habanolover Posted June 30, 2014 Posted June 30, 2014 Congratz and best wishes for continued success!!!
Coloniales Posted June 30, 2014 Posted June 30, 2014 Well done. Great cigar places to smoke, and there are many, include. Check out www.cigars.co.uk and lookout for the links for COSAs, or Comfortable Outdoor Smoking Areas, bars and restaurants. For shops, most have a sampling policy, where you can buy and light up. Some don't mind you lighting your own. Prices suck, but don't suck as much as Canada Want any advice PM me. Keith. 1
garbandz Posted June 30, 2014 Posted June 30, 2014 Naval Architecture..................House Boats? I am stumped to figure this one out.........
Smallclub Posted July 1, 2014 Posted July 1, 2014 Naval Architecture..................House Boats? I am stumped to figure this one out......... You've never heard of "naval architecture"? The first treatises were written in the 17th century, and before that it was called "marine carpentry"…
Wil Posted July 1, 2014 Posted July 1, 2014 You've never heard of "naval architecture"? The first treatises were written in the 17th century, and before that it was called "marine carpentry"… Everyone knows that!
canadianbeaver Posted July 1, 2014 Posted July 1, 2014 You will love it London. The pub scene is great and lots of FOH brothers to connect with there. Congratulations,! Here in Collingwood we have a whole area called "The Shipyards". It was originally the hub of shipping activity for this region off Georgian Bay. Today it was to be developed into condos, parks, boat facilities, you name it. The developer went bust and the city is at a stand still. For over a year and a half it has sat as two giant holes in the ground. The way things go around here, should be that way when you graduate. Please hurry and come and fix it.
Smallclub Posted July 1, 2014 Posted July 1, 2014 Please hurry and come and fix it. He's learning to build ships, not buildings. "Naval architecture" doesn't mean "architecture near the sea"…
headstand Posted July 1, 2014 Posted July 1, 2014 Congratulation! Let me know when you get back to the BC coast. I have a dingy that needs a look over by a qualified naval architect
canadianbeaver Posted July 1, 2014 Posted July 1, 2014 He's learning to build ships, not buildings. "Naval architecture" doesn't mean "architecture near the sea"… I guess I got it screwed up because the Wikipedia entry included info about Shipyards. Forgive me.
CUBANO Posted July 1, 2014 Posted July 1, 2014 Congrats, and enjoy your time in London. Good Luck in your studies.
ChanceSchmerr Posted July 3, 2014 Author Posted July 3, 2014 Thanks Everybody - I'm only a couple days away from my house-hunting trip to London and super-excited to find out where I'll be living! Congratulations! Give me a shout if you need any local advice Looking forward to a herf brother, congratulations! Thanks Tino, Joey - I will be in touch once I've got my flat all lined up - looking forward to a good London Herf once we're settled in! Well done. Great cigar places to smoke, and there are many, include. Check out www.cigars.co.uk and lookout for the links for COSAs, or Comfortable Outdoor Smoking Areas, bars and restaurants. Thanks Keith - that COSA's tip is a great one, I didn't know about that! I'm pushing to find a flat with a balcony so that I can have a cigar at my place, but if not, these will be key! Yeah - prices aren't ideal.....but Europe isn't far away Naval Architecture..................House Boats? I am stumped to figure this one out......... No worries! It's the study of Ship design, essentially - Naval Architects are used in Ship design firms and ship yards, but also in Dry Docks and as Subject Matter Experts for ship structural repairs and refits. Architecture is used to describe it, as there is much structural expertise necessary for proper design. You will love it London. I'm looking forward to getting a "local" pub, thanks Lisa Haha - I'd be surprised if the Shipyards you describe isn't started up again for development within a year or two, sounds like something that just needs more of an upturn to get going again. Congratulation!Let me know when you get back to the BC coast. I have a dingy that needs a look over by a qualified naval architect I'd be happy to! We'll need to sail it out to see for sure what the problem is, though..
Pedro2486 Posted July 3, 2014 Posted July 3, 2014 Sounds like it'll be a great experience mate. Best of luck
Guyman1966 Posted July 3, 2014 Posted July 3, 2014 He's learning to build ships, not buildings. "Naval architecture" doesn't mean "architecture near the sea"… Thank goodness you explained that. Living in Florida I thought he was talking about oranges. LOL
