Popular Post Chibearsv Posted March 3, 2022 Popular Post Posted March 3, 2022 Can’t say I have a major preference on ring gauge. A good cigar is a good cigar. In my oldish age, I really do appreciate the variety. 9 1
bishop532 Posted March 3, 2022 Posted March 3, 2022 As I’ve gone on I prefer the skinny gauges more and more. When I started I’d guess my average rg was 48-52. Now it’s probably 38-42. 1

Popular Post Habana Mike Posted March 3, 2022 Popular Post Posted March 3, 2022 While my preferences have not necessarily changed, the ring gauges I smoke have increased to accommodate the availability. 9
Popular Post Corylax18 Posted March 3, 2022 Popular Post Posted March 3, 2022 My preferences haven't changed, but my tolerance for larger gauges has. As Mike said, there have been alot of cigars released in the 50rg+ category over the last decade plus. Most of them not for me, but some where/are great cigars. I still prefer sub 50, really mid 40s and below, but I have more 50, 52 and 54 rg cigars than ever. 5
Popular Post HDGSN Posted March 3, 2022 Popular Post Posted March 3, 2022 I tend to live in the 38-50 world. 4 2
Dr vonPuffenberg Posted March 3, 2022 Posted March 3, 2022 Over the 5 years or so that I’ve been smoking, my preference has moved towards narrower rings 2
cgoodrich Posted March 3, 2022 Posted March 3, 2022 Haven’t changed my preference since I started. 38-50, preferencing the 40-46 range the most. I have a smaller mouth (although my wife would disagree 😂) so rarely over 50. The only ones over that I buy by the box are piramides and Monte Edmundo. 2
avaldes Posted March 3, 2022 Posted March 3, 2022 I used to smoke a LOT of lonsdales and dalias. Add in Coronas and CCE, that was at least half of my stock, maybe 2/3. Today I have a lot more piramides/belicosos and robustos, plus PC’s. Mostly due to cost and availability. 2
Edicion Posted March 3, 2022 Posted March 3, 2022 Used to be a Robusto or Robusto Extra fan but now find myself smoking a wider range of RG from 38-56 these days but much less of 46/48, Corona / Hermoso #4 vitolas, and almost no Piramides. 1
OrangePaw Posted March 3, 2022 Posted March 3, 2022 Robusto and petit corona are my go to sizes now. 1
Kitchen Posted March 3, 2022 Posted March 3, 2022 Started out enjoying Robustos and moved down a bit. Now I find the 46/48 ring gauge to be the sweet spot most of the time. If HSA produced a full length corona, or extra, for all brands, I'd probably smoke those though. Also, I would much rather a true Churchill, 47x7, be the standard big guy then a Double Corona. 2

This ^^ Although there really aren't many 50+ RG cigars I buy regularly and only one or two over 52. There's just no substitute for Monte PE and the Trini bunch. Other than those I can't think of any 50+ RG regular production cigars I actually like, so it's not even really an issue for me. 50 I have no issues with but I have always preferred the 48 Hermosos over the 50 Robustos. My favorite RG is 44. 2
wine_junkie Posted March 3, 2022 Posted March 3, 2022 Started out with 47/48 (Churchill and DC) and have grown to love the cigars in the 52 Ring gauge with a healthy proportional length….size does matter to me…it’s a part of the smoking experience (please save the jokes I opened wide up for here) 1
dicko Posted March 3, 2022 Posted March 3, 2022 I'm smoking larger RG for sure but as others have posited it may just be that newer releases have trended that way.Sent from my SM-G986B using Tapatalk 1
Pharmacovigilant Posted March 3, 2022 Posted March 3, 2022 My prefs have definitely changed in recent years. Lately I’m fixed on the PLMCs (deliciosos) 33RG and MdO4’s (palmitas) 32RG. In the 38-42 range, I’m smoking through lanceros, Espy2’s, Monte1’s, various Coronas and PC’s. Haven’t purchased anything over 46RG for quite some time. The pendulum may eventually swing back but I’m happy where I am right now. 3
Ford2112 Posted March 3, 2022 Posted March 3, 2022 I tend to like variety so I try to have a little of everything RG wise. Seems to me that petit coronas and robustos dominate my collection right now. 2

sw15825 Posted March 3, 2022 Posted March 3, 2022 42 to 52. I still and always will love a Corona Gorda. It seems perfect to smoke and in the hand. I remember 20 years ago a robustos looked really fat to me. Now, not so much compared to these jawbreakers. Lol. 2

Don't think there are many choices in production at 44 RG, only 4 according to CCW Outside of the Half Coronas and the JLP only the Coloniales. I just got to love the Franciscos Boli CE. About 1/2" longer than the Coloniales, which I do find a bit short. It's just the perfect RG for me, although I'm not a fan of the Half Corona vitola. I don't know how I'd feel about a 45 however. Might like that as well, however there's only ever been one parejo with a 45 RG--the Felipe 94 vitola Partagas Royals de Partagas in 2003. 2
targa88 Posted March 3, 2022 Posted March 3, 2022 Despite Cuba Tobacco's propensity to go for LE/SE and larger ring gauges. My personal taste has progressed in the opposite direction. Max 50RG, but would typically prefer the 42-46 RG. Ironically it seems more and more difficult to find the smaller ring gauges. Not sure whether it is a function of supply and demand - or competency... Potentially it is easier to roll a Mag50 or Connie B then a lancero or panetela 2
djrey Posted March 3, 2022 Posted March 3, 2022 With CC I find 50 to be my preferred size. I used to prefer 42-46 but lately have been on the 50 kick buying lots of Robustos. Just feel that these blends are packed with flavor and burn a little slower and cooler.
jakebarnes Posted March 3, 2022 Posted March 3, 2022 When I started it felt like I chased larger ring gouges. I find myself mostly in the 42-50 range now with a bias towards 42 and affinity for 38. Lonsdale, dalias and marevas tend to dominate my humidor with robustos and some pyramide/Campana as a change of pace. Wish there were more Party SdC and LGC MdO out there though. Definitely a market that seems to be more phased out, and I love those lines. 2
Mr. Japan Posted March 3, 2022 Posted March 3, 2022 Always preferred 38 to 48 as best, then 34-38 and 48-52 is second in line. I dislike over 52 even if I had some good smokes .It just does not fit my mouth 😉 2
