Duane Posted July 11, 2012 Posted July 11, 2012 Evening all, Alot of mixed feelings out there about which is better, see alot of reviews think the 56 is average and not worth the price how will they go with age? think they will be better than the 52? and cant forget the 1966 as alot of cohiba i see in reviews have very similar flavour profile. Being still a noob to CC's I am looking at getting a box to sit aside and age, I really love the secretos are they a similar profile to the above mentioned?.
Puros Y Vino Posted July 11, 2012 Posted July 11, 2012 If you're going to set aside a box of Behikes, I'd say go with the 56's. While the 52 has all the love, being a CA #1 and all. I think there are better cigars out there. I've had about 5 BHK56's. My first was about 14 months ago, then I checked in every 4 months since. The 56 is definitely a cigar that is benefiting from "age"
Ghabanos Posted July 11, 2012 Posted July 11, 2012 sig 6. EDIT: sorry didn't see the original questions clearly I like the 52, but haven't tried any with age...
IcedCanuck Posted July 11, 2012 Posted July 11, 2012 I like the BHK 54 over the 52 but have not had a 56 yet. Can't go wrong with a Siglo VI either!
IcedCanuck Posted July 11, 2012 Posted July 11, 2012 I got to say BHK 54 out of the lineup. You don't like the 54's?
zappaFREAK Posted July 11, 2012 Posted July 11, 2012 The 66s are stunning! I am a big sig 6 fan and have had a box or 2 of the 52s which I found always wanting them to last a bit longer. I do have some 54s sitting although I have not cracked them yet. Hard to pick a bad one out of that bunch!
Habano Posted July 11, 2012 Posted July 11, 2012 I've yet to smoke the 1966, but between the 52 and 56, the 52 is by far the best. The 56 needs more time and I've heard the same for the 1966 as well.
Ophidion Posted July 11, 2012 Posted July 11, 2012 The lancero. This guy knows whats up. I also have to say I enjoy the 54 the most out of the three.. probably has something to do with me not smoking either the 52 or 56
CaptainQuintero Posted July 11, 2012 Posted July 11, 2012 I've been very let down by all except the 52. Personally I'd grab a box of Cohiba Robustos, tried and tested.
riazp Posted July 11, 2012 Posted July 11, 2012 Just my opinion here, its too much coin and bling. for the money i'd say get a box of siglo VI and age them. they will be good ROTT, and epic in a few years. I was lucky enough to smoke a 08 sig vi gifted to me by a very generous botl and it was just a fantastic creamy smoke. Lancero would be a great choice as well. Then again, I dont smoke many cohibas due to their steep price tag.
Habano Posted July 11, 2012 Posted July 11, 2012 I've been very let down by all except the 52. Personally I'd grab a box of Cohiba Robustos, tried and tested. Regular production sticks have been very good lately. Perhaps you should give the 54 and 56 more time? I thought the 54 was good, but nowhere near the 52. As I said earlier, the 56 needs a few more years.
Dbone Posted July 11, 2012 Posted July 11, 2012 To tell you the truth I haven't had either of the three in title. Just can't stomach the premium. There's a few ways to spend $300+ on cigars, and buying at least one if not two boxes of 25's (which I know I will enjoy) is the angle I view the buying decision from. I'd smoke them if they fell into my hands for sure. That being said, I do splurge from time to time. If you wanted to buy Cohiba and asked me which I'd suggest... I'd say I stock the Lancero, Coronas Esepciales, Siglo III, and Siglo IV. But yeah, the 1966 has all hype at the moment. Good luck in your decision, you really can't go wrong with anything mentioned, it's all good stuff
cigcars Posted July 11, 2012 Posted July 11, 2012 In comparance of the BHK 52, 54, 56 and LE 1966 I'd say the Cohiba 1966 LE really, REALLY struck me as fantabulous As of yet I have never gotten any enjoyment out of the Magicos, Secretos, or other Maduro Cohibas...just no flavor at all. And I do love the flavor profile of the Behikes too.
mk05 Posted July 11, 2012 Posted July 11, 2012 I was taught that Cohiba, historically as a marca, was meant to be aged for at least a decade. On that note, I have no idea how these post '01 sticks will taste like in ten years, save for original releases, because I find it irresponsible to make statements from 02-3 batches - which to a certain group of individuals - were a) sub par across the board; bb) first run with new seed/blend change, so who know how they will age compared to pre-98. That said, there's a lot of love for the '03 Sig VI, and subsequently some for the '04. I have tried recent Espi's only to chuck them after no more than ten puffs. I personally do not like the post '98 blends of Cohiba, including the 03 Sig VI. But who knows, I could like them in 5 years...probably why people just buy everything right? You never know what your palate will fancy in the future. As for my asterisk on ORs, my reasoning is: These are not a copy of an existing blend, but a newly created one. There is no preceding one that you are comparing to. It was blended with the new leaf. Therefore, however it ages from this point on, becomes the benchmark. So to answer your question, I would buy all of the ones you were asking about. Ideally: 52 (will BENEFIT from time IMO) 54 (excellent now, will only get better) 1966 (I've mentioned plenty times this is close to Genios, may be a different wrapper, but it's not terrible. Who knows if this will top out and flatten like the Maduro5, but this is an OR, so worth buying - if you're into the collecting aspect) Kill the 56 (NEEDs more time and honestly just gives me lockjaw. There are jokes here) EDIT: some reason b ) turns into a smiley so I changed to bb)
canadianbeaver Posted July 11, 2012 Posted July 11, 2012 I love the BHK 52 but the last one I smoked let me down for a new reason. The taste is wonderful, the smoke divine etc etc. But I tell you, the last 1/4 got so hot on my fingers that I had to put it down and basically waste it. I know guys use a cigar roach clip or similar, but I think those look silly. L And I agree that for 300-450 there is better smoke to be found elsewhere.
nikesupremedunk Posted July 11, 2012 Posted July 11, 2012 for a box of 10 BHK's you can get a 25 box of the sig VI, which is what I'd rather do. but if the price is no concern then buy one of each! sig6, 52,54,56, and 1966's! can't go wrong with any of them...
ramon_cojones Posted July 11, 2012 Posted July 11, 2012 This guy knows whats up. I also have to say I enjoy the 54 the most out of the three.. probably has something to do with me not smoking either the 52 or 56 cce is my secret smoke too, i'd rec you get yourself a box of these as well
mk05 Posted July 11, 2012 Posted July 11, 2012 mk do you know the word conjecture? Dude's post was regarding those specific sticks, and without any background existing on them, I conjectured using known set of well regarded principles. Claiming anything regarding those sticks' future set of expectations as fact would be nothing short of...conjecture. Wouldn't you agree?
Tarks Posted July 11, 2012 Posted July 11, 2012 IMO, they are all great but if I had to pick one it would be the 54. I find the 56's are just too big, the 52's are a bit too short and the 54's are a perfect size for a "bigger" cigar. But really, you can't go wrong with any of the Behike's.
khomeinist Posted July 11, 2012 Posted July 11, 2012 I prefer QDO to BHK For Cohiba.... CCE Sig III Sig IV (great cigar with a reasonable gauge) Lancero I have had mixed results with Sig VI, Coro, and Espy but they are popular with many.
JohnLeupp Posted July 11, 2012 Posted July 11, 2012 The Siglo IV is the best of the lineup. I think it has more flavor and complexity than the VI. It is a joy to smoke.

Get a box of Cohiba Corona Especiales to smoke when you don't want or have time for a 'bigger cigar'.
