Every week we're going to have a poll about a certain quote and who said it. Could be a famous quote from history, a line from a movie or a song, the opening line to a novel, something very topical, etc...

We'll create a poll with the quote and a question based on it, from the answer options you just have to pick the correct one.

Voters who pick correctly go into the draw for an El Pres Sampler!!    (Drawn Tuesday morning, Brisbane time. Please note: Polls don't show on Tapatalk, but you can participate via a web version of the site)

NO GOOGLING!! And it may not help you anyway - depending on how tricky we get with the question. We're using the honour system. It's just a bit of fun. If you know, you know. If you don't, have a stab in the dark or an educated guess (if you prefer that term ;)).

You may elaborate about your choice in the topic thread below if you wish but no posting of anything that gives the answer away to those who haven't voted.

Now you know the drill, vote away!

Good luck!! :cigar:

Let's see how my luck on the draw is this week. Love these competitions, what a great benefit to the members of this board!

If you haven't read it, "Slaughterhouse-Five" is a great book. Not to say the other books aren't great reads either. Actually, read all the books listed.

agree fuzz. absolutely fabulous stuff. worth reading lots of his others as well.

have read some dostoevsky but not that one. doesn't every schoolkid have to read 1894?

tried brave new world a couple of times but there was something about it that i could never get past (can't remember what it was but i remember that every time i started, i got nowhere).

I think a lot of people get lost/frustrated with the seemingly disjointed narrative where it jumps from one situation to another.

I found it helped to imagine it more like movie, which jump-cuts between multiple places.

Easier than the wacky words game. Vocabulary is ostensibly abhorrent and deficient to a capacious degree!

I do read a fair amount and enjoy the occasional film so all good!

I knew this answer. I picked the bubble that I wanted to select. I went to vote, hit the arrow key and the dot moved and I voted for the wrong one!

I hate this book- could never finish reading it, even though I have tried maybe a dozen times. Karma, maybe?

Ha! I actually just started to listen to this on audio book!

I'm liking the new theme to this competition, they're like scavenger hunts. Go watch this movie, go read this book, etc. I had no idea what the answer was this week and planned to make a wild guess until I happened to pass by a local library yesterday. I went perusing and got an answer, no googling whatsoever. Let's see what next week has in store.

Hmmm, well played. Fair?

That's for Moe to decide if he'll be adding libraries as verboten for research!

It's an honour system. No one at the 19th hole wants to be around the guy who cheats on his scorecard. ;)

If you know, you know. If you don't and want to go research the answer by actually consuming the text, then go for it! I think that's a bonus to playing the game.

Just don't take the shortcut to the answer by Googling or similar. Go the educated guess instead. We're not playing for sheep stations. :cigar:
