5,6,7,8,9 should be 1,2,3,4,5 in any order in my opinion.

Red Dawn has been on the brain lately due to current news cycle. Probably makes my personal top 20.

Thought Chuck Norris or Steve Segal would have had some mention if JCVD makes the cut

I like Tom Cruse but I think top gun should not be on that list. Back to the Future or even Beverly Hills Cop was better than Top Gun. I do love a lot of those movies though still watch them to this day.

Good list, but needs Thunderdome  Beverly Hills Cop and Running Man. Q

Commando has to go down as the worst of all time, but great to see Evil Dead 2 get a mention. Love that franchise

Cheers

Uh.....I wouldn't give it "legendary" status unless you're talking about terrible acting. 😁

Predator should be 1

More testosterone in that movie than should have been legal! " this stuff will make you a sexual tyrannosaurus!"

Die hard and Rambo. 2 and 3.

and as for the list, what a load of crap. i guess one can try and finesse the term 'action movie' but given things like predator, batman, evil dead, raiders, terminator et al, he has taken a very wide brush.

untouchables,

empire strikes back

scarface

blade runner

ghostbusters

full metal jacket

even the goonies is better than some of his

the shining

you can claim ET as an action film

poltergeist (well, beats some of his)

raging bull

glory

i suspect that this was a list by someone not even alive in the 80s.

Commando should be higher. Though it's not the best, It's the most 80s action movie of all the 80s action movies IMO.

I'm not sure Seagal really got going until the Early 90's. Either Marked for Death or Hard to Kill was late 80's (forget which one), but the other was '90, I believe. Under Siege was '92 (btw Hollywood, find more excuses for battleships to fire their big guns pls), On Deadly Ground was '94.

Commando is tongue in cheek goodness. I mean,he carries a whole tree in the first scene lol. But between Sully and Bennett,it's a solid choice, and Bill Duke" You scare mfer? You should be,because this green beret is about to kick your big ass!" " I eat green berets for breakfast. And right now I'm getting very hungry!!"

Big Trouble in Little China has my vote. “Yeah, you know what ol’ Jack Burton says...”

Campy to the full measure.

Tough to compete with Raider’s tho, it had mystical powers, archeology AND Nazis. Hard to beat that! 😳

Yes, I must say, the early JCVD movies hit the pre-pubescent me right in the wheelhouse. Only a kid can like a movie like Cyborg which makes no sense at all but is still, for some reason, awesome.

Yes, as far as quality of the film, Raiders is clearly the greatest. Technically perfect and without doubt one of the greatest films ever made. The Last Crusade was in 89, so that should be there well before Road House or Top Gun for god's sake. I wouldn't call Raiders, Top Gun or Road House "action" but if they put Raiders in you have to put Last Crusade.

Yeah, it's pretty much the most gratuitous 80s action. I'd put Stallone's Cobra in there too for the "cop action" quintessential 80s movie. I guess Beverly Hills Cop isn't "action" enough, but it was one of the best also.

No list is ever perfect, and there are several movies worthy of making this list. But let's remember this is a list of Action movies. I get that Action is open to some interpretation but c'mon, some of y'all throwing some movies into the mix here that aren't even close to any reasonable definition of Action.

I loved Commando when it came out and still love it. Rae Dawn Chong may have something to do with that. But Vernon Wells (sorry to my friends down under) as the villain always cracked me up. So out of shape and he was supposed to be some special forces badass. So bad it's good!

T2 would be in there if it wasn't in 91.
