Unless it's severely plugged, I've had about a 80% success rate with the PerfecDraw, especially attacking it from different locations on the head and if it's really bad, I'll very carefully go after the foot end as well.

All other scenarios presented are "bin it to win it."

Fairly straight down the middle for me.

The one I pitched the other day was the sort that felt like it was as wet as when it was still on the plant and that I was smoking it in a tropical jungle. Could not get the thing to burn properly, the draw was there but it was near fireproof, 4+ puffs to get it to burn each draw, got bored and pulled out a RG Perlas.

I'm fairly tolerant and will get creative if need be. Too many boxes over time with tight rolls to just pitch 'em.  If anything, I'll note the box code and avoid similar.

That being said, it's getting pitched if I'm at risk of collapsing a lung.

Cheers!

Depends a lot on the cigar. If it’s high dollar I’ll give it a chance. If it’s a yard gar I’m pitching it and grabbing a blue chipper.

Let’s face it, these days I ain’t pitching a 30 dollar regular stick. In the past when they were 10-20...sure. For a plug, poke it, massage it, swear at it, and if all that fails then chop it up and smoke it in the pipe. For unravelling wrapper just carry on smoking, I don’t think it had any shocking experiences smoking without the wrapper. For bad tastes then yeah persist and remind myself to never buy 'em again 😂

Depends on my mood and how much I've looked forward to the cigar. Some days I have less patience than others. I've had a few cigars, not recently, that tasted of soap. They were gone in minutes.

Lots of factors to consider. If it’s a cheap and cheerful and I’m busy, I’ll carry on. If it’s a quality stick and I’m looking for a great experience, I’ll stick around til the beginning of the second third before deciding to toss it or keep it.

Perfecdraw seems to solve any tight draw issues I come to nowadays, if there's a wind tunnel then it's going in the bin. There's just no saving them for me; I know they are going to burn hot and taste like grubby mud.

I have to deal with a lot in the humidity where I live so relights, touch ups and wrapper problems are par for the course. I have no choice but be tolerant. I like a tight draw so if its not pulling smoke I can usually perfect draw it to satisfactory. If it goes south in the latter part of a cigar, I chuck it.

I haven’t smoked many cigars I would describe as truly putrid in the first 1/2 inch, and usually it’s due to a fundamental flaw like poorly cured tobacco (BRE NOV 2018 Connie 1’s, anyone? Also nearly all the sticks I ordered from a certain “customs” site had this issue). Those have no hope of improving so I always pitch them - with the other issues I think it’s only fair to give the cigar a chance.

I’ll put up with some whacky stuff until about 1/2 way, then it’s gone. Tent pegs get chopped up and tossed into pipe blend. $5 or $500 I have about 27 minutes of patience.

Really depends on how rich I’m feeling that day. However, I’ve got a tupperdor with ones that didn’t pass the cold draw inspection - when I’m feeling poor or during severed cold or humid conditions, this is where I draw from.

I'll deal with anything thing but a tent peg.

Yep, I'll try a couple stabs with the PerfecDraw and if I can't get smoke or if I damage the cigar trying, it goes into the trash. Over-huffing to try to produce smoke creates stress and is the opposite of the experience I expect from my evening cigar. I won't tolerate that anymore.

Exactly.

Over the years I have a collected a full 2 gal Zip lock bag that's full of tight ass cigars from 98' through the early 2000s, but mostly aged stuff. Someday, when I smoke a pipe, I will have some nice tobacco!

Don’t mind relights as long as it doesn’t get bitter. If I can’t squeeze it a bit to open or wrapper starts give issues - it get pitched. Not spending more time fooling around with it than smoking.

This is 100% me, too. Life is too short to fight with a tent peg. I toss & grab something else.

This is pretty much my take on it too. I'll mess with it slightly, but otherwise I'll just move on. I can honestly say I've pitched multiple CoLa due to impossibly tight rolls. 😳

Couldn't agree more with this. I'm fine with a relight or two. But once it starts getting bitter it's a waste.
