All in all it is looking good for a cracking 2019. There are certain cigars that struggled for quality from what we were seeing in 2018 that have come sprinting out of the blocks in 2019. They make up many of the positions in the top 10. Montecristo has done quite well out of it. 2019 is just a babe so it's best not to get too excited as yet. I have to say however, putting together a "What's Not" for the month was the most difficult in a year. What's Hot Montecristo Petit Edmundo For much of 2018 it was the nightclub cleaner. It has now turned into the main act. great to see it back in fine form. Partagas Series 1 LE 2017 You cannot fault the quality of the majority of these Series 1 LE. In the main smooth, dark oily and thin wrappers with impeccable construction. Partagas Serie D Number 4 (25's) Quiet performer that is smoking brilliantly. Construction is there but box to box, there are few dudders. San Cristobal El Principe Very good month for Principe after a Jeckyll and Hyde 2018. Montecristo Number 2 (25's) Hard to fault this batch of Monte. Better still, smoking rich and sweet. Partagas Shorts (50 cabs) Pips the 25's this month. Ramon Allones Specially Select (25's) Great construction and even better smoking. That sweet raisin is back in spades. Partagas E 2 (5 &25s) consistently hitting Rosado wonderland....and that is a happy place. Montecristo Edmundo superb wrapper and construction. Back with a vengeance. Cohiba Robusto You are best to put them away for 3-5. However these are excellent boxes to do so with. Perfect CORO. Partagas President The "dud to stud" transition continues. Bolivar Belicoso Finos One of the stars of the past couple of years that tailed off last quarter. It's back. Partagas Serie P Number 2 (25's) Bloody glorious boxes. Bloody glorious cigar. 6 months down and hoe in. Hoyo de Monterrey Epicure Especial Quality is back to where it should be. Delivering lashings of cream. Quai D'Orsay 54 (10's and 24's) You won't find them on the carts because they don't hang around long enough. they are doing a fine job i maintaining consistency so far. Hoyo de Monterrey le Hoyo de San Juan (25's) Great month for these. Fantastic sheen, construction and aroma at cold. Montecristo Double Edmundo (25's only). You only buy them when they are like this. All HQ at least. Por Larranaga Petit Corona Hard to find a bad cab. Lay down sally, 5 years. Cohiba maduro 5 Genios (25's) There are no dark, thisk, asbestos wrappers this month. Maduro perfection Cohiba Siglo 1 Tastiest siglo 1 in years. dark coffee, cream. touch of malevolence. perfect. What's Not Romeo y Julieta Wide Churchill Lacking any Rosado. Without a touch of rosado in the wrapper you are not getting that R&J experience. San Cristobal la Punta Just an off shipment. The wrappers are ho hum which is not where you want to be with La punta. A cigar where the wrapper plays a significant part in the molasses profile. H. Upmann Royal Robusto Underfilled. Ramon Allones Superiores Underfilled Partagas Serie D 5's This wrappers with tears and knicks. H. Upmann Half Corona A tad harsh to be in this company but there were too many that were just hastily put together. Juan lopez Seleccion 1 The replacements must have rolled these. Jesus. Cuaba Salomones Underfilled. El Rey Del Mundo Choix Supreme The first dud month in a while. One of the big improvers of 2018. Let's wait for next month. It’s almost like they completely forgot to put a leaf in the filler. Haven’t smoked it yet so who knows maybe it’s great. just curious because you can have 24 spot on and one dud. Let's say these 4 different rollers were responsible for your box. Jose is on top of his game. He has a new girlfriend, his other girlfriend and wife have no idea. he is rolling like a champion. Amaya just found out that husband Rolando has two girlfriends. She is rolling the cigars today as if her hands are on Rolando's neck. Jorge just sold a box of fake cigars to a tourist the week before. A friend was doing private salsa lessons for an american who has money but no idea. The friend said he could supply a box at 1/2 the price. Jorge has been stealing leaf from his daily rolling allocation and putting together cigars at night. Bebe is rolling like a champion. She is the gun roller in this team. While she also fills out her T shirt perfectly, she knows that she is in line for a promotion and possibly a chance for the overseas display roller position next March. Most of them are in the back rooms so if so have a good relationship you may get a box but none on the shelves.
