Been trying a couple cigars that I intend to put in the US box pass. ERdM LC (07) and the LGC D5. Both smoking well, especially the Lunch Club. What a loss that discont. was.. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G891A using Tapatalk14 points

I’ve been smoking in Barcelona over the last few days. Still lots of the LGC Regionals around, even at some of the smaller Estancos. Almost had one of these beauties tonight, unfortunately my mate had to cancel and I just didn’t see myself finishing one of these 1.5kg steaks for 150€ on my own! Next time! Saw these at a market on the weekend, got two of these molds at home and might attempt to fix one up myself. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk8 points

Hm upman from the 80's or 90's I believe. I can't remember... Bought in Amsterdam last year. Seems to be a Churchill but just over 6.5 inches long. I'm not sure what it is? RG is definitely bigger than 42. Sir Winnie?7 points

. My first JL1 SRO Jul 17 - HQ from this box, has been resting for about 3 months, I've been experimenting with different drink pairings other than my usual Whisky or Rum and found Tea's to be quite a good pairing. I've normally had Earl grey teas but have recently tried Taiwanese Bubble Milk tea and the combination of sugar and tea often works quite well with a lot of the cigars that I enjoy. Getting back to the JL1, cold draw is light, has notes of cedar and light straw notes and great draw, I keep my cigars at 65% RH 1st Third, - Smooth, creamy notes, with a bit of pepper spice and some slight sour notes - Medium to full, the sugar in the BBT helped mellow out the sour notes and make it a little sweeter 2nd Third - Has improved a lot and has more toasted almond nutty notes and is still very smooth with great ash and great burn. The BBT is now highlighting the nutty notes and make it very enjoyable - Medium to Full - The pepper & sour notes have gone Final Third - Has kicked up a notch and is now full bodied, the pepper is back and the nutty notes have died down, it has almost taken on a different character but its still enjoyable and smooth enough that I smoked it down to the nub. Overall Rating - 87/100 Was an excellent cigar for such a young smoke and plenty of development and the BBT helped round out the pepper spice and young sour notes at the beginning. Glad I have a cab and think these have great aging potential and will be worth trying again in 3-5 years.5 points

Another work time small format cigar and coffee session review. Today pairing the half corona with a nespresso pod of Paris Black. Cold draw gives cocoa and light cedar. · 1/3 - Chocolate, spice and faint waft of cedar as well. · 2/3 - A little cream, spice, cocoa and caramel · 3/3 – Some nut, spice, cocoa and caramel. Overall impression is that this is such delicious cigar. Medium body and flavour packed!! Even though the burn went astray very enjoyable. The coffee compliment very well and as taken in black espresso format IMO brings out some of the sweeter profiles in the cigar. I would happily light another and go again....4 points

Diplomáticos Excelencia 2015 - Edición Regional Cuba SGA Dic 2015 I like to thank my dear friend, @khamy for bringing these back from Cuba. It was a few years ago, and after reading initial reviews, I knew, for my taste, it was best to give this cigar some rest. How was it after almost 3 years? Surprisingly, the strength and intensity of flavours was a little above medium and more intense than I expected. However, it was definitely indicative of the Diplomaticos marca. In regards to construction, which was an issue upon release, this was impeccable in regards to burn. As for flavour, the cigar started out like some previous Diplomaticos Bushidos I've had, but then the intensity took over. Sourdough, sour cream, paprika pepper, toast and roasted nuts were the main flavours I cottoned onto, but I wonder if I could give this cigar another year or two so that the strength diminishes a little and the perhaps the sour cream aspect comes more to the fore. No matter, it was still a very good smoking experience and I'm grateful for having sampled this cigar.4 points

Yeah, yeah, another RE. I find this one to be fairly interesting though. I always find that Switzerland does a pretty good job with the quality of their REs as well. Thoughts? https://halfwheel.com/la-gloria-cubana-orgullosos-arrives-in-switzerland-next-week/2844263 points

