Liver and onions.  I'll starve to death before I go there.

White chili. If it's white, it aint chili. Just call it chicken and bean chowder and don't bring it to a chili cookoff!  Sorry, personal remembrance kicked in there. I judged a chili cookoff seve

Paella. Just seems like dry rice and overcooked seafood to me. The big copper pans look cool.

If we are going to go to "foods" instead of "dishes" I don't get, then asparagus is my eating kryptonite. It is utterly vile to me in every way, taste, smell, texture all horrible. If I was trapped at the bottom of the ocean in a submarine with only asparagus to eat, I'd open the hatch.

I can strongly recommend giving it another go, and try a traditional old school Valencian Paella.

Rabbit, chicken, Snails, Green beans. Done properly, it's fabulous.

Frikkin broccoli! If we're talking about individual items.

Steak tartare has no place in this world. Especially with a raw egg on top. 🦠🤮

Chitterlings, I'm not eating a poop chute along with brains or pig feet, I know what they've been standing in. Too many better cuts of hog meat. Cauliflower and broccoli both seem pretty flavorless, but the broccoli I can handle if it's smothered with cheese.

No,no,no...It's the cauliflower drenched in multi cheese sauces. Would be wasted on broccoli.

At least broccoli has some flavor.

I will keep trying, whether I like it on not! My brother in law is from Paraguay and an amazing cook. I love to cook too. We often do big celebratory type dinners, roasting a whole pig, etc. and one of his go-to’s is paella. He goes over the top preparing it. I have also had paella in Valencia and surrounding areas must be at least a dozen times. It isn’t that I don’t like it, I just clearly fail to see the magic of it. That was why I mention it as I seem to be the outlier. Give me the option of paella or a whole baby pig cooked in a caja china and I’m going pig. My wife loves paella so I will no doubt keep trying!

I do get this dish, but many outsiders do not. In Cincinnati we are famous for our 3 ways! we do chili spaghetti. The chili is more like a sauce over noodles topped with finely shredded cheese and optional beans and or onions (to make it a 4 or 5 way). It’s a must try if you’re in town.

The first time I drove across the country I was 18. The first memorable thing I ate was 4 ways chili in Ohio. It will always bring back memories!

It sounds like you've given it the best possible chance. Life is short, no sense in revisiting things you know don't hit the spot.

This should be the next logical 'snack wars' challenge for @Chas.Alpha  It has to be accompanied with some cockles though...and eaten for breakfast.

I don’t know what that is, but it looks yummy!

vegemite? i thought this was a discussion about food.

westy, i'm with rob on brains etc.

for me, most detested is anything with paw paw. old man loved them. i can't stay in the same room. literally. smell alone makes me sick.

pumpkin. cow food. horrible. although i do like pumpkin soup. weird?

popcorn. love the smell. hate eating it.

and one more, pippies? why? why not use them as bait - for which the divinity of the dancing wombats designed them - and catch something good to eat.

while on seafood, i have tried and tried with cod. can't see it.

finally, i am not opposed to peanut butter, crunchy or otherwise, but i would never willingly choose it.

pretty much everything else, bring it on.

Vegemite is so far the only thing on this list that I wouldn’t eat. I did however replace the valve cover gasket on my truck recently and smeared some of that stuff on the valve guides and lifters. Runs quiet as a church mouse!

People in the UK seem to love tasteless bland beige food. One of such loves is a "Sausage Roll". I always hated sausage rolls until I tried making some with decent Sausage meat and real butter puff pastry. Turns out I don't hate Sausage Rolls, I just hate the processed cheap version.

Apart from that I struggle to think of anything else, usually if I don't like something it's because it's poor execution or poor quality ingredients.

i also don't hate sausage rolls but i don't ever get excited by them and never deliberately order them.

Tripe. Disgusting looking stuff.

good tripe is one of the few reasons to consider that just possibly there really is some form of divinity.

I used to think that until I had it cooked right. My town with 30%+ Brazilian and they know how to cook Okra. I love it now and despised it for decades.

  • Laverbread - don't be Welsh in America and visit relatives near the coast as a child. The thing of nightmares. Spoiler - it's not bread.

😂 Indeed. I've managed to avoid them altogether. What part of Wales does your family hail from?

Not sure how they prep it, but it's cut into 1.5" pieces and cooked with beef and garlic like a stew. Not slimy at all. Nice bite to it actually. It's actually one I look for at when at the buffet. The Brazilian BBQ places are like a buffet, but you pay per pound on what you put on your plate.

Soak it in vinegar (whole) before cooking and, voila, no slime
