50/50 today is all about aural pleasure preferences... yes, "AURAL". ;)  You know the drill: read the question, vote on the poll, elaborate in the thread if you so desire. Voting participants go into the draw for an El Pres sampler! - Drawn next Wednesday (Aus local time).

All about 50/50...

50/50 is a weekly poll where we find out whether or not some serious bones of contention questions can be finally be buried or will instead remain above ground as a fleshy 50/50 debate... you know, such weighty issues as these...

If given no other option:

are you a Cohiba or Monte person?

do you prefer Hunnicutt or Trapper in M*A*S*H?

Connery or Moore as Bond?

Apple or PC?

Smooth or Crunchy peanut butter?

do you prefer wearing men's or women's underwear?

Sacrificing chickens or virgins?

...that sort of standard fare.

Vote in the poll and further bolster your standpoint in the thread below if you wish. Poll Votes are public and there's a couple of sticks up for grabs for participants.

Also, PM me Polls that you'd like me to conduct on 50/50 and there'll be a prize for those we decide to use.

Entire collection, would have to be CD. But certain items I would much prefer on vinyl.

Vinyl all the way....been moving 1500 vinyl albums around with me for 40+ years. Why the heck would I change now?

I wish "Neither" was an option. I have to listen to Music while I'm driving, Vinyl just wouldn't cut it for me.

My dad has several thousand albums though and I completely understand the allure of Vinyl. But at 33 years of age, I have no desire to deal with the pitfalls/cost of any physical media.

CD for me, just for the fact I can listen to a CD anywhere.  That is the current format.  Can't spin a vinyl in my car.

Vinyl is preferred, but CD just makes it easier for compact storage; so I went with CD.

Agreed.

Whilst I chose CDs due to their portability and storage capacity, vinyl is what I should really choose. Everyone knows rock achieved perfection in 1974. It's a scientific fact.

I really can’t tell the difference between the two unless maybe if I’m doing an A/B comparison, but there is something visually satisfying about watching a vinyl record being played. The cleaning, handling, storing and potential wear and damage make vinyl an event. Even so, if I could only choose one of the two choices it would have to be CD. Luckily, I don’t have to choose.

Vinyl for sure. With all the free music services online that I can listen to via my phone/car stereo on the go it makes the decision to go vinyl easy.

I dig vinyl.  It has serious limitations as far as a playback medium, but sounds warmer and smoother in the high end in general to me.  Plus, if I'm gonna take the time to find a record in the stash, pull it out of it sleeve and all that, it must mean I really want to listen to that record.

Vinyl is nice and all, but I'm not convinced vinyl sounds better than a CD and CDs would just be some much more practical.. Have fun making digital copies of your entire collection from all your vinyls

I like the sentimentality of vinyl.  However, I listen to music on the go, mostly in the car.  This was a practical decision for me.

Absolutely CD’s. Easy storage and portable. Not that I would get rid of any of my sisters original vinyl that I have from the 50’s and 60’s.

Vinyl all the way for me. But there is a cost associated with integrating a system that can playback a quality pressing correctly. I can’t think of a more expensive hobby other than yacht racing. I also have fantastic CDs and crappy vinyl records and vice versa. In reality the industry has pushed us all to digital formats due to convenience. My 2019 Truck did not have a CD player available! The Horror! Just USB ports everywhere and Bluetooth wireless. So vinyl is an essential treat, similar to a vintage Bordeaux or a great cigar, you will know it when you hear it.
