JGD Posted August 10, 2019 Posted August 10, 2019 Just had a nice dinner at a restaurant called Havana in Bar Harbor, Maine. It is a Cuban themed restaurant, so I wasn’t entirely suprised that they had a selection of cigars on the menu. What did surprise me was when the waitress pointed out that they have Cuban cigars for sale. I couldn’t help myself, and I asked to see one. Quick glance was all that was needed to spot it as a fake (tell tale sign of off center Taino head). Still, pretty ballsy to advertise on the menu though. 3
dangolf18 Posted August 10, 2019 Posted August 10, 2019 Funny...I was in Beverly Hills a few weeks ago and a well-known shop had a stash of cubans for sale (real ones). I guess some shops and restaurants nowadays are more brazen with openly selling cubans. At least if they are selling fakes, they can claim that they are not selling a real Cuban product. 1
DaBoot Posted August 11, 2019 Posted August 11, 2019 If you are willing to lie about a $30 cigar, what about when the food is about to turn bad????? 1

Wailbait Posted August 11, 2019 Posted August 11, 2019 Whether the cigars are fake or not, it would be unlikely that they can even get a license to sell tobacco. Doesn’t Maine ban smoking in public places like bars and restaurants? I’m assuming that would extend to outdoor dining areas that are restaurant adjacent. 1

They said they could cut it for me and I could walk around town while smoking it. 1
Cairo Posted August 11, 2019 Posted August 11, 2019 Good bet they didn't have the required Maine tobacco license...https://www.maine.gov/dhhs/mecdc/environmental-health/el/site-files/forms/RetailTobaccoApplication.docx
BeerPimp Posted August 11, 2019 Posted August 11, 2019 I am guessing they don't know they are fakes. Either way it seems weird to put cigars on the menu but having no place to smoke them.
PigFish Posted August 11, 2019 Posted August 11, 2019 I have never been in a cigar retailer in the US that did not claim to have CCs. All you need do at a cigar shop is say, "no thanks, I only smoke Cuban cigars..." and boxes of fakes will be thrown at you! Try it sometime. -the Pig 1

Frozen North Posted August 11, 2019 Posted August 11, 2019 They should be ashamed of themselves. The prices are ridiculous as well.
El Hoze Posted August 11, 2019 Posted August 11, 2019 There are several higher end liquor stores down here in Miami that sell CCs openly depending on the neighborhood. Looking by the selection I have seen, some of them must be real I would imagine as they’re not cigars that are typically faked. Never actually bought one though so who knows!

You absolutely can. Put some flour in a tiny Ziploc bag and sell it to a cop as cocaine or mdma. See you in 2-5 years. 1
