Placing much focus on the best of the times, let’s see everyone’s worst of the year…

QUALIFIER: Keep this away from a cost relation. If you’re about to post that your Lancero was the worst cigar you’ve had with the price tag driving that sentiment, let’s not hear about it. Looking strictly for the worst piece of Cuban Cigar trash that’s seen burnt sacrifice and when you pitched it.

Ours was hands down a 1998 R&J Romeo 2 tubo. The worst cigar we’ve ever had much less this year. Will post up photos of one shortly.

……post ‘em up!

H Upmann Connie A - UBM OCT 18  ....super plugged even after using my tool and absolutely tasteless. Very disappointed since I know how good these can be.

Been lucky only truly crappy cigar i've had this year.

Partagas Milles Fleurs. First one was totally plugged and unrecoverable. Second one was partially plugged but saved with the PerfectDraw and tasted like (what I imagine) my dog tastes like after being unwashed for the last three months. Bitter, unbalanced and totally unsmokeable. I threw it out and retreated towards a Siglo VI to sooth my pain :D

Monte #4. 2 from the same box; 1 was cocoa/coffee shortbread delight. 2 was like smoking the funny papers from the NY Times. Zero discernable flavors, like licking the cardboard box that your latest Amazon purchase showed up in...

Ruling out construction, a box of Punch Royal Seleccion number 11 from 03.

Just a rancid box. No obvious rhyme nor reason.

Not really a bad cigar, but the worst so far had been a Short Churchill from a 10-cnt, BEL NOV 21. First two were nice (not great), this one was as if a leaf was missing in the blend, or been replaced by Volado. They may need a bit more time, granted, but when you know how tasty these can be (even fresh), an utter disappointment. If inconsistency had a name, RyJ SC would qualify.

I don't know--I always have a few tossers. My rotation is pretty set so I know when a cigar isn't performing pretty quickly and I don't fight it--I pitch it.

I was asked in Cuba whether I liked RASS. I said I generally do not. I was then given one from someone's personal collection to ostensibly change my mind. Unknown date. I smoked it. It was terrible. Tossed it at the halfway point. Talk about poetic. So I would have to go with that one as worst of the year.

Same marca and vitola as the OP, just 18 years later. A 2016 RyJ No. 2 tubo. I got a box of them last year when I was really starting to buy Cubans. At the given price, I thought why not, what's the worst that could happen. I've smoked 5 of them now and I like them less each time. The most recent one was a few weeks ago and I don't remember specifics, I just remember that it had no real flavor to speak of.

Monte 3 from a 5 pack, no date provided. Absolutely awful, didn't want to burn and when it did, it was like a burning trash bag. Even worse is that the first couple of puffs were brilliant, pure cocoa powder.

A couple of nights ago I had a Jose L Piedra Cazador from a 5 pack I got at the Salzburg Hauptbahnhof in 2018 that was pretty rough, not sure I got halfway through before tossing it in the grill.

One of the new range of RyJs smoked in a St James (London) cigar store and felt it was all hype and no delivery, just flavourless.  Also had an Upmann Mag54 smoked at JJ Fox and felt it was pretty underwhelming.  Overall 9/10 Cuban smokes this year have been great.

Super Partagas MTO MAR21. I was excited about trying this cigar and the first one out of the box was terrible. Crappy burn, harsh flavors and refused to stay lit. Smoked like a short filler. I was worried the whole box was like this but I'm 6 cigars in and they're about half and half. The good ones aren't great but are smoke-able. The bad ones are just trash.

Monte Cristo #4, 5/18

Inconsistent doesn’t begin to describe this box.

RyJ Short Churchill SOR DIC 20

The first three that I've smoked from this 10 cnt box were 'okay'. After letting them rest another 9 months or so I was hoping for something great to happened and was utterly disappointed. Unbalanced, underfilled and absolutely terrible aftertaste. Tossed it and didn't look back.

What other to expect from that code 😂

Seems the SC has fallen off a good deal from the OR / early releases, when they were just great - and always were.

Awful D4, surprisingly underfilled and everything else bad under the Sun.

As much as I love them rg panatelas,  was also the worst cigar I’ve had in 2022, and 2nd and prolly 3rd worst as well. Straight tent pegs, unsalvageable

I played a golf Mem-Guest last week/weekend...many smokes.  Smoked multiple Partagas Salomones, P2s, Diplomaticos 2s, and an HDM LCDH.  They all pretty much tasted like cardboard except for one Salomone.  These were all '19-21 stock.

H. Upmann Half Coronas UBM Dic 18. First two out of the box left me wondering if they were even composed of tobacco. They seem to be a forum fave but the flavor of these was gag-inducing. Appallingly awful.

Probably a flavorless wind tunnel of an H Upmann Magnum 50 UEB OCT 19.  Like smoking thin air through a straw.

The first Mag 50 I ever smoked was like that. It just quickly disappeared into ash and left no memory.

Upmann Coronas Major tubos.  I thought I'd give these a try since they're nearly the same size as the Noellas, which I like, and I thought maybe I can find some value.  Nope, they don't taste the same by a long shot.

Dip 2 RAT JUL 21
I love this cigar and have gone through a box each year for the last few years. Never once had an issue, not one, in over a hundred cigars. Then a couple of months ago, after a long day, long week in fact, I though - I know what I want to soothe the soul... Dip2 from the current box, the first half dozen of which have been majestic.
Absolute nightmare. Plugged, wrapper curled off, wouldn't stay alight, tasted like used cat litter (as is traditional, I have to say I've never tasted used cat litter - or unused for that matter. Am I digging a hole here?). I almost cried. I needed that cigar to deliver and it kicked me in the nuts and laughed as I curled up on the floor. I'm still bitter.

I'm having one now from the same box and it's beautiful...
