Popular Post eaglebear29 Posted March 17 Popular Post Share Posted March 17 I'll be going to San Diego for 2-3 weeks to take care of my fathers remains. I plan on bringing a Monte #2 and a PSD4 since those were the smokes I wanted to smoke with him. Sadly we never got a chance. I last got to talk to him on 1/11/24 and was telling him about the CC and NW hobby and playing catch up on all other things. We heard of his passing just a week ago, and me being his eldest, I have to fly down there and deal with all this stuff before the fishing season starts. I wanted to surprise him with the Monte #2, and the PSD4, as we both loved watching Arnold Schwarzenegger movies, and I know he's fond of both of those CC's. I remember as a kid we'd watch the Lion King together, and it's been popping up the past week in my mind, when Rafiki told Simba that Mufasa was not gone, that he's all around us. The circle of life. I can see my Dad up there now with his Mufasa voice he had giving comfort, and letting me know that everything is alright, and that he's doing good up there, as he watches down on us. Something he would appreciate and smile about. So many good lessons he taught me with great core values. He was a master carpenter, commercial fisherman, and more importantly he was a loving father. He was my best friend. A great mentor and one of the smartest men I've ever known. Just crazy, as I know it can happen to anyone, but it really doesn't hit home like this one, you imagine your father as invincible as a kid, even now, especially with how strong my dad was throughout life. There's never enough I could say about this man. We're all still in shock, so I need to bring pen to paper to write down all his quotes, life lessons, and memories. Not just for myself, but for my family and to carry on his memory and legacy. So I plan to bring a few of those Arnold smokes w/ some randoms and a few HUHC for my uncle and I to also just smoke, to reminisce on the good times. Now it seems every cigar has an even more special meaning to it, to smoke it in happiness and to have time with my father, and to not always save them, because we don't know when our time is coming. Curious if traveling with singles in the States is really a big deal since I won't have any boxes with me. I'll be in the San Diego area and going up to the hills in Ramona, so any tips of nice spots is also welcome. To everyone, don't forget to hug your loved ones and give those who may be struggling a call and check in. Chibearsv Posted March 17 Share Posted March 17 Sincere condolences. My father and I had major differences for a very long time but we finally say “I love you” to each other every time we talk. I’ve basically become him. It’s amazing how that happened. Cheers brother! @Ford2112 is right, no worries traveling with CCs. You don’t need to worry about bands or anything. I dread the day/time you're living now.
