Ginseng Posted May 15, 2021 Posted May 15, 2021 Guys, I'm thinking about picking up a kilt for the warm season. Really and truly. So, I'd like to know if anyone has occasion to wear one of the modern utility kilts. Not necessarily the traditional ones for pomp. but as regular wardrobe? Recommendations?

I would avoid Wool or is that the traditional kilt ? do they come in other fabrics ? wicking perhaps ? just my thoughts at the moment...
Kevin48438 Posted May 15, 2021 Posted May 15, 2021 I met a guy on a trail who uses one for hiking. He loves it. It’s made of synthetic materials and quick drying and fully modern. I would certainly consider it myself for a long distance hike or if I hiked more. Sorry, not much more than that. Just an idea that a search for a hiking kilt may turn up an option you like. 1
Popular Post Fosgate Posted May 15, 2021 Popular Post Posted May 15, 2021 I don't know if your single or not but if you start wearing a kilt you might want to plan on being single for awhile. Manscape the boys and use a good hand soap like Dr Squatch, and anti chaff chamois cream. Second if your wearing mid or full length briefs or boxer shorts, switch to a short brief or try those briefs with the separate pouch in the front to park the boys. It's the decent thing to do rather than advertise the circus is in town by wearing a kilt. https://www.amazon.com/Separatec-Mens-Underwear/dp/B083ZCB1QK/ref=sr_1_13?dchild=1&keywords=mens+briefs+compartment+front&qid=1621102631&sr=8-13 1 7

Mickey D Posted May 15, 2021 Posted May 15, 2021 Never considered or dreamed about wearing a kilt. My boots and cowboy hat wouldn’t quite match. 4

riderpride Posted May 15, 2021 Posted May 15, 2021 Never got one, but you always gotta respect a man in a kilt. It takes a special kind of person. 1

Meesterjojo Posted May 15, 2021 Posted May 15, 2021 Funny this. My girlfriend recently got me some sort of wannabe samurai leggins/kilt made of linen. I never wear it in town, but outside of work I'm never in town. For messing around outside and in the house is nice. Kilts are somewhat popular with a certain set here in Texas. They love what's called a utilikilt. Look em up. There's a good sized group that claim Scottish ancestry here. Just look at the hugely disproportionate number that died at the Alamo. 1
Ginseng Posted May 16, 2021 Author Posted May 16, 2021 Thanks, gents. I'm going to do a little research. After this crazy year, it seems fitting to stretch out a bit stylistically. 1
mprach024 Posted May 16, 2021 Posted May 16, 2021 Plenty of poor souls get made fun, teased, laughed at, or profiled for things they can’t control. This one will be all your own fault and completely avoidable. My advice is get some comfortable pants or shorts for whatever utility you are doing. Life doesn’t have to be so hard. 2 1

Ginseng Posted May 16, 2021 Author Posted May 16, 2021 Yep. I'm not a shorts-wearing guy. Only for working out. And I feel this would be something a little different and I darn well feel I can pull it off. Pictures to come. 2
Fosgate Posted May 16, 2021 Posted May 16, 2021 Hipster have started wearing them. So I guess that ruined the fad. 4
Kevin48438 Posted May 16, 2021 Posted May 16, 2021 Yeah man, go for it. I think if it’s a quality piece of clothing you’ll get more curiosity than ridicule. But, that’s fashion. Have fun! And don’t get arrested on a windy day...

Fuzz Posted May 17, 2021 Posted May 17, 2021 @Ginseng just admit it, you want to wear a skirt. Not that there's anything wrong with that. Lots of guys want to wear women's clothing. It's not that odd of a fetish.
Ginseng Posted May 17, 2021 Author Posted May 17, 2021 Hmm, I do admit that removing women's clothing has been a lifelong hobby of mine. However, putting it on has not. Besides, I'd make a pug ugly lady.
