Popular Post JohnS Posted June 15, 2020 Popular Post Posted June 15, 2020 If you, like me, catalogue your inventory in Cuban Cigar Website you can now make trades easily with friends who also use the CCW inventory feature. It's free to catalog your inventory on CCW, all you need to do is register. Recently, Alex Groom, who runs Cuban Cigar Website and I used this trading feature to swap cigars. I was happy to provide Alex with some cigars to be used to update the images on CCW ( more on this below). The cigars I traded are pictured below... The cigars Alex traded are pictured below... To use this feature simply log onto Cuban Cigar Website and hit the friends link... Request a friendship with someone else who has a CCW Inventory by hitting the "Request New Membership" link... Your friend will come up and you'll be able to view their inventory, and they yours... Hit the trade link and propose your trade. You can build the trade progressively by making counter offers. Please note, the trade feature here shows cigars that both members do not have in their inventories... Once your trade is done all you have to do is hit the trade complete link and your inventory will update. Or, leave it and do it manually if you'd like (as Alex and I have done). If you'd like to assist Alex with donating cigars to update for Cuban Cigar Website you can do so by following the links below. Firstly, go to the bottom of the home page and hit the link to the text above the Yellow Donate link... This will take you to the page explaining the reasoning behind why Cuban Cigar Website requires assistance to maintain its image database... Cigars are categorised into high and medium priority... Personally, I look forward to seeing the cigars I've traded to Alex used on the site. As for the trade, it provided me with the opportunity to re-organise my humidors and pull out cigars which were at the bottom of these humidors. This trade allowed me to access cigars I would have otherwised bypassed in the short-term future. So, I thank you @ATGroom for this trade feature in Cuban Cigar Website and for the cigars that I will now smoke and review in the coming month (pictured below). 16 3
Chibearsv Posted June 15, 2020 Posted June 15, 2020 Do I have to consent to making my inventory public? Or can I say no to public but still invite you only as a friend to view my collection? Also, do guys that keep an online inventory update it daily? The process intrigues me but I’m not looking to make it a job 3

I believe that viewing other people's inventory is currently limited to requests via mutual friendship; however I'll ask @ATGroom to elaborate further in this thread as he doesn't mind reflecting on new suggestions for Cuban Cigar Website from time-to-time (Indeed, thanks for patiently wading through my suggestions over the years, Alex!). 1
Chibearsv Posted June 15, 2020 Posted June 15, 2020 I think I would prefer semi-private anyway so it sounds like it’s set that way already. Thx 1
StogieSteve23 Posted June 15, 2020 Posted June 15, 2020 Thanks for sharing this John. I noticed today that the website got a facelift. Looks great @ATGroom, well done and thanks for all the hard work! 1
Habana Mike Posted June 16, 2020 Posted June 16, 2020 This is great! I've communicated with Alex about providing some needed cigars for proper photos. Been meaning to get around to it. A nice mechanism to ensure that what I'd intend to provide are still needed. Just need to enter my inventory, that may take a day or two 1
Popular Post ATGroom Posted June 16, 2020 Popular Post Posted June 16, 2020 Thanks @JohnS for the trade and the shoutout etc, and all others for the kind words. The trading feature has actually been around for a while, but I'd never used it before myself. I can see from the database that a few others have. New homepage was something that has been much needed for years, as the old one was really pretty unworkable on mobile, which is over 60% of traffic these days. I think it worked out well. I might look at rolling out the 'cleaner' look more generally in the future. Always happy to consider any new features that anyone would like to request. 4 hours ago, Chibearsv said: Do I have to consent to making my inventory public? As far as the trading stuff goes, you need to request a friend and have them accept before you can see each others' stuff. The question about making the inventory public when you sign up has no effect at the moment. I put it on there to gauge sentiment to see if people were interested in setting up a social network for cigars, ie, you have a profile page on CCW that has your collection, your smoking diary, etc that people can see, comment on, reach out to you to trade etc. I have no plans to implement this at any point, and if I ever do I will email everyone who has selected "yes" to this question and give them an option to change it. For what it's worth, about 25% of people answer "yes" to this question. 4 hours ago, Chibearsv said: Also, do guys that keep an online inventory update it daily? The process intrigues me but I’m not looking to make it a job I guess it all depends how you approach the hobby and what your needs are. My goal as a collector is to get "one of everything," and I built the trading tool (and in fact, all of the CCW collection stuff) for that - it allows you to quickly go through a large collection and figure out what you have and what you need. I can't imagine how I would go about that goal without it. That goal is entirely because of the needs of CCW though. "People who run cigar encyclopedias" is a bit of a limited audience. There are those who use it as a smoking diary, and the top few members have all written notes on well over 1,000 cigars they've smoked. Before all the data got lost in 2016, there was one member who smoked five PSD4s per day and logged a review of every one. I had one user ask for some features that were around keeping records of the collection for insurance purposes. Generally, adding a box is a matter of finding the cigar on CCW, and then two clicks from there, and depleting a cigar is much the same, find the box and with two clicks you can mark a cigar as smoked and the inventory updates. I have a few non-smoking friends who travel regularly and are members just so they can see my collection and know what Regionals I'm looking for if they ever come across them. It all depends on the individual. If anyone has tried CCW and thinks it doesn't work for them for whatever reason, I'd be very keen to hear why and maybe we can do something to improve it. 9 2

WineAcrobat Posted June 16, 2020 Posted June 16, 2020 I know that we aren't allowed to trade with people from on here until we have a certain number of posts and 6 months on the forum, but I just wanted to note that I did a trade with a friend of mine who showed me Cuban Cigar Website, and I can't even express how much I like the platform. Does anyone know if there is a way to sort your collection? 1

If you click the headings at the top of the column it will sort by that column (name, length, ring, date acquired). For the date one, once it's sorted by that column, if you click it again it will sort it by reverse date. On the same computer it will remember your sort for next time. You can sort by a few other things by playing around with the URL. Let me know if you want to sort by something else and I can probably add it. 1 1
