Bond Roberts Launch Party, last February, 2020
Coloniales replied to Ryan's topic in Cigars Discussion Forum "the water hole"
That was a great party!!! Lets do it again, whenever! Keith. -
Cuban cigars should be aged on the dry side RH wise, and smoked nothing more than 65% RH. Take the cigar outside the humidor for 2-3 hours before smoking, if you can be that organised. I rarely, I mean rarely have plugged Cuban cigars. I have more problems QC with Non Cuban cigars. Been smoking Havanas for 25+ years. Keith.

Another 5 years of Tory rule in the UK
Coloniales replied to 99call's topic in Cigars Discussion Forum "the water hole"
Corbyn was unelectable, complete discredited idiot. Labours worst election result in nearly 100 years. Give Boris a chance. Keith. -
Yes that was newsgroup Alt.smokers.cigars I was there back in the day, was the wild west of the internet. Occasional flame wars, which were hilarious. The term "Herf" was coined around 1996. See link below. Steve Saka had www.cigarnexus.com very early on, seems to be down now.The Cuban Cigar codes once cracked were first published on there. https://cigarcraig.wordpress.com/2009/09/29/the-origin-of-the-word-herf/ Keith.

Interesting 1929 Hunters Catalogue
Coloniales replied to 99call's topic in Cigars Discussion Forum "the water hole"
Wasn't me bidding bro honest ? Keith. -
I wonder when the second edition, which sooo very nearly came out, in its Bamboo case will be launched. Some of us paid deposits, and 100%+ got the money back when the launch was postponed. Full credit to MRN. Luckily my copy of the original has the co author Adriano's signature, if you got really lucky you and a few were, MRN's signature. Keith.

Which LCDH in the world!
Coloniales replied to Outdoorguy84's topic in Cigars Discussion Forum "the water hole"
Yes the selection is good. The La Casa JBR is shutting for good late September, with the prices in Dubai subject to 100% tax, they aren't making any money, on the contrary. However, there maybe a solution in the pipeline keep you posted. Keith. -

Dubai LcDH lounge is nice at JBR. Prices suck big ones. Buy when you leave Dubai at the airport LcDH, prices almost half, good quality. Keith. -

Barcelona Day to Kill

Estanco Duaso every time, forget Gimeno. Jordi will look after you. Keith. -
Ramon Allones Las Palmeras a good buy if you like Sublimes size, $220USD/10 Lebanoin Regionals and you may find the Bolivar Emiratos on the shelves still. Maybe some ScDLH Prado on the shelves next week apparently. Prices if you depart Dubai are good, the Duty Free in arrivals isn't duty free, twice the price. mind the stock is ageing nicely ;-) Terminal A and B are best shops, concourse C hit n Miss with stock. I travel through once or twice a month. Keith.

Worst Airports?
Coloniales replied to El Presidente's topic in Cigars Discussion Forum "the water hole"
Folks, If you haven't been through any airport in India, you have seen nothing. Endless bureaucracy and stamps on bits of paper. Immigration queues can be long, but staff are quire friendly. Some nice, modern airports, like Hyderabad and Bangalore put US airports to shame. I fly into US airports regularly, JFK might as well be third world, rude air traffic controllers, with thick Noooo york accents. Then Customs, if your name is Mohammed or similar, its the gloves, even if you have a work visa.... US airports in general, poor facilities, poor restaurants and bars, lounges. ORD, good grief. Funnily enough, LAX have found OK, the Tom Bradley terminal, modern and well done. The Smurfs at US airports can be ok, or PITA. DXB, my home airport is vast, but nicely done, lots of things to do, cigars good price when departing. Immigration queues can be long at peak times, but is getting better. -
Things you never knew....

Tis true, some stupid FAA regulation. We even have ashtrays in the Flight deck still. I think they still smoke in a few wild west type countries, friends who fly on Middle East Airlines (MEA) tell me tis true, with the right crew ?? Keith. -
Gamechanger Releases
Coloniales replied to El Presidente's topic in Cigars Discussion Forum "the water hole"
1. Siglo 6 without question, although Behike is certainly up there. 2.RE's depend on the markets, as far as pricing goes. Spain still has very reasonably priced REs, UK/Canada/Asia Pacific pricing sucks, unless you know where to buy. EL pricing, the Monte C was the most bonkers of the lot. Though current Els in bigger han boxes of 10 formats are certainly pricy. Keith. -
Always good for some hilarity these lists. Even Cigarjournal has gone to the dark side. I smoked a Myfathgercigars 1922 Le Bijou the other day, second time and giving it a second chance, as the first was dire. I confirmed its a piece of junk, no complexity whatsoever, all strength and power, no elegance apart from the huge band and Orange ribbon on the foot. Love the SW, but they are a rarity these days. Keith.

Nice to know, and Glasgow has a few nice Breweries/Tap rooms that when the weather is better, you can smoke outside ? Also go to the Hunters and Frankau website, for listings of COSA (smoking places all over the UK) www.cigars.co.uk Keith

Cigar Journal Top 25 - 2018
Coloniales replied to El Presidente's topic in Cigars Discussion Forum "the water hole"
One Cuban cigar in the whole 25 cigars and a Rocky Patel number one LMAO. Rocky is a great bloke and ambassador for the industry, but his cigars are just not to my palate. Maybe this one is worth a try. These ratings are laughable, with lots of dog rocket US market cigars. i subscribe to CJ, but every year these ratings get more hilarious. I'll keep smoking my Habanos. Keith.
