Not quite Long Covid but it has been just over 3 weeks since I returned from Miami with Covid and I am still running at about 80% best. Can't shake the lethargy/bodily disruptions.

This is my second time with Covid and it certainly has knocked me around far more than the first time around. I have had 4 shots.

I know most people get over it in a week but who here has had lasting repercussions from Covid?

I got my first case of covid on December 24th as far as I can tell and I am still dealing with it. I have about 80% of my taste back, but this cough is brutal coughing every 5 minutes and it's driving my wife crazy.

Coming up on one year since I had COVID and I still am suffering day to day with 'COVID brain fog'.

The best way I can describe it is when you're in Esteli for a week, and you know you have a flight the next day but you decide to stay out all night and get 2 hours sleep before you have to get in a car to rush to Managua to get on a plane.

That's how I feel most days, for most of the day.

I've had covid 3 times, all vastly different

1, Alpha,  felt absolutely terrible for about 5 days, was very close to considering hospital

2, Alpha again I think, but just one night of feeling awful, felt fine the next day

Vaccinated 2 twice

3, Delta,  a week of just general flueyness,  didn't feel great, but nowhere near as bad as the first two times.  Just felt like a cold.

I don't think I'm experiencing any long covid, but I do 100% believe anyone who states continuing difficulties.

I have noticed increased brain fog, but that could just be getting old

Tested positive for Covid on December 14th and negative on December 22nd. Still feel the fatigue and get tired very easily. Wanted to go out and exercise, family warned me not to do so and should wait another 3 weeks or so 😓😓😓

Not sure if anyone else is experiencing this, but I am picking up different flavor/scent senses, which I didn’t have before. Stay safe and protected out there.

I have yet to have Covid…🤞🤞🤞

When my wife and I moved to Idaho in September 2020 we lived with our son for 4 months. He and his girlfriend contracted the Alpha original just before Christmas. My wife and I were definitely exposed and never caught it, even had the antibody test to see if we were just asymptomatic. He on the other hand was sick as a dog, but very little congestion. It took him over 2 weeks to test negative. Lost his sense of taste and smell for 3 solid months, didn’t regain fully for nearly a year. His energy level didn’t improve for 6 months.

[I’ve had 1 mild cold and 1 good bout of flu, and tested negative both times. Just lucky I guess.]

He caught it again (probably the Omicron variant) this last November after coming back from Disney World in Florida. Not nearly as sick, and fully recovered in less than 2 weeks from the symptoms.

@Elpresidente, you probably caught it in Florida as well….🤷‍♂️

Had 1 vaccine because I succumbed to the family peer pressure. After that I said screw it, we don’t know enough yet on long term side affects of this mRNA.

No doubt about that. Not knowing, I flew home with it on the 50 hour travel odyssey home.  I suspect that interruption of sleep + time change at that critical period screwed the body's immune system in that first week.

I still actually haven't had it yet ....that I know of anyway. Have travelled a far bit in the last year. Try some electroshock therapy Rob. It will work 😎🌴👍🏻

April 2021 I had parosmia as a result of covid in January 2021 (distorted smell/taste). Not fully recovered. Highly acidic wines are still suffering, some burnt things (car exhaust, devil's lettuce) are off. Luckily cigars for the most part are not majorly effected but wonder if I'm missing any nuanced flavors. Just trying to re-expose myself to as many flavors as much as possible. Can't drink IPA's like I used to. That's been the worst. I bought the La Nez du Vin kit to help retrain my nose. I was also studying for my Certified Specialist of Wine at the time so that was tricky. Brain fog was the other lingering aspect that lasted 1 year+ but feel like I'm mostly passed that aside from poor word recall.

Recovered except for taste.

-used to love craft beer, no longer drink it.  It nearly all tastes the same now.

-still drink and enjoy coffee, but its not like it used to be

-used to enjoy all whiskeys, now stay in the barrel proof range, as under 100pf tastes like the flavor has been watered down to 40pf

I tested positive for 14 days but started feeling better after 10 days. After 3 weeks, I was fine except for 2 things. When trying to exercise, I was gassing out very quickly. But more importantly, cigars tasted like metal… After 2-3 months I was my normal self though!

I had CV19 (delta variant, I think) and had residual symptoms for about 9 months.  For first few months it was fairly significant exhaustion, memory deficits, could place words, about half strength at gym.  But it slowly got better

i feel ya Pres — hope it goes away soon.  It can be a B@@ch

I’m so sorry to hear that, Rob. My wife and I tested positive on NY’s day last year. I felt fine within a few days, but my wife spent all of January 2022 in bed. She had brain fog throughout February as well, but was able to function better. We got it again in August. My symptoms were next to none, but it hit her hard again. She fared better than the first time, and only spent a week in bed. Her brain fog lasted throughout August and September, though.

I hope you are feeling 100% again soon!

I had the vid twice in 2022. Cleared it both times in 5 days. The first time in March was due to the antibody infusion. Second time with no pharmaceutical intervention. Lots of hydration, 81 mg aspirin and treadmill work. An hour slow walk every day (2 mph). Kept inflammation at bay and helped keep my joints from aching. Turmeric supplement helped with the inflammation as well. My family doc made the recommendations.

A young guy at my firehouse got it at the start before vaccines. He has true long Covid. Been to a few respiratory specialist in Chicago. He’s  been on several meds for over a year. He’s 26 and works out heavy cardio almost daily to combat it. He is of optimal weight and BMI. His lung function is still only roughly 80%. During his runs or bike rides he coughs up “lung butter” every day. He did have asthma as a child. His lung scans and scopes show no signs of scarring that they can see. It’s been two years. They have no answers and state he has one of the worse long Covid cases for a health 26 yo they’ve seen.

Wife and I have both vaccines shots, one booster and the flu shot.  Both caught the last COVID variant on a USA flight home 5 months ago - terrible flu like symptoms for about 5 days.  The body and joint aches were the worst.  I tested positive for like 2 weeks after feeling better.  For about a month afterwards I had the brain fog; same as everyone describes.  Seems totally gone now (although some of my work friends may argue otherwise on any given day).  Unfortunately, the wife still has really bad headaches almost everyday and a metallic smell in her nose.  She seems to be getting a little better every week that goes by.

Flying almost every other week for work.  Just got back from Korea a few weeks ago - it was funny wearing a mask everyday again.  Now we're opening up the skies once again to the Chinese travelers.  Sure hope it's not another variant that we can catch.

Rob, curious, have you tried exercise that forces hard sweating?

I've waited for almost 3 months before I was able to smell and taste things again. In the beginning it's something you wait for but after a few weeks you start to feel really scary because sometimes it feels like it's never going to be normal again. One day I woke up in the morning and drank my coffee and the flavors popped out again, it was like Christmas Morning as a child for me.

I had fatigue for about a month when I got it in May. My uncle has a BRUTAL case of it. 6 months from what he tells us. Of course the 3/4 bottle of tequila a night has NOTHING to do with it 😆😂

4 shots as well. Had it twice. January 22 and June 22. Both times took about 6 weeks to recover. No symptoms other than extreme lethargy and lack of energy. Any generations will live with this. It’s not going anywhere unfortunately.

Apparently my wife does. She's been having major cognitive issues and inability to pay attention or remember things for longer than a couple minutes.
