May ‘04 RASS DB - Smoked my first RASS in the early 2000’s. Underwhelming to say the least. Since then I’ve smoked many more both cab and dress box versions with the same results. I guess it’s time I realize they just aren’t for me. They are powerhouses if that’s what you’re in to. Age doesn’t seem to do a damn thing for them either.

What causes this? Is the stick too dry/too wet? Too hot outside? It was about 93ºF and 15% humidity outside...

Too dry outside in comparison to your cigar. Tough to compensate for, as burning tobacco creates moisture, this is what is causing the swelling. Try dry boxing, or reducing your storage humidity, or the tap water trick. I would also look at potientally a longer acclimation period, 6 months or more, to ensure the humidity within the cigar is evenly distributed.
