Put up the awning so now the smoke smell lingers there. I have been banished to out by our pool. Sun umbrellas are up. WiFi is upgraded. Now the work cigar thing will occur without prying eyes. Cigars and coffee may soon be a daily thing. I have also been acquiring about a box a week during pandemic as long as I still have a job. Future proofing my growing habit a bit. Now we just need NY customs to start processing things again ... Customs backed up? Damn, was hoping that wouldn’t happen. currently at around 1-2 per day! Glad I have a a decent stash to fall back on.
Meklown Posted April 8, 2020 Posted April 8, 2020 I used to do around 6-7 a week, but when this wfh thing started (we started late Jan in Hong Kong), with the extra time on my hands, I realised I was steadily going up. Felt I was over-smoking and palate wasn't taking it well so I'm now consciously restricting myself back to 6-7. 1
TBird55 Posted April 8, 2020 Posted April 8, 2020 Still my normal 3/day. One in the morning with coffee to get the day started, one after lunch, then one in the evening. Occasional an extra added in the afternoon or evening during the weekends. 1
GVan Posted April 8, 2020 Posted April 8, 2020 Same as others here - smoked 2 to 3 per week. Now it's about one a day. Wife has commented several times about me smoking more cigars. Really two main drivers: (1) I have more time to surf FOH -- and imagine that; after looking at all the great CC's from "FOH'ers Smoke of the Day" or "Latest CC Purchase", I look at my humidor sitting across from my desk in the office and somehow grab one and head outside. (2) I've had a few friends call and say let's get together for a cigar this evening. Used to happen about once every other month. Now it's happening every week. Whenever we get together, we bring our own cigars and maintain our social distances. All this really means is that we talk louder, laugh louder and generally are more obnoxious .... but, good fun relieving the stress while we are all cooped up. Think I'll sign off and go have another cigar ! 2
LLC Posted April 8, 2020 Posted April 8, 2020 About the same as I work from home anyway unless I'm meeting with clients/traveling. With the meetings and travel out I have been working a little more on my deck. Glad it's Spring!Same situation for me. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
LordAnubis Posted April 8, 2020 Posted April 8, 2020 Cigars are a time with friends or when i've got the house to myself type event for me. Sometimes i would work from home and after the wife has gone to work i'd chill and have a cigar. Now that she's home all the time, and i can't go out can catch up with FoH brothers... my sticks are aging away waiting to be released... It's been 4 weeks so far without a cigar. Ramadhan is also coming up so no smoking then in any case.
cmbarton Posted April 8, 2020 Posted April 8, 2020 I’m jealous ... I wish I could only smoke once a week or month! If I can limit myself to just one cigar a day, I give myself a pat on the back ... and reward myself with an extra cigar the next day! 1
Islandboy Posted April 8, 2020 Posted April 8, 2020 Honestly, little has changed for me. Still averaging 1 a day, most often a solitary evening smoke on the deck to unwind. I’ve never really been a social smoker. it’s more of a zen thing for me. My wife is home now, but I’m still working every day (in accordance with current regulations, and the rules of common sense), albeit taking serious precautions. Like many others, my “special” cigars have all become fair game. No time like the present. 2
shippers Posted April 8, 2020 Posted April 8, 2020 Don't have a space to smoke at home (no garden / balcony) and with everywhere I usually have one shut... one or two a week down to none. Could go for a walk in the park with one I suppose but its not the same as sitting down with a drink and a cigar. Doesn't stop me making the occasional order. Stocking up for when I can finally have one in comfort again!
StogieSteve23 Posted April 8, 2020 Posted April 8, 2020 My cigar intake has increased a lot. I usually only have 4-6 a week when home and not out of town working events. Working from home, I've increased to 2-4/day during the weekdays and maybe 1/day on the weekends. I smoke outside in my screened in porch with some stand up fans and have no problem with the lingering smell. As @Islandboy said, my "special" cigars have all become fair game. What better time than now to try new sticks when you know you wont be bothered to leave the comforts of home.
Bords Posted April 8, 2020 Posted April 8, 2020 Yep working from home I’m way up...from 2-3 per week to 2 per day. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 2
Havanaaddict Posted April 8, 2020 Posted April 8, 2020 No change here 2 a day 7 days a week! But I do have a ventilated cigar lounge in my house so weather is not a concern. 3
wineguy Posted April 9, 2020 Posted April 9, 2020 I didn't smoke for 20 days when I was recovering from Covid and started back last week. Yesterday I got out to play golf and had two. A Monte 2 that I though was one of the best I have had and a Hdm DC that was also great. They were either exceptional cigars or my palate had a good refresh from the break. I am about 2 a day again. 2
Nico Posted April 10, 2020 Posted April 10, 2020 I’m studying courses over the internet so I never meet any teachers or students IRL. The only annoying thing is they shut down the reception at the school building so I don’t think I can visit if I have to. Cigar consumption always go up when the spring makes an entrence (which happened around two weeks ago here in Sweden). I don’t think the virus is affecting my consumption. Either I feel the urge or I don’t. I can only enjoy a cigar if I feel a desire for it. I could never smoke out of boredom. I’ve tried that and it doesn’t work, brings zero pleasure for me.
RichUK Posted April 10, 2020 Posted April 10, 2020 I am up to one a day from one or two a week. Working from home makes things easier, but I haven’t started smoking in my office yet, I need to find a decent way to filter the air and smoke smell before I do that. With the weather improving, it is nice to sit in the back garden and relax with the family whilst enjoying a smoke.
Sir Diggamus Posted April 10, 2020 Posted April 10, 2020 A LOT MORE for me. When things are normal, during the warm months I typically can get 1 or 2 cigars a week in, when it's cold like 1-2 a month. But the weather has been nice and I have been working from home it has definitely been more. I think it was three during this week so far with probably another before the end of the week.
The Squiggler Posted April 10, 2020 Posted April 10, 2020 It's a perfect storm over here: I'm home all the time; there's nowhere to be the next morning so I'm often drinking (which typically makes me crave a smoke); the weather has been amazing; I have a giant pile of fine cigars and nothing better to do in the early evening than sit on my freshly restored back deck and smoke. I've probably gone from smoking 2-4 a month to smoking 3-6 a week (not a lot for some folks, sure, but a lot for me). 1
