miurajus
What was the most unique nuance/flavor you have detected in a cigar? Are there any exercises you partake in to develop your sense of taste? Does anyone else scribble notes when they eat something/smell something, thinking that it might be a flavor they have tasted in a cigar before? TLDR: Ate a fancy sampling last night for the GF's birthday. Yuzu was a flavor I found interesting.

El Presidente
Tastes for me are reference points from past experience (food, drink, other). It is always an interesting exercise to occasionally write notes when you are smoking a cigar. Even for people who believe that they struggle in picking out flavours, an hour with a notepad and a cigar can be a revelation when you look at your note book upon completion of the cigar. More than likely you will find it is a pot pourri of tastes, questions, doodles . If it helps, use the tasting wheel below to help with your thoughts. For me, there are certain flavour nuances that I adore but rarely find. marshamallow licorice There are certainly some I come across and really dislike. ayepatz
To be serious for a mo, I think the rarest thing I've tasted is apple. I've had flashes of green apple in a couple of cigars and loved it.
archosaur
Pink bubble gum. Just got a few puffs of this nuance from a Trinidad Robusto T, way back when.
garbandz
I remember a cigar called El Cobre that had a cherry flavor dropping in and out. I know El Pres finds cherry in his RyJ churchills, and I have a couple waiting for a trial.............

Was remarkably good through the retrohale. If i knew i could get that exact same cigar again id pay absurdly.

Habana Mike
Uni on the cold draw. A few times. It's like a tidal pool - salt, seaweed, slightly fishy somewhat. Not so much as driftwood which I also understand..... I've also had what I've described as marshmallow a few times as well - generally 20+ year old smokes. Last I recall was a '93 CCE last spring. Ahhh, he was meaning spliff... (never heard of spleef so far). Thanks Akela! Was somehow expecting such, but thought that couldn't be what he meant. Never got that from a BCJ! Well, perhaps if you are so blunt to abuse that stick..., but who'd really do that with a nice '03 BCJ?!!
