Popular Post madandana Posted January 22, 2017 Popular Post Posted January 22, 2017 We decide to make a Havana run while we still could depending on what Trump does with our freedom to travel. We brought our soon to be 18 year old daughter Hanna so we could show her around. (Havana Mike move over, we now have Havana Hanna)Flew Delta from MSP through Atlanta. Flight went smooth. We had to fill out our affidavit as to our reason for travel at the gate in Atlanta where they provided our previously paid for Tourist cards. You don't have to prepay them but I did just so it was done. Arrived in Havana Terminal 3 and breezed threw. No checked luggage so it was painless. Lucky we didn't need money exchange, the line was a mile long. I happen to have 30 CUC left from last trip. Just enough for cab ride to the Comodoro where there is a money exchange. Had to wait for check in so we grabbed a beer and went to the cigar shop. Was disappointed Alex was on Holiday so we missed him this trip but he left me some previously arranged sticks. I was able to hang out and get to know the manager Andres and Fara, one of the gals that works there. Our expectations of the Comodoro were very low do to trip advisors reviews and warnings from others but we had no choice as it was the only place that would meet our needs on short notice. Things were booked up. Do to our low expectations, we were pleasantly surprise and loved the place. Yes. It's run down and a little dirty but staff was great and we loved our pool side room, close to the bar. First night off to Old Havana, had diner at La Vitrolia next to the micro brewery in Plaza Viaja. Food sucked this time but visits on previous trips it was good. Off to the National for drinks on the patio then finished the night with live music in the lobby bar of the Comodoro. Up an at them Tues am. Breakfast was included with the room ... It was ok. About the same as at the National. Popped in next store at the Melia Havana to meet Yolanda for the first time, she was lovely and gracious. She enjoyed her trip to China. Not much for customs but I did pick up a bundle of Corona extras. Interesting note , This is the only time I saw any SLR Exclusive Cuba that was release at Partagas open night in November. They had a half box of singles. Off to see Juanita at Melia Cohiba. Friendly and cheerful as always. Got a hug a kiss and 2 bundles of Churchills. That's all she had. Hanna got to order her first legal drinks and had Daquariess and Sangrea. She's not a party girl so this was one her first experiences drinking alcohol and she was very responsible only having a couple each day. Good thing as she's off to collage next year and we didn't think that would be the place to have her first drinks with out Mom and Dad there. That night we were lucky enough to have a visit with Punch Joe. He was kind enough to swing by for a visit around 6 pm even though he was very busy with a group from out of town. He gifted me an incredible stick and we hung out in the smoke shop for a hour or so.He had to take off but not before making us reservations at a new Italian restaurant that a friend of his just opened. Nero Di Seppia was awesome. Thanks Jose. Wednesday am we went to visit the fort and meet Cuano. He was very friendly but the place was hectic with a tour group , he had only a few customs and the price was high so I just picked up a few Coronas . The fort was amazing, it was the first time we had taken the time to visit it. Swung by the Conde Villa Nuova to see what Reynoldo had to offer. He was a little put out by all the tour groups going through and when I asked for some Sublimes he said he had no customs. After hanging out and visiting a while he realized I wasn't fresh off the cruise ship he gifted me a 64 RG jaw breaker. I loved it and pick up 10 more. Took Hanna to Coppelia for ice cream and then to relax at Hotel National and snack on a toasted Cuban Sandwich. Had dinner at Ajibe for the first time and were glad we did. Service was great, food was great. Got up Thursday and was going to head to Havana Club because there was still room in my suitcase for cigars. While trying to get a cab I said screw it and just went back and got some Alex Churchills and Robustos. Had to leave for the airport at 11 am so I just hung out with the girls and smoked one last stick and finished my bottle of Legenderio. We were on a profession research trip so it worked out great as we were researching the different Types of heating and cool (our biz) involved in all of the places we visited. 19
