The article . I love PCs and I love RyJ. IM SO EXCITED!!!! I had to share this. If it’s next week in Swiss it probably means Sweden will have it within a month or two (and hopefully the rest of the world). I was just thinking about them and thought they were canceled so imagine my excitement.

Btw, feels like habanos is gearing a little bit towards thinner RG. Felt like they only released 50+ for a while but the last few years they been coming with some on the thinner side. Can’t wait until they release the capitols

I guess Cuba couldn't find anyone dumb enough to front the packaging materials so they had to save up some cash to get them made...

We'll see if these are just Mille Fleurs stuffed in tins for twice the price.

Definitely excited to give both of these a try.  The tins alone will be nice little travel cases.

I was beginning to think they would never come out. It's nice to have more options in this category. I get to enjoy smaller cigars more often than larger ones these days so this release is right in my wheelhouse

Their new packaging factory looks to be making a big impact.

I love PCs, I smoke a ton of them, but adding an 8th to a Marca that already had 7 is astoundingly stupid. Why couldn't they put one of the other 7 in tins? Is that what they're actually doing? 

Lets cut it to 2 or even 3 RyJs and bring back 5 or 6 discontinued PCs.

Actually, they were first announced in 2015. Wasn't a lot of hoopla, but they were on a few distributor's "new releases" lists after the festival in that year. Then they were kind of re-announced in 2017 now with the Linea Retro branding and the Partagas Capitolios added on.

Desperate enough to pay 2-3x of what the other ones cost? If you need a tin, HUHC and Monte Media Coronas are available in handy 5er tins for no markup over the regular dress boxes whatsoever.

I’ll get one pack because I love to collect the tins but that’s it for me.

I just have a bad feeling about this Linea Retro line. These tins scream duty free and what else can RyJ do with a Marevas? 

I think Partagas has some room for a great Marevas. If they could do the Party Shorts blend that would be good enough. What we don't need is anything similar to all the existing small Party offerings we already have Aristocrats/MF/Habaneros/PCE/SP. 

I also would have liked to see them use a real retro, pre-Rev band. Why not? New line--go all out. There are plenty of great vintage Party and RyJ band designs. I've always liked these:

You really think they would put MFs in them? Not even the ones that’s called Petit Corona? Have they done similar things in the past?
Btw, I have no idea when, or even if, the capitols are coming but. But given that I thought that this retro line was shelved I got my hopes up for capitols too

I understand what you’re saying but not all of the 8 ones are marevas, and RdL and MF are in the cheap and cheerful camp. The ceder ones have a distinct cedar taste and I don’t think these will have that. It has to boil down to the regular PCs or the A/T Romeo series. The romeos are very mild in body and strength. My feelings tell me that the PCs and the retro will compete against each other which is natural. Or maybe they will end up like the Boli no2 and PC, have their own lane and don’t compete.
But yea, take what I said with a grain of salt. I used the word ‘feelings’ after all.

I know they are a bit expensive but I love the tins. Like @Lotusguy I will probably get a tin and once the cigars are done put some other PCs in it.

I hear that. But leave it to HSA to still blow it, even when they're trying to do something right.

The tins are super convenient and are still useful long after the original cigars are gone. Definately the best packaging option offered by HSA in recent memory. Far superior to a 3 or 5 cardboard pack and worth a little (not 2 or 3x) premium.

Correct. They aren't all exactly Marevas, but pretty damn close. Good luck telling the difference between a 2 or 4 mm length difference, or a 2 RG difference. 

With Cuban Quality control being what it is, you probably get a few of each size in every box, regardless of what they're labelled as. ?

Minor update

Release date is around March 3rd-6th here in Sweden and that’s also when I’ll have a single one in my hand (99% confirmed). I’m gonna let it rest for a couple of weeks before trying it. Maybe I’ll review it when the RyJ weekend comp comes along. Just thought I’d share the news because it means they’re already rolled, packed, and basically ready to be shipped, which means they should arrive to retailers any day.

This release is a big deal because there are very few premium cigars made in this vitola anymore (42 ring gauge x 129 mm in length...the marevas size). Bolivar Petit Corona, Cohiba Siglo II, Montecristo No.4, Por Larranaga Petit Coronas and Rafael Gonzalez Petit Coronas. So what I'm interested in knowing is if the Romeo y Julieta Club Kings and Partagas Capitols are premium cigars or of the 'cheap and cheerful' variety, as @NSXCIGAR hinted to within this thread. I think we'll quickly find out.

Yes. Whether they are in the same league as the five I mentioned is a matter of debate, I suppose. Personally, I don't count any of the current Romeo y Julieta marevas-sized cigars in that league (i.e. Cedros de Luxe No.3, Mille Fleurs, Petit Coronas and Romeo No.2)
