“The reputation of Cuban cigars has worsened over the years among true cigar aficionados. While you may still find a great regard for Cubans, it is not unlikely to find those that invest in cigars completely convert to only Gurkha’s once they have experienced our cigars,” says Danny Carroll, brand ambassador for Gurkha Cigars. “I have found that, quickly, their perceptions of where the best cigars come from are shattered.”

“For anyone who can afford the $1,000,000 price tag attached to the above trip and is interested in taking Gurhka up on its offer, you’ll have to contact the brand directly.”

I think El Prez should offer up this sort of FOH “experience”, which includes having to manage our 24:24 emails and cleaning Ken’s porch!

Some fine investigative reporting has once again saved the day, exposing the Cuban cigar industry - or any brand that isn’t Gurkha, for that matter - for the evil and misleading cult that it is. I shall celebrate this revelation tonight by setting fire to a cigar of inferior and questionable origin.

Having never had a Gurkha cigar, and considering the price of the buggers and the tacky off-putting marketing I'm unlikely to either, can anyone succinctly explain why they are considered so bad? Or are they actually decent cigars with an imposed bad image in CC circles?

May be if the makers of cigars other than Cuba say it enough it'll become true.

I've had a few and they are OK. Ain't nothing compared to, for example, a good MC#2. They just don't have the tobacco.

I shudder to think what one might mistakenly do in the process of “cleaning Ken’s porch.”  If anyone ever removes the tags from Ken’s patio chairs, it’ll be a sad day indeed.

100% aimed at novices and newcomers...that has to be 90% of their market...seasoned smokers arent smoking gurkhas

I had one B&M owner tell me they sold really well (but not as well as Drew Estate ACID cigars?). Well, I guess to each his own. American NC smokers believe all kinds of crazy wives' tales about CCs though.

Before CCs, I smoked either Drew Estate, A.Fuente, or Oliva. Drew Estate shade grown Undercrown and Acid were among the staples. Blondies, Kuba Kuba. Now....idk I guess my tastes have changed. Can't do it anymore

The NC industry has been spewing this crap for 30 years.

^This. Also, time to invest in those $700 Gurkha His Majesty's Reserve cigars lol

Nothing wrong with most NCs, but I could never do the infused cigars. Granted I've never had a $2000 cigar infused with Napoleon's cognac or whatever it is.

I would MUCH rather drink that cognac

I used to smoke all this stuff including the flavored CAOs. Then the training wheels came off. I transitioned about 10 years ago. So you can't buy 5 mixed CC singles at your local B&M. Find what you really like... Buy a box! Find friends to split boxes with. When I started comparing prices to some NCs, I'm like why wouldn't I buy CCs. I started with budget CC's... Diplomatico 2s, JL2s, Petit Edmundos, etc...

I've never looked back. I have a friend at work who smokes with me. I bring the CCs. He gifts me NC's out of guilt and to show me how great these other cigars are. I occasionally smoke them and send him a pic. Can't make it beyond the 50% mark on anything.

Tough to go back to hamburger helper after having filet mignon.
