anjimj
Just had my first Monte DE. Typical Monte flavors, creamy and great smoke output and love the size. I never pulled the trigger on these because the reviews were not very favorable when they came out, but when I received a stick from Foh I decided to give it a shot. Anyone out there make it a staple im their humidor? I will probably try a few more before I declare a verdict but so far so good.
havanaclub
Haven’t had much luck. Mind you my last one from a pack of 3 was excellent. Maybe they just needed some age. I prefer the no2 or PE. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
nKostyan
One of my favorite Montecristo. Soft and tender taste. I prefer a light wrapper.
Stump89
When they're on, they are pretty darn good. Tough to find quality though apparently.
anjimj
One of those cigars never to buy blind that's for sure!
SOFLO88
Ive always like the Petite Edmundo More. Its always worth a shot but I havent found any that make me want to buy a box.
HarveyBoulevard
Always a staple but I've only purchased boxes from Rob and I'm smoking out of a '13 box. Love them.
El Presidente
You can get a dodgy box of H. Upmann connie 1 and they can often still be brilliant. That doesn't work with the Monte Double Edmundo. There is so much crap around, green tinged wrappers.....appalling. Get one of these and you are in for a treat. Otherwise pass.
Islandboy
Never had a DE, but Edmundo is a staple in my humidor. My favorite Monte cocoa bomb, the burning aroma is second to none.
JohnInCleveland
First one I had was a single in Havana and it was so good I bought 10 and brought them home. They were all as pedestrian as is humanly possible. When they're good, they're great, but man, a mediocre 2 hr cigar is so disappointing.
LLC
I’ve only had one and it was when they first came out and I was in Havana. It was the most bland, boring, plain cigar I have ever had. It had no redeeming qualities and I have never had one since. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Lotusguy
Wasn’t a big fan initially, but then I got some 2016s and they were awesome. Not sure if it was luck, age, or a good crop.
Burningman
I rolled the dice on a box of these. I'm hopeful I received a good box. They definitely look the part and the price was too good to pass on. If they turn out to be average I'll pass them out to guys who insist on smoking the largest cigar possible just for the sake of lighting a big smoke. This way if they toss it 1/3 of they way through I won't cringe.
Piligrim
not my cup of tea. I prefer Monte Petit Edmundo or sometimes Edmundo, especially aged.
rcarlson
Got a box when they first came out and swore them off. If I dipped my toe back in on them, they would only come from here on Rob's recommendation.
anjimj
Rob how would you rate the current stock in the carts? PE, hq, psp, or a a mix if of all three?
mbflash80
I have had better double edmundos over the past couple years than monte 2s by a wide margin...i think its a very good cigar and can often be had at reasonable prices...i keep a decent supply of them.
stunod
Crazy but for me I’m not a fan. Monte PE is my #1 go to. I love Monte 1 and Monte 2, but the Double Edmundo... never had luck.
BrightonCorgi
I have a few 10 counts and cardboard DE's and they are all fantastic. Can't say enough on them. I'd lean slightly to the Bolivar Libertadores for a similar smoking experience. The Sublime size cigar is a casual fun smoke for me. Just puff away and enjoy; lot's of smoke. I don't buy them for contemplation of flavors or to take notes.
anjimj
Looks like I am now in the market for box of these. Hope they come up soon on 24:
HabanosNJGuy
I'm currently smoking through a box of these, LUG JUN 15, PSP/HQ. It's one of my go to smokes. Almost always delivers with typical Monte flavors. It's not as classy as the #1 or Especiales, but when I want good flavor that I don't have to think about, the Double Edmundo is one of the few cigars that I know I'll be happy with. dowjr1
They are one of my favs....loves the profile and the size is my absolute top. My other tops are Romeo Beli and HUp Mag 50.
TheMonk
All of the ones I've smoked thus far (granted, not a lot but from a few different years/boxcodes) have been crap. Some even worse then the MC Open range, and that's really saying something.
Edward7
Never had a double but I have had a regular Edmundo and I did love it. I have had a handful of poor monte 2' as well and a couple that made me want them as a part of the permanent rotation. Inconsistency will make me shy away from a certain cigar type. anjimj
I hope to get a sampler soon before I commit to a box.
