  1. Hi Chris, sorry to hear that Ottawa is your next destination. I seem to remember that you told me it’s not really what you want when we met last time. When we moved from Japan to Spain last year I left my Cigars in their boxes tightly packed into my usual locking 20L plastic containers with a small 62% Boveda. The plastic containers then went into the usual moving boxes with our other bits and pieces. Everything got put into a container and then onto a ship all the way to Europe. The temperatures inside that container might have fluctuated massively, from 10C in Japan to easily 40C while sailing along the Arabian peninsula and through the Suez! Then it all dropped down again to 15C here in Spain in spring. In total it took almost 10 weeks due to all kinds of Covid delays from us packing the boxes to receiving them here in Spain. I’ve had no issues whatsoever with the cigars since arrival. Nothing dried out, no mold, no sign of condensation or cracked wrappers. They all smoke fine! Fingers crossed for you and the family, hope the move and settling in won’t be too stressful! Cheers, Leif
  2. The new prices have hit us here in Spain early this month! Standard range went up a few Euro while premium cigars doubled or tripled in price. I feel sorry for all the little Estancos, for most of them it won’t be worth it anymore to stock Cuban cigars and barely ever sell any. Coupled with low availability most will probably swing to non Cubans for the future.
  3. Give me a shout when you get to Barcelona, I live only 30mins. away in the valleys behind Barcelona! Would love to catch up for a smoke one day! I can confirm the above info, been to Fuster recently and got a box of the new Diplomaticos. Also got one at Duaso. But so far I like the previous RE from Flor de Cano better, haven’t seen them around for a while though. In the basement of the El Corte Ingles department store at Placa Catalunya is a cigar store too, I’ve been lucky buying singles there a few times late last year, seems to get missed by most tourists! On Mallorca I like Estanco de Born directly on the main drag Passeig de Born in Palma. Tiny shop but usually a good selection. Same goes for Estanco Palma 4 - Cava Avenidas on Av. de Gabriel Alomar, been lucky there a few times last year. On Ibiza I only know one good place but haven’t been for two years: Cava de Puros Tur. It’s directly at the port. Fingers crossed we can catch up for a smoke! Cheers, Leif
  4. Summer is here, around 30C in the Barcelona area for the last ten days and yesterday we almost hit toasty 36C. I like it that way, long nights out on the balcony with a few smokes. And sometimes some daytime cigars too!
  5. I found the first ones with the new band back in June at the LCDH in Napoli/Italy. But since then I’ve only ever seen the old band again, even with newer box codes. The usual Habanos chaos, why is it so hard to introduce the new band once you’re done boxing up all the cigars with the old bands and then from a certain date forward everything else gets the new band🤷🏼‍♂️
  6. Been traveling regularly since February, mostly for work but also a little holiday here and there. All within Europe though. Here it’s easy, you’re vaccinated and pretty much good to go anywhere. Have to agree on the airlines, service even with the major carriers is non existent! Airports not too busy but still sometimes chaotic long lines, especially during the summer and now autumn holidays again. In many restaurants and hotels it seems like only the idiots managed to keep their jobs! Feels like I’m more often frustrated with service staff then before. I guess the smart ones moved jobs and made it elsewhere while many less gifted stuck with their jobs. But I’m sure this will sort itself out again once travel gets back to normal next year. Fingers crossed Aus will open up again soon, my wife and I can’t wait to get back! Safe travels, Leif
  7. Hey Cliff, Rovinj and the countryside around it is one of my favorite areas of Croatia! There is a small shop called Havana Cigar Shop Rovinj. It’s inside the waterfront promenade of Grand Park Hotel, about 10mins. walk from the actual old town. I think this is the shop that Rob mentioned. During my last visit two years ago they had a pretty good selection. Just be aware that Cigars are not cheap in Croatia! If you’re into food and your trip isn’t fully planned yet, maybe consider a visit to the inland village of Livade. In September Zigante Truffles (I think Croatia’s biggest producer) offers early morning truffle hunt introductions for visitors! And they usually set up a truffle event for a few weeks each autumn. It says they offer the truffle hunt on Saturdays only but I know they do it on other days as well as long as it’s booked a little ahead and the group is big enough. Have fun! Cheers, Leif
  8. Enjoy your trip around France and Italy! In Cannes you might want to try La Civette Carlton, the best place in Antibes would be Tabac Boutique Contraste. On Capri I can recommend Della Monica directly at Piazza Umberto. Small but good storage and great quality smoking accessories! Hope the latest COVID restrictions won’t affect the wedding to much!
  9. Yes you’re correct, unfortunately the Casa has closed down end of 2019. They first moved out of old town down to Lapad beach due to the ridiculous rent in town. But then the laws in Croatia changed and they where not allowed to store the cigars visible from the outside so the glass doors of the walk in had to be covered up and all branding inside the shop and the windows had to be removed. Only the La Casa sign outside was still allowed. I think the location in combination with the “advertising” ban killed it. There’s a small spirit and tobacco shop not too far away in the Land area called Fumar. I’ve bought cigars there during my visit last year. Small selection, not cheap! The Casa was the last shop in Croatia where I saw the RA Adriaticos in 2019. Not sure if their main shop in Zagreb still exists, never been there. But I’ve been in touch with them by email in the past about ordering cigars directly and have them send to a Croatian address and they’ve been very helpful! There used to be a shop in old town Split too (in case you’re going), not far from the main waterfront, saw it last summer but didn’t go inside. Wouldn’t recommend to buy at hotels, even more expensive and often questionable storage. Bring your own stock! Enjoy Croatia!
  10. Very jealous to see all the awesome looking 24:24 boxes on here! Enjoy them gentlemen! Now that I’ve moved to Europe I have zero chance to ever score anything as it’s all sold out by the time I get up. I’m sure my wife is very please with that😂 On the other side I get to buy cigars at great prices in Spain now. That’s a nice plus! Currently on a short work trip to Greece, I found a nice little shop in Corfu old town today. Young knowledgeable owner, small but good selection of well stored cigars. Fair prices. As it’s roasting hot here I’ve decided to go for some small format cigars, don’t think I’ll smoke any of my DC’s this week🥵 Like his custom bags!
  11. Corfu old town with Frappe and an Upmann Epicure. Couldn’t smoke anything bigger, heatwave rolling in today, temperatures expected to rise up to 37C in the next days.
  12. This beast arrived today. And all I’ve got are these pictures, won’t be home for a few more month. Therefore the cigars will stay sealed, sorry, unfortunately no pictures of the sticks...
  13. This beauty just arrived back home in Germany! But due to Covid it’ll be a few month before I can head back to pick it up. Cigars are boxed and vacuum sealed so they’ll be fine. Price is pretty nuts but I love the jar! They have a customer who wants an empty jar so one of the next ones they receive will be broken up for singles! Will get a few, can’t wait to try them later this year and keep my pristine jar.
  14. Crappy set up, just watched the games on my phone. But very pleased with the results and the smokes! Sunshine during Tokyo winter is always nice!
  15. Been isolating in the Maldives for the last seven days before heading back on board tomorrow. Even though I couldn’t spend Christmas with the wife and kids I feel very fortunate to still work in these tough times. Merry Christmas everyone! Unfortunately the weather turned to rain and wind for the next few days... Best part was the meal in the underwater restaurant directly on the edge of the reef. My Christmas treat. Tomorrow it’s back to work on the floating beauty in the background. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
