Most of us have a desktop humidor. For some it is their main humidor and for others it was likely their first before they expanded and now fulfills a role of storage for cigars that are singles, odds and ends, will smoke shortly when you get around to it, I have no idea what it is or where it came from...... humidor. :D

Forget the contents of the humidors below. Look at the organisation.

Does the organisation of your desktop resemble Picture A  (Bijan....no need to vote ;)

Picture A

or Picture B   (someone resuscitate Bijan)

My desktops hold more singles and/or "on-deck" smokes and/or stuff I have 3-5 of.  So it doesn't lend itself to perfect glam shot organization. That my story and I'm sticking to it.

I went with option 2. All my singles are separated by Spanish cedar if close enough to touch.

Ken's singles look like a giant beetle was selecting its lunch.

I selected Option 2 - although I am a bit more fussy about storing cigars with similar profiles and/or same Marca together in my humidors than Picture A shows. I use cedar sheets from cigar boxes to separate. I have a few humidors, but most of my cigars are in bulk storage in their original boxes in Tupperdors.

I'm definitely a Boveda devotee. Picture B appears to get an occasional spritz from a spray bottle of tap water for humidity control. 🤣

My desktop is as disorganized as my plans for the “next smoke”. My excuse — I worry too much to organize sticks. Ambient rh in the great PNW now is in the high 30s, and my overflow bin is about half full. On opening for about 5 minutes, the rh dropped from mid 60s to under my set value of 60. (See attached photos).

Not sure I understand why, but my two CC desktops are @Bijan-level organized and my NC one is basically at the Ken level. So I chose an option in between.

I forgot I had an NC humidor 😵💫. Haven't opened it in 3 years. I'm afraid to look. 🤣

What’s a desktop needed for? A larger mess can be made in larger humidors.

While one can store cigars in a shoebox, a shoebox is not a humidor. Decorative boxes that sit on horizontal surfaces are good for lighters and such but awful at storing cigars. MHO….

I abandoned this practice once I started building humidors and truly understanding the nature of cigars and environments.

I kept spilling out of desktops. So just caved in. (See what I did there?! But no I don't actually have one of those.)

But my singles are a reet mess, i went for 4. Will try to explain why with couple of pics.....

A tray with odds n ends

I use 3 coolidors for cigars in boxes and my nicer singles, but I have a desktop for puritos and odd singles. It's in my cold storage room so the humidity is more or less regulated from the outside (the room itself holds between 60 and 70% RH, so the bodevas aren't working so hard. That same desktop in the heated part of my basement in the low 30s RH was a nightmare).

I'm probably just short of Bijan level myself in terms of aesthetics, but still a bit OCD in terms of organization. Bottom of the desktop is puritos, then the remaining @Habana Mike plugged cigars in order of length. With the top tray being for the odd singles I got as freebies from vendors.

I am both Ken and Bijan. Depends on which humidor. NC humidor looks great. CC humidor looks great. Tray in my big cooler--absolute chaos.

A bit messy

I call you on that. I think you spent 15 mins organising the photo. Including a tripod and back lighting.

You can't fail your own standard when you are the standard. I bet they are sorted by weight from heftyest goblin to lightest ghost.

You mean taking out my iPhone and taking a pic in 2 seconds? Lol. To be fair it’s easier organizing when sticks are relatively the same length.

What the hell is a “desktop” humidor? Is it for babies?

All boxes are arranged alphabetically with custom printed magnets of brand logos to ensure ease of identification so I know where the box I’m looking for is going to be even before I get within 3 metres of the humidor door.

I tend to split up cigars between tuppers and humidors, so while they are organized, they don't look like the first pic.
