joeypots Posted September 14, 2017 Posted September 14, 2017 Looking at James K Pollk's thread, What Would You Buy-Baby Edition, got me wondering. Which premium Julieta #2, or Cuban Churchill, do you prefer?
NSXCIGAR Posted September 14, 2017 Posted September 14, 2017 When both are at their best, price not a factor, I'd probably personally prefer the Esplendido. But good Esplendidos are hard to find and would need at least 2-3 years on them. 2
JohnS Posted September 14, 2017 Posted September 14, 2017 I prefer both, but I wish you best of luck sourcing Cohiba Esplendidos at the time of this posting (as they are currently in hiatus). Also, H.Upmann Sir Winstons aren't exactly easy to source right now either, but, I they have come back 'into season' this year and you should be able to track them down.
Guest Nekhyludov Posted September 14, 2017 Posted September 14, 2017 I wouldn't kick an Esplendido out of bed, but I'd happily reach for a Winnie any day. The price differential and relative availability (or unavailability, as it were), only reinforces my preference.
jackupster Posted September 14, 2017 Posted September 14, 2017 Send me a few of each and I will let you know!
Doctorossi Posted September 14, 2017 Posted September 14, 2017 Offer me the choice and I'll take a Sir Winston 19 times out of 20 (gotta mix it up once in a while).
prodigy Posted September 14, 2017 Posted September 14, 2017 I was on the hsa site yesterday. Looks like the 2017 gran reserva will be a sir winston. Wonder what that price tag will look like?Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G891A using Tapatalk

El Hoze Posted September 14, 2017 Posted September 14, 2017 I love Cohiba, and churchills. But have never been a HUGE fan of Esplendidos. Never had an aged one that really made an impression. And, when I need a Cohiba fix, there are a few ways I can get it. Having said that newer ones (newer band anyway) have been working their way into the rotation recently. Love the in your face Cohiba taste. Winnies I have had many that blew my mind, and when you want a Winnie fix there is not much that will do the trick in my mind. Price on the Esplendidos is also significantly higher. I have by far more Winnies than any other cigar. 2
earthson Posted September 15, 2017 Posted September 15, 2017 Winston, to me, is much more complex and the development offers more surprises. Of course, I prefer the Upmann profile to Cohiba. 3
BrightonCorgi Posted September 15, 2017 Posted September 15, 2017 Toss up. Would come down to the actual box, but they are equals in my book.

I expect them to go well past $1000.00 on certain sites, and the secondary markets will push them higher........

Toast & Taste Posted September 18, 2017 Posted September 18, 2017 Esplendidos. It has been too long since I have had any in my collection. Big Al

All things equal, age , quality, and storage, which do you like better?
