Hi everyone.

I have enjoyed most of j.o. That I have tried and interested in trying other custom rolls. Can anyone point me in the right direction ? Feel free to pm if anything

Visit Cuba and drop by Commodoro, Conde Villanueva, Club Habana and the various Melia hotels. All have house rollers you can pick up customs from. You could also travel to Pinar del Rio for various farm rolls.

That or troll FB, OLH and other places where people put these up at twice the price.

Considering the time, planning, language barrier and cost involved with getting to Cuba, I'll gladly pay 2x the cost for customs. Most people going only want to mule back their own supply, or don't know enough about cigars to be trusted to seek them out if they go there. With the new travel regulations, prices may go up and then I won't be so content with the price and may decide to go myself. Maybe.

I'd reach out to David at LCDH Cancun. He always has plenty of customs available and his roller Jose is very good. I know he ships worldwide.

Personally, I've never been a fan of customs. For the CUC price I'll bite when in Cuba but my personal opinion is that the tobacco allotted for customs is not top tier leaf. There may be some limited exceptions like Monsdales (I've never had one though). Even the custom Laguito No. 1 given out at the 17 Partagas dinner said to have been rolled by La China tasted like all the other customs I've had.

I will say the customs I thought were the best I had in Cuba were Reynaldo's (Conde Villanueva). A little more flavorful than the rest. But I still wouldn't get them over regular production at the same price.

I recommend Alex from Comodoro. The pyramide extra I had was quite good. I have quite a bit resting from him.

Hector’s farm is a great experience, too. I also have quite a bit resting. I highly recommend freezing the hell out of any of the customs before bringing into your stock.

My experience with the customs in Mexico was not pleasant and they were overpriced.

Thanks for the suggestions. Headed there in January if it’s still legal!  The power/fuel rationing will add to the experience.

Much more than twice the price, from what I've seen much of the time.

I've had quite a few, the most popular 2 being Hector Luis Preito & Papo. All have been rather rich & chocolately, sort of like a boring version of Monte.

At $15-20/stick in the secondary market, I'd much rather smoke reg production smokes for that coin.

Cost?  Cuba is the only vacation I go on where I actually "make" money going!

I have some custom rolls from the Partaga store , they are torpedoes and fantastic. I don't remember the rollers name but it seams to be the same lady there rolling them. At 5  bucks a stick it's a steal.

@crking3 Just shoot The Donald a quick email, tell him you’re making a customs run, back in 5-7 days, and Bob’s yer uncle!

Had a former co-worker whose spouse worked for X (or similar).  Spouse’s ground rules for marriage was literally zero discussion (or even knowledge) of work, and that from time to time, spouse would be gone with zero information. Spouse would return when spouse returned.  And that’s all that was said!  ?

Have you tried Hector’s Behike 56?

No, but I could believe that Hector, if anyone, could hold back some top tier leaf for his farmies. Same with Hirochi. They get enough people coming through to actually benefit from not selling their best leaf to Cubatabaco.

I didn't get a chance to go to Pinar when I was there but my guess is the best customs might be coming from those two.

Probably was La China, but I heard she was semi-retired now. I didn't see her there in Nov 17.

Does anyone have the contact info for Papo and his customs?  I am traveling to PDR in early December with Jorge.  When I asked if we could go by and pick up some of his rolls, in addition to the HLP finca,  he said he had never been there and had no contacts.  He also said he would try to find out and I said I'd check with the forum.  Thanks in advance!

When I go to Cuba I only bring back my own sticks and a few for friends. It is against the law to sell them in the USA. Go to Cuba and visit the farms, factory's and lcdh's . I don't speak Spanish and never have a problem.

I’d love to start exploring some custom rolls. As a US resident, I just have zero idea about how to get started short of going to Cuba.

Go to Cuba , enjoy the cigar capital of the world
