Here's a few shots of last couple of pieces for my son's apartment. All from California Claro walnut harvested and rough milled by an old college buddy.  Entertainment center and his new dining table.

cigar - Rafael Gonzalez Perlas and El Rey del Mundo Demi Tasse  (main rotation)  music - David Bowie (from Hunky Dory 1971 to Scary Monsters 1980)  reading/TV/cinema - I'm going through

I'm into long walks on the beach at sunset, dancing in the moonlight, and world peace. My sign is Libra with a bad moon rising.

I'll play. Lately, I've been smoking punch punch, enjoying Jerry Garcia band in the Donna and Keith godchaux era, reading about quantum physics, drinking Leopold brothers cherry whisky, and playing golf.

Cigars:  I'm with G: binging on H Upmann, mostly PC, Mag 50 (highlight of my summer discovering this) and Sir Winston (which used to be the only Upmann I loved).  I still search endlessly through piles of Punch Punch hoping to replicate my love of the dark and stormy '09's, but current Punch Punch are shallow hay piles IMHO :lookaround:,  Punch DC continues to satisfy, PSD 4, Cohiba IV, VI, and a few others, but Upmann has my attention for now

Music: Anything with a violin solo.  In the last 60 days I've acquired multiple copies of the Paganini Caprices by different artists, just to compare: Rachel Barton Pine, Perlman, Midori, Mintz.  Currently can't let go of the Haydn Violin Concertos, check out Midori Seiler's excellent recording (all on period baroque instruments)

Reading: On Tyranny (Snyder), and a pile of math books :lookaround: (did I say that out loud?)

TV:  Only what I can view on the plane.  Kinda pissed that Cathay had GOT last year but not this year.

Beverage:  Pappy Van Winkles (prefer the 12 year Lot B ), Blanton's and Bookers.  There's wine in there too, but let's face it . . . we only drink that for basic hydration . . . :P

Hobby: model rockets with my boys (9 and 11).  They got tired of their video payload rockets spinning and creating a dizzying vid, so now they're teaching me how to build an Arduino driven stabilization module for their rockets.  I know how to solder, but the rest of it is an absolute wonder!  And heavy . . . gonna need quite the engine(s) to get this thing in the air! :lookaround:

Cigar: Short on time lately so mostly anything PC, but heavy on the HUPC right now.

Music: It's surprising to me, but ever since my wife drug me to see La La Land, I've been rolling through a lot of old jazz.

Reading/TV/Cinema: Obssessed with WWII military history right now. Books and movies.

Beverage: Bourbon, bourbon, bourbon. Or coffee.

Hobby: Restoring an '76 Jeep CJ-5. Between cigars and the Jeep, I have zero dollars!

I love Keith, but I have always found Donna Jean could get a little too carried away with the yelling. I also never understood drums/space so could just be me! I never understood much quantum physics either (probably too many Dead shows) although I did read the Quark and the Jaguar by Murray Gell-Mann which is a pretty cool book on simplicity/complexity and complex adaptive systems. And most of all, agreed, Cherry Whisky?!? Tell us more!

not much. Sitting with a drink watching "battle Bots" on the TV.  These battling robots clock in at about 3 hubdred pounds.

It is like a war between remote controlled mayhem.  Real work goes into these "bots" with the idea of "kill or be killed"

in the ring.  Not sure if there is a money award for the winner after the last bot wins.  But I did see a large bolt

not sure what it was made of given to the winner of last years event.  Also watching the US Tennis Open.  Nadel

is a strong fav. to win the mens division and Venus looks like she has a real good chance of winning

the womens side of things at 37 years of age.   Getting ready for work Up at 5:00 am.  Start with  a good cup of coffee

fire up a Rob special pickup two newspapers roll the sun roof back and get my ass into work with a little time

to spare.

https://www.babliquor.com/products/leopold-michigan-cherry-whiskey?gdffi=0c1ee0071bee41f8b7d7bacbb2a8fac7&gdfms=5DBEBDE75D42461E971CF22671F80674&utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&adpos=1o1&scid=scplpshopify_US_8276076552_27565479432&sc_intid=shopify_US_8276076552_27565479432&gclid=Cj0KCQjwub7NBRDJARIsAP7wlT9xtpyE68xDJ_RTdsyJbHzHetoqeMH-vinKYvVisx_4PV-LWAX9aa4aAnWkEALw_wcB

Forgive the long link on this one. It's not just any cherry whisky. I've had ones that taste like a bad cough drop. This one is a lovely balance of tart and sweet, slight emphasis on the sweetness, but it's also undeniably a whisky, tipping the scales at 40 percent abv. There is a Smokey undertone to it which makes it enjoyable either neat or on the rocks. However, I used it in a bpulivardier recipe and it just took off and stole the show. I think I'm in love. It's made in Colorado in a small distillery, I believe.

I would also point out that I would never have tried this on my own, but a bottle was gifted to me by a young attorney in my office whom I am mentoring after a difficult week, and I would highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys whisky on it's own, or to the amateur mixologist who enjoys their cocktails in the more spiritus end of the spectrum, but is looking to experiment. Excellent end of summer drink, that will have let's into the fall. If I may add, also a lovely compliment yo the fruity notes of the punch punch box I've been working my way through.

Cherry whisky discussed above. Regarding Donna and her catarwalling, I would agree, with the dead she could be downright tonedeaf at times. However, she came into her own in the smaller setting of the jgb, especially in songs like strange man, and Gomorrah. The quark and the jaguar is actually in my reading list. Currently reading roger Penrose cycles of time. Crazy stuff, but only understand half of it on a good day, before the whisky.

There are plenty of Playing in the Bands that are unlistenable because of Donna, but overall I like what she brought to the music most of the time.  She and Bobby are beautiful together on Looks Like Rain.  Just perfect on top of Jerry's meandering yet poignant guitar.  I could listen to that all day.
