El Presidente Posted February 24, 2020 Posted February 24, 2020 It was late. You were just looking. Hell, you have been working hard and it has been a great year. I didn't really drink a half bottle of Diplomatico? Damn. You have a touch of a rum hangover and you go to check your emails. "Congratulations from Bond Roberts on the purchase of the #### Gran Reserva for $4000 USD. Please proceed to payment area" Fast forward a month and they are there in front of you. Which of the options from the poll sum you up the best. 1
Popular Post Chas.Alpha Posted February 24, 2020 Popular Post Posted February 24, 2020 I might could get a few hundred bucks for the wedding ring that my wife would have thrown at me... ? 3 4
Popular Post MrGlass Posted February 24, 2020 Popular Post Posted February 24, 2020 I have a hard enough time cracking regular boxes. They just look so pretty when they're whole. 5
dshot Posted February 24, 2020 Posted February 24, 2020 I'm in the "I will likely look at it for the rest of my life. I want to smoke one.....but I can't crack the box" camp. I would take every puff counting how much it's costing me. Reserva singles are a better fit for me when I can find them. Less guilt in the long term.
Chibearsv Posted February 24, 2020 Posted February 24, 2020 $300-400 cigar. I hope they are spectacular because I'm smokin 'em.
FireMedic Posted February 24, 2020 Posted February 24, 2020 Smoke at my leisure, life's too short for the bullshit. No regrets. Having said that "my leisure" is likely a very long time 4
Popular Post tigger Posted February 24, 2020 Popular Post Posted February 24, 2020 I've owned some expensive cigars and some not so expensive cigars in my life. I've never owned a cigar that wasn't bought to smoke. 7 1
Cairo Posted February 25, 2020 Posted February 25, 2020 If my wife ever saw them she would put a yellow sticky tape on them that said "non compos mentis", but I would smoke them anyway. ?
Monocle Posted February 25, 2020 Posted February 25, 2020 33 minutes ago, Hoepssa said: Michael Jordan smokes them everyday. And Alex's customs, which are modestly less expensive.
garbandz Posted February 25, 2020 Posted February 25, 2020 just before I bought these, you handed me YOUR credit card, and said "Have a Great Time ,mate ".......... What a nice guy............ 1
clickbangdoh Posted February 25, 2020 Posted February 25, 2020 I'd be flipping and buying a nice supply Fundys and sundry others ?
TheCigarslayer Posted February 25, 2020 Posted February 25, 2020 I've smoked some stellar cigars and some expensive cigars, but never really understand the GC prices...MAYBE a single but the 100 I dropped on a Behike a few times, I'd generally rather get a a box of Partagas Shorts 1
Smatthews607 Posted February 25, 2020 Posted February 25, 2020 As much as I would like to think that I would flip the box after a couple years at a healthy profit, in truth I would never be able to part with the box for fear of missing the pleasure of the smoke. But I would be so afraid of being disappointed in a less than amazing cigar, that I would never open the box to even try one. So best to just stay away from the rum in the first place and never be tempted. Now, where is the bourbon at? 1
Habana Mike Posted February 25, 2020 Posted February 25, 2020 Chose option 4 though I typically buy 2 in the event I need to exercise option 3....
Derboesekoenig Posted February 25, 2020 Posted February 25, 2020 Smoke them and share them. That's what this hobby is all about. And who gives a flying.....about Michael Jordan? ? Lots of people smoke cigars. The better question to ask is, are GRs going to go for $4k on BR? Hmmmm I guess we'll find out
mtd057 Posted February 25, 2020 Posted February 25, 2020 I would smoke and share with no regrets. I look at whisky the same way, it was meant to be consumed and shared with friends
LLC Posted February 25, 2020 Posted February 25, 2020 Nothings Is off limits but I’d limit how often I chose to enjoy one. I’d enjoy that box over many years.
Thirds Posted February 25, 2020 Posted February 25, 2020 Why do I get the feeling I’m going to do something similar in the near future? It’s like you’re a fortune teller displaying my fate for all to see... I pay the card in full every month regardless of how steep it gets and I’ve found any regrets cease once I’ve settled up. This makes for a lot of unnecessary purchases and limited windows of regret. But “future me” appreciates all the down payments “current me” is making for future smoking enjoyment. reason for separation: irreconcilable differences/Bond Roberts 1 2
zappaFREAK Posted February 25, 2020 Posted February 25, 2020 Life is short. Smoke em if you got em! 1
David88 Posted February 25, 2020 Posted February 25, 2020 If I had a box, I would have to smoke them! I would hate to see something like that go to waste sat on a shelf/in the humi not being enjoyed
Dusk Posted February 25, 2020 Posted February 25, 2020 Smoke one as soon as they arrive, another once they acclimatise & the rest at my leisure ( after smuggling them into the house & destroying any evidence of the transaction my wife could stumble across ) 2
shippers Posted February 25, 2020 Posted February 25, 2020 I honestly don't think I could smoke them - as much as I would want too... not when I could flip them five years later and buy how many boxes of regular production to put away. 5 years later and $8000 richer should buy a lot of Sir Winnies... I hope ?
