Punch Punch REG ENE 19. First one from this box after a few weeks in the humidor. Pleasant, but nothing special. Lots of wood with some floral sweetness and green tea bitterness. Got a little more complex after the first 1/3, but gave up after about the 1/2 way point. Draw and burn started becoming a distraction. I will forget about the rest until next year.18 points

Sancho Panza Non Plus RUM Abr 2018 I 'broke open' my SRO Feb 2018 box of Sancho Panza Non Plus yesterday so I figured I should do the same with my other recent acquisition of this vitola since its announcement of discontinuation this year. Fortunately, the first one from this RUM Abr 2018 box had a good draw and was not tight, unlike my first cigar from my SRO Feb 2018 box. Flavours were similar, although this cigar was more on the 'charred wood' side and less 'floral'. Salt was there but it was minimal. After having two of these in two days, I can't say that I'd be willing to put this into my rotation right now. I definitely need these to be more like my aged ABR Sep 2011 box, more smooth and cream-textured. Do note, all the Sancho Panza Non Plus I've had this year, whether aged or youthful, have been different to the excellent SP Belicosos of recent times (i.e. 2017 and 2018), which I've found to be more 'toasty' or 'crispy' and much more approachable when young.10 points

Sancho Panza Non Plus SRO Feb 2018 After spending the last year-and-a-bit going through an aged box of Sancho Panza Non Plus from 2011, today was my opportunity to break open a new box of early-2018 SP Non Plus. Ever since 5th Avenue circulated the 2019 discontinuations I've sought out a few boxes of these, much like I did with the H.Upmann Petit Coronas. (I wish I did the same for the Diplomaticos No.4 and No.5 though!) This early-2018 SP Non Plus had a wonderful colorado maduro brown wrapper which was silky, the construction was perfect, the ash was perfect and the burn-line throughout this cigar was, dare I say it, again perfect. Alas, and this is a common problem with Sancho Panza Non Plus, the cigar was a little tight. Thankfully I was able to use my PerfecDraw tool to open up the draw and smoke it down to its thankful conclusion. Charred wood, salt and floral notes were the main expression of this cigar, although the wood flavours were not crisp and toasty, they weren't bitter and burnt and the salt in this was minimal, not overpowering. In contrast to my 2011 SP Non Plus, those have been more creamy and softer on the blend, which is what you'd expect from aged stock. I am eager to sample one that is rolled more fairly, hopefully I will do so soon.10 points

RyJ Churchill Añejado I am a big fan of aged RyJ Churchills, especially the tubos. The first full box of Cuban cigars I ever bought was a box of RyJ Churchills, and one of the top 10 cigars I have ever smoked was a 20 year old RyJ Churchill tubo that was sent to me by a certain author from Hong Kong. When I first heard about the Anejado series coming out with a RyJ Churchill, I was cautiously excited to try them. Cautiously, because of the disappointment of the previous Anejado cigars, but excited because they were RyJ Churchills. I decided it would be fitting to smoke this in the Churchill Room at my local cigar bar. In the first few puffs, I noticed a strong cedar taste to it. As I continued, the cedar flavor remained but another taste was there, that I just couldn’t put my finger on, but if dirt has a flavor, this is what I would imagine it would taste like. It was pretty much cedar and dirt all the way through the cigar. In the middle 1/3 there were hints of interesting flavors here and there, some of them even pleasant, but they were fleeting, leaving as quickly as they came, and then back to cedar and dirt. I dont know what the aging conditions are in Cuba, but they must be different than my humidor, because my humidor has never turned a cigar into a completely different cigar, no matter how long I aged it. This cigar tasted nothing like any RyJ Churchill I have ever smoked, aged or young. As a side note, I just noticed the cigar in Churchill’s mouth in the picture is clearly larger than a 47 ring gauge cigar. It’s at least a 50 or maybe 52.8 points

H. Upmann Connossieur A BRE ABR 19 Robusto Extra 52 x 140 This cigar is my second favorite Upmann after the Connossieur B, but is in my regular rotation at the moment. I prefer both to the range of magnum cigars they produce, as the latter presents only about 8/10ths of the steady freight train of complex tasting notes that the Connie A produces. Cold draw is substantial. You get a consistency of the cedar, cacao, cream, coffee, citrus and a sweet grassy flavor. A bit of a Reese’s peanut butter taste. The burn is clean but slanted a bit and needed a touch up. Retrohale became sweeter on second third start but the mild spice stayed fairly constant throughout. Towards the back end, the cigar lost about 15% of its well roundedness even though I really took time with this one. This cigar is a consistent performer and gives you everything you want when you have the time to enjoy extract the greatness out of it Cars.... Hermann Upmann was a German Banker who created what became one of Habanos’ global designation brands. If I were to draw a parallel to a classic car, it would naturally be of a car produced by one of the big German global auto manufacturers - BMW. This cigar is big much like the M5 is for a performance saloon. It was introduced in 2013, so while not that old, it is kind of older news by now. This cigar screams E39 BMW M5 (98-03) to me. This car, while not limited, not particularly race bred with its non Motorsport derived S62 4.9 l V8 engine, and not the most expensive in its class, was an absolute icon when it burst onto the scene in late 1998. It was the first V8 after two prior gens of inline 6 M5 motors. Like the widely available car, the Connossieur A is not an LCDH or RE or EL. You want a box? You got it. You want an E39 M5? Hey, they aren’t as rare as a 993 Turbo S. Is it the biggest cigar made? Not even close, but neither is the M5 the largest autobahn dominator that you can buy, nor is it the fastest. Does the Connie A sometimes let you down? Sure. Sometimes I’m reminded that it isn’t a Siglo VI or a Fundadores. Does the M5 let you down? Absolutely. From timing chain tensioner issues, common VANOS systems rattling and so on and so forth. These days even a modern WRX could walk you in a quarter mile. Worst of all, can the Connie A give you cancer of the throat and mouth and even potentially lungs? I mean, if you believe the stickers they swaddle our boxes with, yes they can. But the E39 M5 too can get cancer. Cancer of the intake manifold due to carbon build up. The literal equivalent of black lung for cars. And damn is it damn costly to repair. This cigar and this car are one hell of an experience. Total classics and I would not be upset to have either in my humidor or garage, or even better yet, a Connie A in my mouth while I drive the Nurburgring.7 points

First is a pic of my nephew and myself. He’s seriously the cutest lil guy ever! second is my first HUSW I’m currently smoking. I had one of those hard weeks that needs a great cigar to celebrate getting through! and third is the boat we just got into contract on today! It’s a huge step up from our boat that sank. I couldn’t be more excited to get this one...this has been my dream boat for many years!7 points

LMB OCT 18 24:24. Saturday yard work. This D4 starts off real mild and tasty. I have stayed away from this box since the first couple of sticks were quite unremarkable. After 6 months resting this example builds to a nice medium strength with a bit of sourdough and earthy notes. A slight sweetness is coming through now. A noticeable transformation indeed. Beautiful fine toothed Colorado wrapper with easy draw. I look forward to the rest... I am admittedly on a learning curve here and FOH, with its very honest reviews are a YUGE resource for me. I can’t wait for my RASS to come out of the nasty bitter wood shed. Cheers boys4 points

Busy weekend! I harvested my first "Mary Jane" plant. You can legally grow up to 4 plants in Canada. Grew one with my best friend this was our bounty. Learned lots and it was a great experience. Also keeping busy this weekend training for my first and only natural body building competition, its on my bucket list. Competing in classic physique. I swear I don't take selfies at the gym! lol Also yes my shirt is a Vegeta top (Dragon Ball Z reference).4 points
