I've only had the distinguidos. They are phenomenal, I wish I had purchased more from the last psp 2424 offering. Roasted peanuts, caramel, and chocolate.

That bad, huh :)

I would add the option, but I can't find anywhere the edit option to add the choice.

Strange I think I've only ever had few small format ones many years ago, but I do kick myself for being down on them, when In actual fact I'm just happy to follow the heard in veering away from them, when I have no real knowledge of them.

I think because reviews are thin on the ground, It's hard to get a grasp on how the line differs between each other.

It would be really useful a Cuaba enthusiast could give us there opinion, on how the line differs?

They're all pretty similar except for the shape...  What vitola do you like?  Distinguido is the one that can wear the most hats.  Wants something to smoke longer, the Salomones is fun.  Looking for a real event, the Diadema is terrific (hard as heck to find).  Never smoked the smaller ones or can't remember anything special about them.  Diadema's I have had some burn issues before, but only had one 5 count box.

For a few of the vitola's your choices are really limited outside of Cuaba.  Do you like Figurado's is the question, and I do!

The Cuaba line was introduced in the late 90's with the intention of being a premium marca. In regards to its history since, the marca has suffered from a poor reputation due to its notoriety for construction issues. Since they are all figurados (or perfectos) the brand has always been marketed as being rolled by the highest grade torcedors, but I've sampled other cigars reputed to be rolled by the best (e.g. Gran Reservas) and there is a discernible difference. Hence, I would empathise with anyone being unwilling to identify themselves with being a Cuaba 'enthusiast'.

That being said, I've bought confidently due to our host's inspections of boxes, and I've enjoyed some excellent examples of Distinguidos and Divinos. This thread serves as a reminder for me to invest in some Salomones and the Tradicionales were slated for deletion, I believe, but are currently in production? (So Fonseca No.1's are not unique then!)

The difference I found between the Distinguidos and Divinos is that the larger cigar tended to be milder and have more of a combined shortbread and citrus element to them, whereas the Divinos, like the majority of smaller cigars, tends to be more stronger, and in itself, can be more intense on tobacco flavour. They both carry the 'peanut' core which defines Cuaba, and when this flavour is more definitive in the cigar, the more highly I personally rate them.

Many suffer from construction issues - even when sourced here.

I only care for the 2008 LE and I had a pre-release Joffries that was divine.

that was my first thought as well.

aside from that 2008 LE, there is no possible reason that they should exist.

waste of time and space and leaf.

and if this was not a family site, i'd tell you what i really think.

I think the best Cuaba I've ever had was the Piramides EL from 2008. A great cigar with a very specific blend. Too bad it was overpriced in Europe…

The Divinos can be very very good but construction is all over the place; not a cigar to purchase blind…

I used to be a big fan of Cuaba when they first appeared in 97 to about 2000. Not sure why I ever really got off them as I really do enjoy the blend. That being said, I think the two best Cuabas presently are the Distinguidos and the Divinos. I have some Distinguidos on the way and I've always had good luck with the Divinos although they are just too small for my taste.

I've heard through the grapevine that recent Tradicionales are not good at all and I've heard very little about recent Exclusivos.

None of the above. Seriously, every Divinos I've tried has been like trying to suck on a stick. Sour and acrid. I've tried them all, and not had a good experience yet.  Have avoided the entire line because of serious construction issues. If only they changed the blend, maybe kept the nice bit - the peanut flavours, and improved on the consistency, then maybe, but then, it wouldn't be Cuaba anymore, would it?  I do like the figurado shapes, in theory - but, they are difficult to roll, and so therefore it seems that rolling consistency is just not there.

I still remember your classic and most eloquent description of the Salomones some time ago, Ken.

Seeing as that was mentioned on a "family-friendly" video review, I see no reason not to repeat your description here.

Something along the lines of "Venomous toxic dog-turds", if I remember correctly

For me, my favorite is the also my favorite of the Millennium cigars. It is just a classy cigar. Sadly I have not had the Joffrey and only have 1 Millennium left.

I feel like I might be a minority in here. I've enjoyed all but one experience relating to Cuaba. Had a single tradicionales that was a true tent peg. Otherwise, diademas, salomones and divinos I have had have made for enjoyable experiences. Wish they were still making the diademas...

I smoked a divinos back in April last year bought from b&m inside a casino in Macau.

Walked around the old streets of Macau tasting nothing but peanut butter and dark creamy chocolate.

It was the sort of stick that would get a newbie instantly addicted to Cubans.
