This popped up on another board that doesnt have as much traffic...the statement that was made was that empirical evidence would lead us to believe that Siglo 5 is not and has not been rolled at El Laguito for a very long time...maybe more than a decade.  I personally cannot recall seeing a box or tubo that was EL rolled.

Please feel free to contribute your experience and if you have any Sig 5s that are EL rolls please by all means let us know! Thanks, MB

I would surmise the following in regards to this question:

  1. The Partagas 8-9-8 and Cohiba Siglo V are the last dalias (i.e. 43 ring gauge x 170 mm or 6¾ inches in length) in regular production.
  2. Both vitolas are produced on a limited basis, judging by availability in the past few years.
  3. The release of the Asia-Pacifico Regional Edition Punch 8-9-8, also a dalia, in late 2019 saw a hiatus in stock of Partagas 8-9-8 and Cohiba Siglo V
  4. The Partagas 8-9-8, Cohiba Siglo V and Punch 8-9-8 Regional Edition have all shared the 'LMB' factory code.

I have also seen the Cohiba Siglo V with a 'REG' factory code but never an El Laguito 'MAR' one. As we know, there a variety of Cohiba vitolas and even the Partagas Serie E No.2 that have been produced with an El Laguito factory code of late.

On recent production Partagas 8-9-8s, I have a TLE SEP 2020 box, and I’ve also seen AME and MSU recently posted (I think, might be off on that last one).

edit: AMP (not AME) and MTS (not MSU).

AME was the code for La Corona from late 2012 to early 2014 (replaced by EML).  I myself haven’t seen 898s rolled at La Corona.  MSU is the Partagas factory so that makes sense they’d roll 898.  I saw a lot of Talismen from Partagas but not many other Cohibas.

I like the original poster’s question.  My s5 are from RAE which was a stunning provincial factory during 2014-2015.  I’ve never been able to pinpoint its transition exactly but I’m 80% sure it’s the REG factory.  Some nice Cohibas from REG of late.  CCEs for sure.  And - to continue this - I’ve never seen a CCE rolled at El Laguito.

I've got a MEL 07 from a trade. I believe that was el Laguito at the time.

Oh snap.  That’s before my code knowledge starts.  I have no clue what EL was back then.  I’m sure you’re right.  Damn - that sounds like a nice trade!

El Laguito:

CLE 2001-03; MKO 2003-04; PFY 2005; PLM 2006; MEL 2007-08; LBT 2009; TEU 2010-2011

😂

Well I also have 3 PLM CCEs left from January 2007.

@ATGroom can you do a quick DB scan of CCW for EL Siglo Vs?

🤔

Nevermind... Found one on FOH:

Edit: reference to some MEL ones:

Sooooo…what’s the consensus? They have been rolled at EL in the past…or no?

I don't think the OP ever questioned that they were EL rolled in the past.  The statement was, "for a very long time...maybe more than a decade".  Based on what I've read above, looks like it may be true that no one yet has seen an EL box of Vs after 2010

We should delete all but 3 or 4 of the responses. I don't know why everyone takes these threads as an opportunity to post every box code they've ever gotten, except for the ONE in question here.

They may have been rolled at EL over the last Decade, but it appears no member(that's seen this thread at least) has a box to verify it.

@Bartolomeo's 13 and 19 year old boxes are the most recent we can track. I think we would have found a box from the last decade by now, but they might be out there.

It's interesting because I have Siglo III from Laguito, only 1 RG and 5/8" shorter than a Siglo V. You could theoretically use the same molds for both and just trim them short.

Yes, EL was rolling almost all Cohiba until the late 90s although I recall a CA article in 1992 stating a large portion of Robustos and Esplendidos were being made at Partagas. https://www.cigaraficionado.com/article/cubas-cohiba-7838

It seems like MEL 07 is pretty much the last Siglo V confirmed rolled at EL.

It would be interesting to do a full analysis of unusual vitolas and factories to confirm these molds don't move.
