it. I have not been sick in 2 years, and what happens, happens! Here is the cigar, but that is not what I want to share with you. Not my cynical evil streak either... not really. You know what made me smile today? I watched a wonderful documentary about the Spitfire today while smoking my cigar. If any of you enjoy WWII history, vintage aircraft, and the unmitigated guts of our British brothers I will suggest you watch this film. It was truly beautifully done. Here is a sneak peak... I loved it... With all that good feeling and a good night sleep, I may venture into the despair of the masses, and try to hunt us down some toilet paper! Cheers! -the Pig 12
