jcorona Posted March 29, 2019 Posted March 29, 2019 Are lcdh banded cigars of better/higher quality than reg prod cigars? hence the higher price point? do they use aged tobacco?
CaptainQuintero Posted March 29, 2019 Posted March 29, 2019 No, just different cigars to the regular production catalogue, usually very good cigars though. 3

Of course they are better and more expensive. Do you think they would put a second band on just any regular cigar? ??? 1 8
Popular Post SigmundChurchill Posted March 29, 2019 Popular Post Posted March 29, 2019 Seriously though, I find some to be better than regular production, some to be equal, and some to be worse. In a sense they are just regular production cigars, made in limited quantities. They may use a unique blend, and you may like it or not. They may use a very similar blend to other cigars in the marca, but the change in size or ring gauge will alter the flavor into something you like or dislike. So just like regular production cigars, it all comes down to personal taste. 5

Higher price point? Ramon Allones Superiores are one of, it not the cheapest Corona Gorda's available at $5.60 a stick. I would smoke one of them over one of the $30 a stick Sig VI's that were up the other day, without even thinking about it. Upmann Noelles (a corona) are only $122, including the Jar!! Sub $5 a stick, plus a very nice jar. Hoyo Elegantes are $7 a stick, for a double figurado. The MOST expensive LCDH exclusive is the newish, La Trova at $12.50 a stick, which I would argue is still a tremendous value for what you get. I can't say weather they are better/worse than their Reg production cohorts, but I do enjoy the Noelles, Superiores and La Trova's a lot. They are also GREAT values, but I think HSA has cottoned on and started raising the release price for the more rececnt inclusion like the La Trova and Hoyo Escogidos. I copied the section on LCDH exclusives from https://www.cubancigarwebsite.com/cigar/releases#LCDH_Exclusive_Releases It doesn't mention any special treatment of the tobacco, and I have not heard anything to dispute what it says. It does mention that these cigars have been produced in "Limited Numbers" since 2011 which I can back up with personal experience. Other than Superiores(which always seem to be available) I've noticed that the others seem to come in runs. One month you'll visit 10 LCDH's and not see a single jar or box of La Trova, then 4 months later every shop you visit has 10 or 12 of one and a half dozen of the other. Its a total crap shoot. BarryVT Posted March 29, 2019 Posted March 29, 2019 Yet to find any of the fore mentioned cigars at that price. Those prices line up with yul prices in Cuba. You either live in Cuba or visit a lot! Lol
SOFLO88 Posted March 29, 2019 Posted March 29, 2019 I love the LCDH blends but those are for sure the ones you find at double the price in cube vs other reg production that you can get at close to the same price as in cuba if you watch out for good deals. Maybe the cost through the distributors is higher on the LCDH than the reg productions for resellers but they are always good none the less.

Shockingly low. 8 hours ago, jcorona said: Are lcdh banded cigars of better/higher quality than reg prod cigars? hence the higher price point? do they use aged tobacco? Not officially, but I think HSA has done a good job with their quality in general and are using top tier tobacco in them. 1

Was does an average box of Superiores run at an online vendor? Even though the baseline prices are low, I would imagine the markup is huge. With the production numbers leaning towards the low side and the fact that they are only available at LCDH's (Officially) I can understand why the prices would creep up a bit. If I remember correctly, Rob has had some Superiores and even La Trova for sale before. I've seen LCDH exclusives for sale at other online retailers with no apparent connection to a physical LCDH. I'm not sure what happens behind the scenes to enable that availability, but it obviously adds cost to the equation.

If you watch and wait for deals, the cheapest I’ve been able to get the Superiores online for is $8 a stick. At that price I still think they are a fantastic value.
BrightonCorgi Posted March 29, 2019 Posted March 29, 2019 In general I am big fan of LCDH cigars and the rolling quality tends to be more consistent. That part could be just me... I have had a box of just about all the cigars mentioned above.
Cayman17 Posted March 29, 2019 Posted March 29, 2019 I’m a fan of Superiores but I’ve never seen them for $8 per stick. I’d be all over them at that price.

No, me neither. Maybe on special a few years ago or a 2-box deal special but good luck finding them for less than $10/stick these days. Again, RAS seems to have one of--if not the--largest price disparity between Cuba and worldwide retail. The new QdO 50 & 54 are about 50% of worldwide retail and actually look like Cuba's best deal.

Superiores are usually 110 range, la trova pushing 400, h upmann jars anywhere from 325 to 375. So yes, quite the markup.
LLC Posted March 30, 2019 Posted March 30, 2019 Generally I really enjoy the LCDH releases. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 1
Lotusguy Posted March 30, 2019 Posted March 30, 2019 Generally I really enjoy the LCDH releases. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Same here. Notable exception is the HDM Elegantes - they just don’t do it for me. Oh: and the original Noellas Jars. They put me off so much I haven’t even tried any of the later years. Harsh and metallic all the way, even after some years.
