Cuban Cigar Nicotine Kickers

Does anyone have a particular cigar that gives a them a real nicotine kick?

I had a HdM Epi Deluxe a couple of days ago that made me feel a touch queasy despite having quite a few cigars over the preceding few days. This is the second time this cigar has tried to put me on my arse, although a small sample of two, I wondered if anyone else had a repeat offender?

The draw on the most recent was fairly tight so I might have green a bit over zealous trying to get something out of it.

Bolivar is the most nic heavy in my opinion, but I've never had one even get me close to feeling sick. Plenty of New Worlds have, though.

The only CC that gave me a similar experience was an HdM Epicure Especial. I've yet to have a second stick so I can't judge if this is a repeat offender.

Maybe it's because I'm a slow smoker or maybe because I've smoked a pack of Camel a day for 20 years, but I've never experienced nicotine narcosis with any cigar, CC or NC.

I wouldn't try to "speed smoke" a fresh RYJ Cazadores though.

Cuban cigars have gotten a milder IMO since 2008. Cigars in the portfolio that still have the ability to make you go green are:

JL1, R&J Cazzie, Boli tubo no 3, BBF, MAG 46...maybe still a Party 898. But they have gotten a lot sweeter as have the Presidentes.

The only time I get a nice hit with a Cuban is sometimes at the end of a Double Corona. But it's pleasant lol. I smoked a Padron '26 that kicked my ass once. And various other cigars in the NC world can be rather nic heavy, like Opus X or Oliva Melanio.

In general, I would say any of the EL's with a darker wrapper tend to pack a punch.

Way back when I smoked a CORO that came from a retailer in Toronto that turned me green and had me puking. Mag 46 have the most nicotine that I can remember but I haven’t smoked one recently. Young PLPCs can pack a punch.

I had one of the Montecristo Dantes (the EL from 2016) and it sent me sideways. So much so - that the other nine in the box have remained untouched since (nearly 7 years!).

For me it's an individual cigar thing. I had a Punch Punch a few years back that got me high! Given that Punch Punch is one of my favorites and it's never happened again, I'd say it was just the tobacco in that individual cigar. I smoked an Oliva V Lancero from 2017 last night. This is one of my regular rotation cigars and is an awesome smoke. I could only smoke ½ of the Lancero last night because I could feel the nicotine kick coming on - that's was a one time occurrence over almost 2 boxes. So again, an individual cigar thing.

For me as an NC and CC smoker I've found my experience to be somewhere around 4 or 5 CCs to 1 NC in terms of nicotine strength.

Probably the most intense/sick I've ever gotten from a cigar was last year with a 2016 party 898. I was on my ass for hours after that.

I've yet to smoke all of those but have a box of JL1 and Mag 46 that are waiting to be cracked in a year or so.

My father in law went green after hooning his way through a Nudie PC on a very hot day a few weekends ago, he doesn't often smoke and was eager to get into some food and got a bit of zealous puffing away like a steam train, I almost said he might want to slow down but thought better of it. He took a long lay down followed by an ice cream that put him back in the game.

An Olivia Serie V PC Melanio (I think it was called something like that) made me feel a bit queasy a few years ago, but that was only one out of the box. Fantastic little cigar, fairly one dimensional, but a good dimension nonetheless.

I've not seen any Party 898 for sale since I got back into cigars a few years ago, they appear to have fallen off the face of the earth!

An Upmann Mag 46 gave me the "cigar sickness" for the first time in many years a week or so back. They can pack a punch and hit you unawares, ramp up heavily at the end.

The Partagas petit corona especial. They’re cheap, they’re fun in the morning. The (flavor) is that of nicotine, layered with a subtle hint of tobacco with a nicotine finish!

Young Mag46 was out at dinner and lit it up after, had to hang around a little longer. Couple years ago Perdomo 10th anniversary champagne- thought it was suppose to be mild, good thing was at the house and then couple weeks ago Davidoff double corona that reviews said mild-medium, was not feeling well rest of the night.