Hello All! My first review on FOH and a bit of a celebratory time in my life so I thought I'd review something special, to me at least. My one and only Lancero from last year's FOH Christmas sampler from our hosts paired with a 2017 bottle of Pappy Van Winkle 12 Year Lot B bourbon whisky. I didn't record the box code of this stick, so if someone wants to jump in who purchased the sampler last year feel free. As mentioned, I'm celebrating two milestones in my life - 1) I received a new job offer and will be starting with a new company this coming Monday and 2) this review marks my 100th post on FOH. I'm not sure which I'm more happy and proud of ? but let's get started... I started off dry boxing the Lancero for ~8 hours or so. Wrapper is golden brown in color and has an outside smell of cedar. Pre-light draw = more cedar, light leather and VERY tightly packed. I initially chose to punch cut but changed to a straight cut as the Perfect Draw was needed on this one. Still tight, but manageable! Outside smoking temp = 55 degrees F 1st third - Light/medium body with Creamy leather and grass, light smoke (probably due to the tight construction). Ash is dark gray and firm. Drops at 1” in. Burn line isn’t razor sharp but close. The tightness, which is mainly in the 2nd third of this long panetela is starting to get to me. Rolling/massaging out the tight areas does seem to be helping. Pappy Van Winkle 12 Year Lot B - Nose: caramel, cherries, cinnamon. Taste: strong caramel, vanilla and oak. Nice bourbon bite on the front end while the back end is extremely smooth as expected from a Van Winkle and notes of dark fruit/cherries and citrus coming off the nose. This is my second favorite Pappy behind the 15 Year. 2nd third - The draw is starting to open a bit. While the cream starts to fade, it makes way to more wood and/or hay notes off the retrohale. Still holding out hope for the honey and citrus notes of a classic Cohiba, which I thought would pair nicely with the VW12. The increase in smoke brings the grassy notes front and center toward the end of the 2nd third. My two fingers worth of bourbon is gone and with no sign of any sweet citrus to the Lancero I move to ice water to clean the palate. Final third - Holy cow! There are the citrus notes I was looking for! Lemon zest and orange peel come screaming at me. The grass remains through the nose but citrus fruit is prominent on the tongue and lips, almost over powering. I‘m quick to ditch my water and return to a splash of bourbon to finish this thing off right! The bourbons sweetness with the tart finish of the final third of the Lancero make a perfect match. Conclusion: The Lancero finished medium to full body, while starting out light to medium, probably due to the tight construction. If I had it all over to do again I'd probably have left it in the dry box for another 24-48 hrs but with some luck on Tuesday's 24:24 I have another box coming which will receive a minimum 3-5 year nap. All in all I have no regrets breaking this fine cigar out. For it's relative youth, it was a complex and very pleasant smoke. Thank you to our hosts for giving us a great place to discuss and review such fine cigars that we're so passionate about and I hope you enjoyed my review. . Smoke time: 2 hrs 15 mins3 points

Sorry to pick up the beginning of this thread again but I thought I’ll add my little bit of personal knowledge to this. As stated in this article, (https://tobaccobusiness.com/havana-house-celebrates-30th-anniversary-with-exclusive-cuban-cigars/) Havana House is owned or at some time was owned by the late Sir David Tang of Pacific Cigar. Sir David used to be a member of the board of Tommy Hilfiger at some point. The brand Tommy Hilfiger was mainly financed by Silas Chou of Hong Kong and Lawrence Stroll (father of F1 driver Lance Stroll). Stroll and Chou also financed Michael Kors. I’m working in yachting since twelve years and actually had Lawrence Stroll on board a lot as he was a very good friend of my employer a few years back. Lawrence is an avid cigar smoker, 3-4 a day, and we had many chats about cigars. Every time he came on board he would gift me a few sticks and discuss the latest releases with me. I know he comes across quite ‘nouveau riche’ and boisterous in TV but he’s actually quite a nice guy! One day while we chatted he told me that he is a share holder in Havana House, the Canadian Havanas importer. Reading up on it, I never found any information about it but as Sir David was the owner of Havana House and a board member for Tommy Hilfiger I can imagine he wasn’t lying to me. Seems like the two had multiple business dealings with each other. One day during the Monaco boat show, around 2011, Lawrence was on board again and had a meeting with a yacht broker. Suddenly Lawrence calls me over and asks me to counter sign a contract. Sorry what? “Yes, I need a witness to counter sign this contract, I’m just buying a yacht”. So I got to sign the 36 Million $ contract for his first 60m yacht! Love my job? A few years later he topped this and bought a brand new 95m yacht, like his first yacht called Faith. https://www.superyachttimes.com/yachts/faith Beautiful boat but unfortunately I had moved on by that time to another vessel and couldn’t apply for a job with him. Would have started in a heart beat! What a dream, an owner that loves cigars and shares them every now and then with his crew! He’s also an avid Ferrari collector and owner of Mount Tremblant Race track in Canada. He used to bring his latest Ferraris, often heavily customized one offs down to Monaco and would have us park the cars for him, amazing! Sorry to spam the thread, just thought some guys might like to hear some more insight on Pacific Cigar and the people behind it. Leif3 points

I did a side-by-side comparison last week after breaking the bank on a single cigar at my local B&M. They started out quite different - the Excelencia was more straightforward power like a PSD4, and the Nortenos was more well-rounded, sweet with a spicy edge, like a Dip 2 but with more sweetness. They got a little closer in the 2nd half, but still believe they are two different blends. I remember the Excelencia young, and it was never as sweet and well rounded as the Nortenos. Both good but I think the Nortenos is the winner between the two. Now I just need to find a box...without paying the 1700% canadian duties and taxes LOL!3 points
