El Presidente
Never thought I would see the day where a magazine allowed an interview with a Tech house producer to discuss Cuban cigars No Idea who he is.......but by God he has excellent taste! Kudos Torren! 5 Favourite Cuban Cigars With Torren Foot Written by Staff Writers Wednesday, 06 March 2019 09:43 Melbourne electronic producer Torren Foot shares his love of Cuban cigars. 'Be Randy' and 'Hot Sauce' tech house producer, and fresh off his appearance at Falls Festival, Torren Foot returns to the festival stage this weekend on the Gold Coast when he performs at Circus Paradise Music Festival. He'll be joined by other electronic music heavy hitters Charlotte de Witte, Hot Dub Time Machine, Bag Raiders, Dom Dolla, Motez, Oliver Huntemann and Leftfield (DJ set) plus a stack more. But before he jets north, Torren Foot shares his love of Cuban cigars. "A couple of years ago I went on a trip to Cuba and picked up a bit of a penchant for hand-rolled Cuban cigars," he says. "The history, the art, the ritual, the ceremony; I love every part of it. There’s not many things in our increasingly busy lives where we take an hour or so to just stop and be. "There are about two dozen Cuban cigar brands, or Marcas as they’re called, all of which are owned by the Cuban government. The whole country produces tobacco leaves and the government determines the volume and quality of leaves given to each Marca. "It’s all deeply political, wildly inconsistent and an industry seemingly devoid of reason. But when you put fire to leaf, sit back, take a deep breath (no inhale), and blow that creamy Cuban smoke out into the air, none of that matters. "I’m going to run you through my top 5 Cuban cigars." Montecristo Petit Edmundo I love these sticks for so many reasons. The thick ring gauge means they feel good in the hand, the flavour profile is a chocolate milkshake, and it’s short enough to put it down in under an hour; perfect for winter nights. Cohiba Robusto The Rolls Royce of Habanos. Castro himself had Cohibas rolled exclusively for himself before they went public. This, to me, is the perfect sized cigar. I love Robustos. You need to age these for about three years before you smoke them, but they’re well worth the wait. Fantastic. Fonseca No. 1 This is a very sophisticated stick, long and thin; think Audrey Hepburn in 'Breakfast At Tiffany’s'. It’s got a vanilla/ marshmallow profile, and one of the cheapest full-size cigars on the market. Partagas Serie D No. 4 Nutella. Now that I’ve got your attention... Robusto in size, which I love, and just an all-round performer. I always have a box of these to give to friends after a few sherbets. H. Upmann Connoisseur A This is a big cigar. It will probably take you two hours to smoke, but it’s a journey and a delight. It’s going to give you caramel, and it’s going to put a smile on your face. This is a special occasion stick for me. Circus Paradise Music Festival takes place at Broadwater Parklands (Gold Coast) Sunday 10 March.

Justin
Killer list! I may have to pick up some more d4’s as I’ve yet to drag Nutella out of any of the ones I currently have. The day that happens they’ll skyrocket on my personal fav’s list!
agentdaffy007
I agree with every cigar. I would also put the Partagas Serie E2. I find them as tasty as the Connie A.

J-ROB
I'll admit it...All this FoH marshmallow talk lured me in and I ordered a first box of Fonseca No.1 last week! Hopefully they will live up to the vivid delicious mental image implanted in my brain, without which I surely would not have made the leap. What a den of enablers! Anyway, I appreciate it. Keep up the good work! But I must ask who actually eats marshmallows? I haven't had one in the past 15-20 years. Work cigars into the equation and I jump into line...madness. National S'mores Day is fast approaching. If I can only find a cigar to match the right flavor profile...
