if he has had experience with NCs, I'd avoid the "weaker" Cubans - QD corona, Trinidad (in general, but Esmeralda if I had to choose one), Sir Winston

if he has no experience with any cigars, I'd avoid the "stronger" ones - BBF, Partagas Lusi, PSD4

as a general rule, toss them a hdm epi 2. thats like the ultimate gateway drug to CCs

I wouldn't give any Cohiba, Trinidad nor Quai D'Orsay to a newbie of cuban cigars (but they are smokers of NC). 

I would give them a Mon 2 , D4 or BFF to introduce them to this new world.
