From a European LCDH.

Found this email couple days ago. I thought I deleted them all.

PS: I usually delete anything that shows prices of cigars from my inbox. My wife still thinks my most expensive cigars are around $5. Or I think she still thinks so.

Superiores have gone up quite a bit. I was loving them sub-$100. Pretty much all of the LCDHs have gone up 10-25% in the last 5-7 years.

Regios--unfortunately, I think you paid top dollar. Average price today is ~$220.

All cigars have really gone up quite a lot.  I haven't wrapped my head around how much cigars cost now.

My biggest regret is not experimenting with Cohiba back in 2013/2014

I experimented with Cohiba in college.

I'm just sticking my head in the sand and am buying as much recent production as I can. Prices arent going down, but quality sure will soon.

Amen. Same here. I'm planning on knocking up the wife soon and unleash a little Fosgate upon the world. (You're all going to die, sorry in advance). Before then I'm stocking up on CC's for the same reason. Quality may deteriorate again, price continues to increase and my disposible income may decrease, potential devaluation of currency etc. So it's game on until then.

I found my excel sheet from 2014 that I used for tracking prices and orders. Looking at most vitolas it seems everything on average has gone up roughly 1/3rd since then.

The ‘19’s will surely go down as the best season in years. Haven’t tried any 20’s yet.

It’s funny but whatever has been hitting the market for the last few years has been getting great reviews 18,19 and now 20. Quite a run and my bank account has taken quite a hit in production sticks. I keep telling myself future purchases only for special boxes. Then “oh my god, only half a box of Boli CJ” or only 1 1/2 boxes of Epi 1’s. That was this morning.
I’m closing in on having enough cigars to ride out a long bad spell and still not need to buy anything.
in truth I’ll need to buy another cooler soon. And then another.
Even if prices were to stay flat (curious if when if the post pandemic world has fewer sticks getting smoked and more made?), aged stock on hand will always command a premium. Prices are unlikely to stay flat though. Then again, I did Pay less for a box of SLRs a month ago than OP did 8 years ago so who knows. . .

still fun to see the prices. Thanks for posting.

to be fair to HSA and the rest of the cigar world, that is not significantly more than inflation

That seems like a lot for shipping.

So far, from what I’ve tried the 20s are even better

Always have a laugh when people complain about cigar prices when it's 10 20 or 50 notes a BOX. I received an email from a vendor in Oz this morning . A box of Petit Edmundo $664 for a 10 count box. Yes 10 . + 12.95 shipping ,😎🌴

Down in the lucky country.

That’s one reason I’m frustrated with how well 19’s and 20’s are smoking. It seems many people here want to future proof themselves by buying deep now due to the likely price increase, quality decrease and USD value drop etc.

I don’t want easy to smoke boxes now. I have enough to smoke now. I want boxes that can stand up to 10 years so I can buy deep and ride out any storm. The seemingly lack of legs really concerns me with recent production.

A lot of old cigar receipts went the way of an older computer... Some of my friends and I could sniff out some mighty tasty cigar prices back in the day. I will have you know (for the record) that our host here can (could) also whip up some deals you would never believe today.

There was a day when those Coronas, Petit Coronas and Lonsdales were just cigars no one wanted. Why smoke one of those when you could smoke a Robusto?

I found a receipt for 2 boxes of SLR Serie A, it was a line from a 6 box order of mine. I thought some about posting it... but it is enough to bring a man with a strong constitution to his knees!!! Maybe another day...! -LOL

In the days were Monarch's, LGC's, and Royal Selections were giveaways.  Miss all three and miss the prices even more!

lack legs? really though? i think this is just a thing ppl have been throwing around ...how do we really know yet? ive had plenty of 19/20 blends that i feel will age well .....smoking well young doesnt mean it wont age well

This is obviously pure speculation as we cant always accurately predict the future. Lets look at PLPC for example. PLPC of past was known to be mongrel when young and that then smooths out to the caramel that everyone loves in 5-7 years. I have 3 cabs from 19-20 and they display zero mongrel except for the last 3rd on a few that I have smoked. In fact, I find the first 3rd void of much character at all and just light tobacco notes with some woodiness. Does this mean they'll be dudes in 7 years? Not necessarily. But nearly all of my experiences in life with cigars and wine tell me to be concerned. I certainly hope I am wrong because I cannot possibly smoke all the boxes I have from 19-20 in a few years time. 😆  🤣

Smart man. If everyone isn't buying as many 19/20s as they can possibly afford, they're fools...

I've said it quite a few times now, but 19s will go down as all-time-greats (and you'll wish you had bought more).

That ain't happening again.

You are right and I don’t even like regios that much.

$20 was not a small amount of money back then, for a cigar. Still good deal considering the hype for siglo vi now
