From the hip, how has 2024 in general been for you?

Health, family, finances, faith (if any), study, interests....whatever.

If you rolled them all together and gave the year a mark out of 5.......which of the poll most reflects your year.

My health took a huge dive, was diagnosed with Pseudo Dementia. At least I lost some weight. Finances are a shambles. Faith...whatever.  BUT I got to travel and go fishing and buy a camper bus. Still, I voted this shit show a 1.

Hang in there mate!  Our Deep Dive was one of the highlights of my year on 2424. You are a good man, Charlie Brown ;)

High highs and low lows. Accomplished something I'm really proud of this summer. Having a absolute ball watching my son grow up and start reading and interacting with the world as his own person (he's 5), health is generally good, and marriage is chugging along. On the other hand my longest and best friendship appears to be over or perhaps permenantly damaged, work is middling at best, and mid life crisis is setting in.

Oh, dang. 2024 was rough.
First off - I didn't anticipate being a witness/responder to a j-walker getting plowed by a garbage truck when I woke up today.
On top of that we've had 2 Force Majeure-like events at work, taken a major build on our Customer interface, a 3rd party to our asset going on an unforeseen prolonged outage resulting us wading into unprecedented territory, evacuating a hurricane on vacay, and a close family member getting diagnosed with cancer for a 2nd time, and getting a false all-clear before disappearing in Italy's med system for ~12 hours without notifying anyone of a change in hospitals with the ambulance.
As the late, great Tom Petty sang 'you can stand me up at the gates of hell...'
Best moment this year was getting the family to UCF @ Fla Gators. That was a truly spiritual experience.

Defiantly- 'whatcha got for me '25???'

Enjoy and embrace each day all!

Cheers

Edit - sorry for the gravity.

Good, voted a 4. Haven’t bought a Rolex yet but career milestone year and we’re packing up the condo in Hawaii to move to hopefully something more permanent/sustainable. I’ve got 150 bottles of bourbon and close to 200 boxes of cigars in transit as we speak so fingers crossed I don’t need to edit this post to a 1.

2024 was a great year until the middle of November. Tragedy struck my small family, something I would not wish on my worst enemy, and 2024 is now the worst year of my life. But life must go on and one must be able to find consolation and joy in the good things in life. I plan to crack some special boxes when I get the chance, and hope for a great 2025.

I had to vote 5 this year. Health for me and the bride is excellent. Many good friends. Semi retirement is working beautifily. Financially 👍🏻👍🏻.  Lots of good cigars. So much to be grateful for, life is good.

Without listing the long list of things that went wrong this year, I tend to focus on what I am grateful for. Looking at the positive side of things works for me and I have so much to be grateful for, even though the negatives outway the positives. I hope those that have had a bad year can focus on the positives. Hoping for a better and positive 2025 to everyone.

I voted for (4) all things considered. Lots of good times with friends and family, completed the Wyoming Cutt-Slam and camped/fished all over those mountains like a dirtbag for a few weeks, my son got married... would have voted for (5) but for a couple bummers. But all in all good!
