How would you break that $5000 up?

You know the rough prices of cigars at the time so it shouldn't be too hard.

Would have gone deep on Trini. $5000 in Trini in 2019 would have probably kept it in my rotation for 20 more years.

I would go with things that age well and where prices are through the roof now, bigger ticket items:

Trinidad Colonials 24 ($325) Just one box

2 boxes each of the following COH:

Siglo III, IV and V tubos 3x15 ($300,$365,$400) 

Maybe Esplandidos ($675)

Maybe Robusto Supremos EL 2014 ($625)

 

How am I doing on estimating the 2019 USD prices? I am $55 over the limit

Easy, as many boxes of Fundies and CoLas $5000 would buy. That’s like $1.7 million Canadian so I figure it’s a lot of smokes 😜

I would have tried more things "for the hell of it" while staying deeply stocked in what I consider the staples (In particular: Partagas Shorts, Punch Punch, SLB of BBF). But I undoubtedly would have sampled things at random and enjoyed the freedom to do so at those 2019 prices.

I remember choosing between different boxes of Cohiba Lanceros in stores around this time, for about $USD650. And buying fabulous boxes of CoRos for $USD400, as much as you wanted. But if I could have had Fundadores, which were always scarce, then those.

That's funny because that's more or less when i started to buy boxes and what I spent at the time. Then it got me:

• 1 HDM epi 2 50 cab

• 1 RASS 50 cab

• 2 boxes of BRC

• 1 box of Mag 46

• 1 box of Monte 1 

• 1 box of Monte 2

• 1 Lusitanias 50 cab

• 1 box of JL 2 and 2 of JL 1

• 1 plpc 50 cab

• 2 Party shorts 50 cab

• 1 box of Punch Punch 

• 1 box of bbf 

• 1 box of Gigantes

• 2 boxes of Punch Coronations

• 2 boxes of bcj 

And a few boxes of huhc, Partagas Super Partagas and plmc. I had done my homework beforehand so I'm pretty happy with what it got me but I would go for SW and Partagas 898 if I could.

I was pretty happy with what I bought around that time, stocked up on plenty of current production DCs. 

But if I had the time again, would've got a box of Cohiba Siglo VI and Esplendidos. Also a box of Diplomaticos Bushido and probably tried harder to get some Don Alejandro and Bolivar Coronas Gigantes (which have escaped me now, when I find the odd single its a price I can get a box of something else for). 

I also saw Sancho Panza Sanchos and the odd box of SLR DC's around at decent prices then too. Should've pulled the trigger but I didn't know the cigar version of Skynet would activate a few years later. 

Thank God for BR, it's helped me get some things I never thought I could.
