Is the Behike 52 the best of all Cuban Cigars?

Touche, misread the bit about that Amateur de cigare magazine...bad assumption. I still think it's too early to tell if the BHK 52 is the best of 'all' cuban cigars, unless they are only considering the current offerings

Out of the BHK range the 54 is my favorite and however I have only smoked two of them and only one 52 and one 56. Absolutely not the best cigar ever

I have a JUL 12 box of BHK 52. I've only had 2 out of this box yet but both were rather disappointing, the first one was a bit harsh and the second one was rolled so tightly that I've chucked it at the end of the second third. They're still very young so I sincerely hope they will still come around, at that price level I expect a lot more than what I've seen so far.

Pretty much sums up my experience. Although BHK54 seemed to be a bit promising than BHK52 for me.

And why not, exactly? France is the first buyer of premium habanos after all… Who would you trust on this matter? Moldo-Valachians? Serbo-Croatians? Inuits?

There is a mistake in the article : "700 cigars from 130 countries" – what a joke… l'Amateur de Cigare just published a "palmares" of 130 cigars from 4 countries. The BHK 52 is listed No. 1 out of 50 habanos.

This is just a ranking compiled by the team of a french cigar magazine, published in french and in France and nowhere else AFAIK.

It's not intented to be definitive or universal…

I can understand that Cubans are the best, ok,I would like to see If any N.C. came in , I don't think so as It Is an

INTERNATIONAL contest and for once, not in the U.S.A. no injures intented,.But for me the best is not BHK 52

It Is ,for me at least, HdM Epicure No.1 .

With all the reviews saying after 2010 the BHK was a shadow of it's former glory, wouldn't at least getting a few years out of a marca be worth something?

Also, one would think a bit of history in the cigar, not just the brand should be at the top.

While the 52 is an ok cigar, the 54 IMHO is much better. I would even rank the H.Upmann RR over the 52.

I think in a category of subtle class cigar it would certainly be up there along side a sir Winnie, lgc # 3 and qdo offerings.

But hard to put a champagne cigar against a brandy, or a classic rolls royce against an f1 car

In its category it's certainly a top cigar it just depends on your tastes

Oh and I'd trust the old sparring partner over any other country for advice on class, taste and culture, but I realise for some jealousy is a terrible affliction!

I call BS on this supposed test.

First off it does not say how many Cubans were included in the test and since there was only 700 total cigars from 130 countries, probably not many.

Second, the year of the cigars would make a big difference as an aged cigar would more than likely taste a lot better than the same young Cigar.

Third, since they included a non regular production (R&J Res) none of their top three would be accurate.

Here are just a few cigars I have smoked that blows their top 3 Cubans away, in no special order:

Cohiba Sublime

Cohiba DC

Cohiba Millenium Piramide

1st release Cohiba Reserva (30 cigars) pick one but for me the Piramides and Rubstos were other wordly

2002 LGC M2 smoked in summer 2012

Aged BBF

Aged Lusitania (ok they picked this too, but it does not beat the Cohibas I listed above.

HdM LE Piramides, I believe they were 2003 but could be wrong on year.

I am sure many could add more to this list that are better than their top three!!!!

I agree with others here that it's too soon to say.

In terms of flavor and construction the 4 I've had have been all over the map. The last one was almost plugged solid. What a rotten experience that was! For that type of coin is it too much to ask for perfect construction every time? I don't think so.

Why can't people read the previous posts? I've already wrote that "130 countries" is a MISTAKE. And it's not a test, it's a palmares, a ranking, country by country. (Dom, Honduras, Nica, Cuba)

I have the ranking in hand now, it's a special issue of l'Amateur de Cigare, nothing else; the [email protected] article is full of bullshit and errors…
