Popular Post ChanceSchmerr Posted June 30, 2014 Popular Post Posted June 30, 2014 I finally got in!!!!!! Many may remember last year - I was selected by the Navy to move to London to complete a Master's Degree in Naval Architecture, but was unable to gain acceptance to the university (should have worked damn harder in my undergrad years). Understandably, it was a crushing blow, to have my dream snatched away. I sucked it up, went to a local university and worked hard in a Master's course to prove my mettle, and the hard work paid off, as I have received acceptance to University College London, to at last commence my studies in pursuit of my MSc - Master's in Science (Naval Architecture) in Fall 2014. The career I've sought since high school is at last in reach. Now, with the military Posting Message I've just recently received, it's official from all accounts - my wife and I are moving to London in Aug/Sep 2014.....and I can't tell you how excited we are! We'll be living right downtown London (we'll be in London in a week or so to do a house-hunting trip), hopefully somewhere in the neighborhoods of Marylebone, Fitzrovia or perhaps Carnaby or Covent Garden. We'll be there until December 2015, 16 months in total, before we move back here to Victoria. I'm extremely excited as well for the travel opportunities we'll have while in London - I'm looking forward to seeing as much of Europe as I can, and more importantly - as many FOH Brothers in Europe as I can too! I've started reaching out to friends I've met already in Europe (Guy, Nino - look forward to seeing you!), and I very much look forward to meeting many new friends in England and Europe over the next year and a half - that is truly the best thing about FOH, is that it brings us together. I can't wait to meet some of my FOH European brethren! I'll do my best to post where we'll be traveling to on the forums. I will say that Academics are still the priority and the Academics will be heaviest from Sept '14-March '15, so although we will be traveling a little between those times, we will be that much more active after March '15. To those who have supported me with kind words, advice and encouragement over the last year - you have my sincere thanks - it has helped me greatly in my path towards this. Thank you! To my Canadian brothers/sisters - I will be back in the country soon, but if any of you is in London while we're there - by all means let me know in advance if you'd like to meet up! As well - I am hoping to attend Toronto Megaherf again this year - I am just waiting on Travel dates to confirm before I can confirm with the organizers. I hope to know for sure on Megaherf by mid July - I look forward to seeing you all there! We're FINALLY GOING TO LONDON!!!! WOOOOO! And, almost forgot, we're hoping to take the Queen Mary 2 from New York to Southampton when we move (as long as we can book it in time).........has anyone sailed it - how is the Churchill Lounge? 5
