I much prefer 50 RG or less.  Don’t enjoy jawbreakers.  Then I read a comment awhile back by @JohnS which is worth repeating.  John wrote in a review about how he uses a punch (rather than straight cut) on large RG cigars, and “sips” from the back.  So I bought a punch, and ever since have been able to enjoy large RG smokes like the Rio Seco, Mag 54, etc.   Thanks very much John.  Great tip 👍

Sometimes get that tar/sap mixture from Punch method out the hole and can turn ya off. I enjoy the odd vcut though.

If the punch is too small, I get that too sometimes too.  I've been using this punch tool for a while since it's got 2 punch sizes - including a nice sharp large punch and a built in nubber, which I also like for the large RG cigars

I use a small punch, and for 52 RG+, I punch twice in a figure-8 pattern.  For RG 56+, I punch three times in a clover pattern.

Punch has always been my cut of choice. Easy and clean.

This. If didn't own any pyramids, I wouldn't even own a straight cuter.

I like my Xikar 007, but the Victorinox piece below is my daily driver, its probably the signal finest cigar accessory ever created. Haha.

I could not agree more with Corylax18. The Victorinox tool is fantastic. I often use the blade to slice off the cap just where I want it and the scissors to snip off any annoying bits of cap that if pulled off would damage the whole foot of the cigar.

So I have resorted to the Colibri Quasar punch

On mine, the cutters have become lose and just spin with the cigar.  I've even opened the tool up and tightened the screws, but that only fixed it temporarily.  This is why I bought the punch in my earlier post.

Same. It's also sad but the punch piece on a 10 dollar scorch torch lighter does the job neatly more times than a purpose built tool. Best way of getting the cigar bits out too

Don't know how long you have had it for - might want to investigate warranty coverage with Colibri or the purveyor your purchased it from.

I have a similar one similar to your Pardo punch. What I find disconcerting is that the cutting blade does not lock into position. So as you turn it is screws back into the cylinder/case.

I have found at a pinch that empty bullet casings (45ACP for example ) work perfectly

Yeah, with the Pardo, I have to hold it so it doesn’t reel the punch back in. The casing idea is a good one but I’m not sure GP is a flavor I’m looking for 😁

I only had a punch cutter a couple of weeks ago and wanted to smoke a Monte 2. I made it work 😂

I love this but it won’t last on the road travelling through airports. Have to look around.
