Yes. I was particularly bummed out that Jeff was touring with Johnny Depp. I really wanted to go see him this go around.

Just learned of this from you, John. I came up as a sax player, but honestly learned all of my drum/percussion chops from Blow By Blow and Wired. Sad. I always loved when Stevie Wonder called out "Do it, Jeff!" on Lookin' for Another Love. ☹️

Whenever I'm practicing on a drum kit, I still will play a minute or two of "Scatterbrain" in my head. 9/8 time, funny 4 stroke on the snare every round. It also lets me alternate between my left and right hands on the ride cymbal. I was texting my brother about this news a few minutes ago, laughing that Freeway Jam was the 1st song that I ever played in public on the drums. I was 13 at the time, sitting in with his band. @JohnS my older brother is every bit the guitar player that you are, and I mean that as a supreme compliment!

Of course, his little brother was the one that got to play with Chet Atkins... 😉

I don't know where to start with this one. It hits harder for me than most deaths of members of his generation because he was still out there doing it and giving more new expression to the world. RIP, Jeff.

Attended more than fair share of his shows. Last saw him couple of yrs ago and still could play. Awesome concert. We were planning trip to see him and ZZ Top but had to cancel plans. He was a master!!
