Gotta love a 50 cab of Lusi! Aging?

Couldn't pass this up last week in Cayo Santa Maria. Wife not as excited as me😆 These are LTA MAR 23. How long you folks find best to leave these down? Min 1yr?

I’m most likely the minority but recent production Lusi’s are great 1-2 years. I feel like I preferred the profile the best at 5-6 years of age after that they seem to lose some of what I love about Lusi.

I would aim to smoke them at regular intervals, perhaps 3 or 4 a year. That way, I could track their progress.

After ten years, I would hope to have gone through 35 sticks and have fifteen left, unless they've been smoking to my liking before then. If that's the case, knowing me, I wouldn't age them further.

In my view, it's all about finding that 'peak period', that 'sweet spot' for yourself.

Completely agree with @JohnS . I would  suggest waiting ~3 months to allow the cigars to acclimate to your storage conditions, then try one to get a gauge of the quality and aging potential. Smoking on the intervals that John suggests, enables you to enjoy the pleasure of this great cigar without denying yourself the enjoyment by waiting several years before first smoking one. Who knows, you may find they hit your 'sweet spot' of flavour within a couple of years. Recent production of PSD4 have been smoking great young. Lusis may be the same.

LOL, some here may not have that much time left on Earth! In all seriousness OP, I would go ahead and burn one now, just to savor the experience, then set the box away for whenever they call your name.

Ida brought 2 or 3 back but , can only bring back 50 a person. Of course there is the gamble to expand that a bit 😜

Quite a range of responses. Pointing to different tastes and patience.  Personally I would not touch them for at least 3 and possibly more. To each their own.

Good thing about a cab of 50 is that you can try for yourself (I would wait until march though) and even if you smoke few too early, you still have plenty to enjoy when they hit their stride.

I always have a hard time keeping my paws off things, but lately my foray into more aged stock in my humidor is confirming that waiting a certain amount of time is worth it. I am questioning my tiers of age lately and leaning towards more is better in a lot of situations (like how @Chibearsv and others have examples of how the PSD4 is a completely different animal at 5 years, whereas I usually just held em for 2-3 as the prime window).

Trouble for me is that the Lusitania and the PSD#4 are both good young. I’m not too much of a DC guy now so my take on the Lusi may be out of date but the PSD#4 to my taste is the best young robusto. Age does no harm and it’s getting easier to age cigar since cigarmegeddon.

Love the optimism. I don't think I have heard one benefit from Cigarmegeddon. But this is certainly true.

I’ve got a dozen or so Lusis that I’m going to sit on for a few more years to see if anything magical happens.  I traded the rest away.  I’m not a fan of them young and may not be a fan of them aged.  I waited out the RASS and they turned around for me as well as PLPC.  I really don’t mind a young cigar, but there certainly are some that benefit from years down and some that don’t. It’s fun to mix it up though.
