Arrived just now from the island

My summer planned trip to Cuba was scuppered so I did the next best thing... a whisky buying trip/tour of Scotland! Had a great week with a mix of rain and glorious sunshine. Some great pick ups too -

Glentauchers in a sherry cask is very tasty. I wonder how such a young expression will be.

I actually tried a sample of this one before deciding on a bottle purchase and I was really impressed. Neat - good clean and sweet sherry on this one with little wood influence but really fruity.

Will be a while before I get to open the Benriach - I have quite a backlog of bottles to open. :D

Anyway, can't go wrong with peat and sweet PX, I am sure.

Happy Ardbeg day! Might I ask was those cost in your area? Heading to the Ardbeg Embassy tonight, but am scared by the possible price of bottles....lol

$99+Tax at my local KL Wines. I think it was the same price at Binnys as well.

I paid $105, but three weeks ago. My local whisky retailer has it for $86.

From the weekend...20130216_185307.jpg

I realise this is from 2013 but I miss finding this (Weller 12) on the shelves when I visit Cali 2x a month. Damn!

This one is really good - surprisingly balanced for an Ardbeg - highly drinkable, "smoky vanilla ice cream".

Little on the mild side for an Ardbeg, subtle yet I felt it was missing something, a little more...well just "Ardbeggy" I reckon.

I bought two at Ardbeg day as well...had to go home for a Galilleo to recover my composure

At least it's better than last years Auriverdes !

I think ?
