Ken and Smithy will be looking after the forum next week :o (Colt/Trev/Wilkey...please HELP!) when I take the kids away camping (and hopefully bring them all back). The wife could use a rest.

It is a week of bass fishing, shrimp catching, minor burns and hook removal. Helicopter evac policy has been updated.

I have kicked the tyre of the trailer (all good), fishing gear prepped, fishing canoe bung found (don't want to repeat that error :peace: ) outboard motor kicked over (....how much maintenance do they really need ) and first aid suitcase prepared by wife stowed away.

Food ....well...we will eat what we catch. OK I will pick up steak/sausages and Sui Min noodles on the way.

Rain forecast for the week. Thank you God....as I said to you last night...Ken started the Catholic Church post!!!!

Tossing up taking Cohiba but I struggle looking after the kids for the week. Should the wife need a cigar at home...he can get it.

So....what cigars to take

9 days. 2-3 a day.

Now if you were going Camping to the great unknown....what selection would you take?

Camping and cigars are the best!

How about a few Siglo VI, Mag 48, Dip 2's and a couple Unicos. :peace:

Easy payback, Lisa. Swap all his camping cigars with plugged ones!

*I'd take along some that I wouldn't miss if "something happened" to them. You're out in the woods. Ants, bugs, Australian wildlife...it would be something if you found a safe time to enjoy. But then I guess most women feel like that. Yeah, I know for the folks who read my profile, I spent 6 years in the Army. But WE WEREN'T out having any fun!:peace:

You'll need a good double-handful of Lanceros, maybe a couple of Sir Winnies, Don Alejandros, even a M/C "A"... anything long! It's a helluva thing to stick your head into the fire pit trying to light a Robusto!

The ONLY way to check, lol. Plenty of JLPs in case they fall to water!

Enjoy your trip Rob.

My next trip out to the woods will be Thanksgiving weekend. This year will mark our 20th year in a row.

Good friends , good booze , fattening food, and great cigars, oh and the occasional hallucinogen.

I usually fill my 20 ct. travel humi with 2-3 a day X 3 days. CC for me and about 10 domestics for the boys, sadly most don't appreciate a real cigar.

I have friends with the philosophy that one should take his cheapest wine, scotch and cigars on a camping trip. However, my philosopy is the precise opposite. Since the great outdoors is one of my favorite places to be, I generally take some of my best single-malt, best wine, and best cigars. This is ESPECIALLY true if I take the kids. Once I have the smedleys down for the evening I deserve a respite under the stars with some of life's greatest pleasures. I mean...who wants to spend an evening anywhere with whiskey that tastes like turpentine, plunk wine and cheroots?

Life is too short for cheap wine, cheap women and cheap cigars. I don't think that's original to me, but I'll claim it.

With all the dangers, rain, mud and all plus, the kids to watch over, I 'm sure you'll do better with these.

When you're back, please give us a review on one or the other

BTW, Have a great time ;)

Gran Reservas!!! All the proletariat stuff!

And Trinidads, don't forget the Trinidads.

Oh and before you leave, let Kenny know that it is okay if I cuss on the forum. I get slapped at home for it, and like antismoking laws cut into your smoking, this is the only place I am free to say what I want. Tell Ken to leave his Nazi Nurse ruler at home.

Enjoy the glow worms! -Piggy

Perhaps email Lisa or Smithy and find out what's great at the moment. More to the point, will you be

prepared in the event of Estonian backpackers?

As for leaving Batman and Robin in charge.........

Somebody has to say it...

 ROBUSTO "SPLITS"

Five each of Cohiba Robusto, Partagas D4, Ramon Allones Specially Selected, Hoyo Du Monterrey Epicure Number 2 and Bolivar Royal Corona. The greats all in one box. All cigars hand selected and box codes of all cigars supplied with shipping. No better way to try the greats in one box!

Ahhh camping in the rain. Is there nothing better? Reminds me of one of my favorite Calvin and Hobbes moments - this after a solid week of camping in the rain -

post-5835-1284485345.jpg

heh heh

Anyway - sounds like it will be lots of fun! For cigars, if it were me - I find the most outdoorsy cigars are Diplomaticos and Bolivars, their flavours really come alive when surrounded by nature. Ramon Allones and Partagas too, but it is more their strength of flavour that make them good smokes outdoors, not the overall flavour profiles of the Dips and Bolis. So I would probably take a selection of Dip 1/2/3's (2s for sure, 1/3s if you've got a few salted away), Bolivar CG/RCs, along with a couple of Party SD4s, 898s and RASSs. Nothing too smalll like a PC (you're outdoors camping, away from the bustle of the city and the go-go-go.....you have time to enjoy a decent-sized smoke), or too large like a Double Corona - although a couple of Lusis or RAGs can't hurt.

Enjoy your camping, Prez! I hope you get at least a couple days of sun!

I love camping smokes.

what ever is smoking best in a PC for morning coffee. (for ME , 98 Boli PC)

Usually a Corona Gorda after lunch, I like the JL#1's or Cohiba Sig IV

then some cheapo's for when your in the canoe or hiking and don't have time to pay attention to the stick.

then the cap of the night is a Churchil or DC around the fire, after dinner. Here I reach for a Lusi, or a BCG

paradise!

Cigars....looks like everyone got the good ones covered.

The only suggestion I can make is to bring at least 2-3 lighter. If one lighter fails obviously you're not up a creek because you have back up.

In a pinch, you could always rub two petite coronas together.
