Popular Post wineguy Posted August 13, 2019 Popular Post Posted August 13, 2019 Monte ESP. 2 SEP FEB 11 purchased recently from FOH auctions. Smoking very nicely. Edit: Smoked beautifully, no relights or touch-ups... 20
Popular Post MigsG Posted August 13, 2019 Popular Post Posted August 13, 2019 '15 RyJ Cedros de Luxe LCDH First time with this mild, creamy cigar. Great smoke for a hot day. The subtle flavors are best enjoyed in the daytime, IMO. I glued the bands back to fully enjoy the experience. This definitely has a place in my rotation. Props to @Bucky McSwensen for providing the equipment. 21

Popular Post Burningman Posted August 14, 2019 Popular Post Posted August 14, 2019 Monte 4 ALE SEP 10. Good cigar. Not overly complex but did surprise me about halfway through with a peanut nougat flavor. I have about 2/3 of the box left. I'm going to let them sit a while and possibly revisit them at the end of the year. 17

Popular Post Optic101 Posted August 14, 2019 Popular Post Posted August 14, 2019 My Father Le Bijou 1922 Petit Robusto. Got a box in 2013. Haven’t touched one in a few years. Remember it quite strong. Now a mild to medium, nice espresso, chocolate, charred meat flavor. Good draw, smoke volume. A nice afternoon cigar for a change once in a while. 24

After smoking it, you have to wonder why this was ever deleted. Simply put, this was as close to a 100 point cigar that I've ever had, and trust me, I've been fortunate to have had some good ones. Better than the recent LCDH Trinidad La Trova? In a word...yes. What made this near 10 year-old cigar so sublime was the rich creamy butter texture it gave from beginning to end. The La Trova I had a few months ago was similar but more intense in flavour, more salty and spicy. In comparison, this Robustos Extra had no significant dough flavours, but it had cedar, grass or hay, leather and tea flavours aplenty and these flavours were both balanced and mild. It was also very easy on the nose, retrohaling was pure bliss throughout the smoke. The question of when cigars are at the peak comes up from time-to-time on our forum. This cigar today makes that question moot as I have every confidence that I can leave the rest to smoke over the next 5 to 10 years and this will still be great. The larger ring Trinidads have always brought that extra buttery note to them for me. Big fan of Vigia. I'm excited for the new sizes being released this year (or probably next year considering it's Habanos lol). 3 2
Popular Post JohnS Posted August 14, 2019 Popular Post Posted August 14, 2019 La Gloria Cubana Taínos LRE Dic 2009 This is the first cigar from a box I've rested in my On-line Humidor for a number of years and recently had shipped. If you've researched the La Gloria Cubana Tainos on the forum you'd know that it is a much-loved and much-missed cigar. Although, perhaps the examples from the early 2000's were not as much-loved, the last few years of production in '08 and '09 were better. This LGC Tainos had a core cream, nut and fruitcake flavour that was wondrous, together with some floral notes that comes with aging. Retrohaling, which I'm disinclined to do on younger cigars, presented no issue here as the draw left a pleasant tingle through the nose and I had no problem retrohaling into the last third either. What a pity this cigar had to end after around two hours. Even then I wanted to smoke more but it would have necessitated burning my fingers! 30
Popular Post Ry27 Posted August 14, 2019 Popular Post Posted August 14, 2019 This was a chocolate/cocoa stick, very good. And very welcome slump buster for my recent Montecristo smoking experiences. 21

I also don't often smoke a cigar this size, but the consistent quality of this blend forced me to buy a box. With luck, it'll last a few years. Enjoy! 2
